Di maria exit confirmed by club.

1.) 06 Aug 2015 14:20:15
He leaves giving nothing to remember, and everything to forget. Never seen a player this tragivc. Even Bebe tried his best to prove himself.

2.) 06 Aug 2015 14:25:44
Really don't think the club wanted to sell but seems like the player forced their hand. great footballer, bad professional.

3.) 06 Aug 2015 14:37:31
One of the great sporting cowards of recent memory. For a player who many had previously admired for a seemingly relentless attacking instinct, he has demonstated a truly craven professionalism and a the heart of a quitter.

4.) 06 Aug 2015 15:55:09
I don't even think he deserves our comments. Let's get him out of United's history by not speaking about him anymore.

5.) 06 Aug 2015 16:29:53
Maybe just Maybe he is too good for man utd and wanted to go to a bigger better club.

6.) 06 Aug 2015 16:58:19
@negativeredwalter Careful mate, you might do a Stevie in those slippers.

7.) 06 Aug 2015 17:06:36
he is soo to good for man utd. i guess dats y he had to sit on the bench for someone like ashley young. he is jus a coward he couldn't do what he did in la liga because out league is very hard. and even in the easy spanish league madrid chased him away and they knew why. now he wants to run to psg where he can do what he wants and he know its much easier

8.) 06 Aug 2015 17:20:43
That argument won't fly, Walter. He was legitimately out-dueled by Ashley Fricking Young. His talent may be in a rarified class, but he's got the heart of a certain rodent that he bears uncanny resemblance to. If he maintained any sense of sporting pride he wouldn't have folded up like a crap tent at the slightest of adversities.

9.) 06 Aug 2015 17:25:35
Maybe negative but he went to PSG instead so kinda odd. only barca and madrid are bigger.

10.) 06 Aug 2015 17:37:12
Pratt

11.) 06 Aug 2015 18:06:37
Before he signed for us He was dead set on joining PSG. They thought the ffp transfer reduction was going to be dropped as they spent the 50 million on David Luiz. We signed a player that was never interested in joining us in the first place, unfortunately, we were the only other team with enough money and he had no choice.

12.) 06 Aug 2015 18:08:41
He got scared away because he thought your lot were coming to eat him!

13.) 06 Aug 2015 18:15:47
Good luck to him, we handled ourselves with class as you'd expect. Sometimes things in life just don't work out. Look at liverpool and the prem league.

14.) 06 Aug 2015 19:34:02
Hey guys you lot seem to be a good bunch. Only typed what I did to see what the man utd supporters really thought about the sale. Hope you guys enjoy the season. just hope we finish higher (wont happen tho) :(

15.) 06 Aug 2015 20:14:50
Anyone feel like a bit of Parisian burglary?

16.) 07 Aug 2015 04:51:44
I would suspect, no, he didn't want to join last year. He was more interested in PSG but due to Financial fair play he couldn't. Now he has gone where he wanted. Now we move on.

09 Jul 2015 10:20:27
Reports coming out of France suggest ADM has agreed a move to PSG. hope this is not true.

funnybunny

1.) 09 Jul 2015 10:50:20
Yes I posted this yesterday and today it is getting more precise with a player coming the other way

2.) 09 Jul 2015 10:50:51
I hope it is, turning the corner is more hope than expectation when it comes to him, he doesn't have the minerals if you ask me.

3.) 09 Jul 2015 11:30:14
Well I see a lot of people are in favour of ADM leaving. If he leaves then I don't see any other player coming in. We don't want to end up like Liverpool of last season where so many new players didn't know how to play together. Obviously Ashley Young will be the one filling his boots. Hopefully people will be happy with him instead of ADM.

4.) 09 Jul 2015 12:06:23
The only player involved in the deal will be van der wiel? But we don't need him!

5.) 09 Jul 2015 12:16:24
If ADM is joining PSG and that RVP is joining Fenerbache I would have thought Cavani is the most likely player to be included in the deal

6.) 09 Jul 2015 12:46:31
Not going anywhere. He's battle hardened for the prem and class. Granted first season was mixed but give the guy a chance this season there's a reason we bought him and if he fulfils he'll s*** on hazard. Remember people classed evra and vidic s*** after debut seasons and we know what happened there.

Apparently, spanish press yesterday reported that UTD would accept 25m for DDG , only for "senior sources" at united to rubbish that claim. saying only a world record GK bid will do, otherwise he can stay for the extra year and leave for nothing. Big Brass Ones on Woody if that's the case.

1.) 03 Jul 2015 09:30:14
About time United stood firm, too many times they have let players go too cheaply.

2.) 03 Jul 2015 09:59:38
Like nani

3.) 03 Jul 2015 10:04:30
I think the reason were able to stand strong on this is because we have valdes as no2 which means were not desperate to find a replacement if ddg goes last min

4.) 03 Jul 2015 10:56:48
I think getting Valdes in the Jan window will turn out to be an exceptionally shrewd piece of business.

5.) 03 Jul 2015 11:13:30
Agreed great hindsight from the butcher in tieing up victor in january

6.) 03 Jul 2015 22:25:43
Piggy

It's much easier getting money for a player when they are in demand. It's a bit trickier when no one is interested. It's like selling yer car mate.

Apparently United, having agreed a deal in principle, opted for RVP over Lewandowski in 2012 - load of bull me thinks.

funnybunny

1.) 29 Jan 2016 10:07:40
In Fergie's book he explains that they only turned to RVP when it became clear that Lewandoski had decided to join Bayern.

2.) 29 Jan 2016 10:13:26
From what I can rememeber we were interested in both at the time. I think we opted for RvP in the end due to his premier league experience and because he really wanted the move and pushed for it.

In hindsight you may be able to look at it and think maybe it was the wrong decision. But RvP was a massive part of our last title, and we have no idea how Lewandowski would have adapted to the EPL. A million different things could have happened. He could have moved and had a career ending injury the following week.

It doesn't pay to look back and wonder what could have been. People only tend to do it when the chips are down. If we were defending EPL champions no one would care what might have been 4 years.
Its just another case of the press having a sly swipe at us. Ignore it is the best advive I can give you.

3.) 29 Jan 2016 10:55:32
Like I said. i think its BS. I for one have no regrets about RVP, even though it was short lived.

4.) 29 Jan 2016 12:03:12
If we didn't sign RVP, Manchester City would have and that would have most likely won them the title that year. He was hungry to win something and with Fergie wanting to go out with a bang, RVP was a no-brainer at the time. Although Lewy was definitely a huge miss for the long-term.

5.) 29 Jan 2016 16:36:38
Like Danny says there are a couple of paragraphs in sir alex' book that explain it.

13 Jan 2016 07:47:29
I might get crucified for this but here goes. I'm beginning to worry/ have my doubts about Mike Smalling. Is he really as good as everybody wants us to believe? He looks solid most of the time when everybody is sitting deep protecting the back four and we look as dangerous going forward as mickey mouse, however, in the two games this season (Wolfsburg away and Newcastle last night) that we actually played with an attacking mindset, he was absolute terrible. could it be that that he's just not that good or could it be he just had two off-days - the latter would seem too convenient an explanation. I'm not sure sure anymore.

funnybunny

{Ed025's Note - i think he is decent FB but he is not a natural leader, you need someone along side him who is more vocal and experienced mate..

1.) 13 Jan 2016 09:27:55
I've been saying this all season, it's not just Smalling we are very weak on CB's. There is a reason we play with two holding midfielders most of the time and the fullbacks are held back and it's the CBs.

I made a comparrison to Spurs yesterday as they play a similar formation, their width comes from their fullbacks, Poch rotates them more than any other position as they are expected to get forward. It's obvious our CB don't allow us to do this.

I wrote a statement that I got slated for about how Smalling should be giving most of his wages to the players around him as they are making him look far better than he is, I stand by it. How many times has DDG saved us? Why else have two covering CM's? Why else hold the fullbacks back? As you say when we play attacking football the CB look very suspect.

I think we need a new pairing, I'd sell Smalling as he would command the highest fee.

2.) 13 Jan 2016 09:52:54
I wouldn't sell smalling, he is still a good player and excellent in one on one situations, just gets caught out positionally occasionally, and as he usually has blind next to him it's exaggerated when he messes up because there's no one there to cover most often.
Another top centre back along side him could be very effective, and when Shaw comes back we'll be even stronger.

3.) 13 Jan 2016 10:06:57
For half the season he's been our best player bar De Gea. Then all of a sudden he has one or two games and people are on his back again. He's improved a hell of a lot, being selected to be captain on a few occasions wouldn't happen if he wasn't doing really well. Easy to forget about all the amazing challenges he puts in and aerial battles he wins though isn't it.

4.) 13 Jan 2016 10:08:58
I've said many times we need two top CB's to come in. I would keep Smalling, but he should have to fight for his place.

The issue with Smalling is his positioning. He is strong in the air, is good at timing his tackles and has good recovery pace. But he needs a very ridgid system around him to keep him in his position. It probably stems from his non league back ground. He wasn't taught or had the corrwct positioning drilled into him as a youngster. Had he been in a Premier league academy at the age of 10/ 11 on wards he would he an exceptional defender now.

He needs someone to hold his hand through the game and keep him in the right position. A more vocal goalkeeper may even be benifical for him.

5.) 13 Jan 2016 10:29:27
Although Smalling had a pretty bad game, there were other defenders who were even worse. Darmian looked lost when they attacked, for a full back he is very slow and does not offer anything going forward.
I think he sometimes has to do extra work keeping in mind that the other defenders alongside him are not so good, Blind and darmian's lack of pace was the real problem along with the mistakes made by smalling.

6.) 13 Jan 2016 10:36:34
Ozwald, has he looked good because the team is set up to protect the CB's at the expense of the attack? In my opinion, yes.

Smalling was slated for a couple of seasons and now he's apparently our best player. Why? What's changed? The level of protection the CB pair get has changed.

I believe with a strong CB pairing the manager would not play two holding midfielders and allow the fullbacks forward more.

At the end of last season if we were told Smalling/ Blind would be our CB pairing people would of lost it. Football is a team game and the team in my opinion is being set up to cover the weak areas at the expense of the attack.

7.) 13 Jan 2016 12:54:29
Yes, Smalling looks better with good defensive midfield cover, but the reason he needs it is because of the rest of the defence. Blind is not a good CB for the EPL, Darmian is struggling and was in any event purchased as a right back not left where he played last night. The worst non-signing over the summer was no CB but its been exacerbated by misfortune. LVG may have hoped Jones/ Rojo would have stepped up to the plate, and who's to say had either of them had a run of games that they wouldn't. The loss of Shaw was absolutely critical, not only for his defensive qualities but also his speed up the left which might have helped Memphis.

It's hard to lose some of your best players even when your team is deep and settled. When you're rebuilding virtually from scratch it can be disastrous. I'm not sure it's fair to blame LVG for that. He's clearly caught between a rock and a hard place.

8.) 13 Jan 2016 14:13:54
Got to admit, but Smalling was dog poor last night. It was like the Smalling of last season, all over the place and doing erratic things, like showing off his Roman Greco wrestling skills.

9.) 13 Jan 2016 14:59:36
If you insert a John Terry type player in next to Smalling you will get the best outbox him. Someone who will dictate a defense and get them into the right positions. Mike has improved so much and wI'll continue to do but needs help.
Is there anyone out there like that we could bring in?

10.) 13 Jan 2016 10:47:40
yeah you're probably right on that ed.

Watched highlights of the 08/09 premier league last night - rooney was amazing back then. also reminded me that we then had rooney, ronaldo tevez and berbatov as our front 4.now i'm really depressed.

People forget how phenomenol a player was in his prime. I said the other day he was better than Ibrahimovic at his peak, and I stand by that.

If memory serves, sir alex sometimes targeted players who did well against united. ronaldo, saha? From what i;ve seen, Berahino has always performed against us. maybe, just maybe?

Rafael was sold because he was said to be too "reckless". I wonder what LVG would make of Pepe

. you only need to look at Portugal's opening world cup 2014 game if you want an idea of why nobody wants him near our team.

Pogba is doing fine. I thought the team did well last night considering how the opposition set up, looked like a narrow pitch and they squeezed everything through the middle with 10 players behind the ball almost the entire match. Was an absolute borefest because of this.

Apparently teixera has pulled a hammy just short of 2 minutes after LFC bid for him. so that won't be happening anytime soon.
