van Gaal has offered Valdes the chance to finish his recovery and gain fitness with the United first team. This is a great opportunity for De Gea to learn more about van Gaal's systems as Valdes' has played under him before.
Could there be an outside chance we even sign Valdes as a backup keeper?

Apparently Reus was our big name target, he liked the personal terms and was receptive to the move. Clubs couldn't agree on a price.
Now looking at Griezmann and all other targets we have heard about already.

Monaco are willing to sell Anthony Martial but are looking for a sizeable fee as 25% of the total will go to Lyon. This price has scared off Lille who enquired after the player in June. Spurs and Dortmund had the player watched last season and may turn to him if other targets are not viable - but agfain price will be an issue. He was discussed between Monaco and Chelsea when loan players were being negotiated and Chelsea would have been willing to pay €20M - but the asking price was an astonishing €50M - there was no way Chelsea would pay that for him. Manchester United spoke with his agent - whether or not they progress it I don't know, but not good value at the asking price.}

Ok I'm going to have to be the one to say it to all you negative nancy's on here.
We had 25 years of Fergie's style of football but guess what there are other styles of football too and none of them are wrong.
LvG plays a different style of football and just like Fergies methods its proven to work. Have some faith and stop jumping on every opportunity to hate. Support the team and we will be back winning trophies before you know it.

Great, if LVG leaves we could ask Big Sam to take over or perhaps approach West Brom for permission to speak to Pulis.
It doesn't make me negative to say I found watching us last year on the whole, well boring really. The 1st game didn't suggest any real change. I realise it's about winning trophies but if it means boring people to death then I'm not interested. We have a history based on swashbuckling attacking play (apart from Sexton), for me it isn't simply about winning.

Well said. You'd think we'd got beat on the opening day from all the negativity on here. 5 players made their debut, and still possibly more signings to come. Its important to pick up points while the team gels, it's not going to happen overnight. Time to get behind the team and the manager.

I think wee played poorly for a number of years. Not sure how old some posters are on here but get the DVDs of 92/3, 93/4, 99/02 and see how team used to play. Then there were the Ronaldo years. For several years now I really haven't enjoyed watching us apart from an occasional game when we shook off the stupor. Even last year in our good run, it was all incredibly controlled and lacking passion. Just my view.

I should add tat whist there are happy clappers and negative nellies I don't think am either. I support the team, am generally optimistic and phlegmatic, but we have been pants for a long time. After the money we have spent I am expecting a lot more.

I guess this was aimed at me Al, I just thought I'd talk about the net spend because I think it's interesting to see which clubs have done the best business in the window, in terms of bringing in quality and getting rid of what they don't need. In all honesty I think you saw your clubs name at the top of the list and overreacted a bit, if you personally don't care about net spend then why bother posting a thread about it on another teams page?

Interesting that he specifically mentions how much the club wants to spend.
Personally I think we need to look elsewhere , Ronaldo at 30 with the potential cost Madrid would want is not a good idea for me. Bale is another matter.

Absolutely agree with you there Red Man. We should move heaven and earth to sign Bale. I see no reason why we can't sign a marquee winger like Bale, Reus, Muller, or Griezmann. For me we should get Pedro and Otamendi in, then spend the rest of the window chasing a marquee winger and a marquee striker.

Bale, Ramos? And Lewandowski and I think we would have serious threat. Rooney cannot be the main striker we rely on and Depay is too inexperienced to rely heavily on. Note LVG referred to Barca's three 'Galacticos' and we have none. Bale and Lewandowski would be a serious threat and give us a chance at the top prize let alone the league. Yet I wonder if it will just be one this summer.

I know that he said Ronaldo is not feasible, and that I agree, I would rather go for a younger player such as Bale for that price. But I do think the statement is a sign of intent we are after a game changer and I hope we get one.
