we all want the big name signings but that hasn't always worked well for us. i think signing players with potential is a much better way to go forward aka d. james. yeah he might flop but he didn't cost us 70+ mill. he could also turn out to be the next world class player we have. so from this i think we should look to the future. we as fans need to be patient. its not an overnight fix. players need to get used to a style of play if they can adapt (younger players could be better if given time) . my transfer targets would be for

rb - awb, lukas klosterman
cb - ruben dias, nico elvedi, ibrahima konate, dayot upamecano, vallejo
cm - rodrigo betancur, sandro tonali, youri tielemans, frederico valverde.
rw - frederico chiesa, leon bailey.
st - patrick cutrone, seb haller

in the past especially during SAF's last years we let a lot of high potential players go to our rivals. we had a much higher player pulling power then and i was disappointed we didn't try to sign some of those players eg. aguero, david silva, kompany, these players are the spine of cities winning team. we have to make moves for high potential players.

I don't want the "big name" signings. Actually I think you'd be hard pushed to find anybody on here that does.

Perhaps just Mr. Deadwood for marketing reasons.

I don’t think people want big name signings. They just want quality players who are willing to work hard and who fit the style of play we are seeking to play. We are all just sick and tired of players not giving their all and who quite frankly couldn’t care less about the predicament we are in. You’ve listed some very promising players but they are not ready to make the step up imo. We need a sprinkle of potential/ young talent with consistent seasoned performers. Our issue is we seem to be trying to bring in only talented young players without realising what environment they are coming into. This is not united of old with winners setting the standard. It’s very easy for these youngsters to be influenced by the wrong attitude.

atm i would take any signing.

pre season starts in a week,

only 1 player signed.

That is the problem we need to put the football 1st. We might be signing great sponsorship deals with all these random companies and making money. But that will all dry up when we're struggling to get into Europe. We need to buy the right player regardless of how marketable they are. If we are playing well, winning games and challenging for trophies that's all the marketing you need.

Bolger how many epl clubs have signed more. Relax signings will be made.

6.) 26 Jun 2019 04:37:49
Ken, how many biggest epl clubs finished 6th last season and how many clubs actually need the kind of turnover in the squad that we need? Would this question answer your question?

As on superstars, i started watching United in 99/ 00 and have made it ny religion since. But i am from India and football isn't as big here as it is in let's say UK. Its hard enough for me to make my kid a football fan when there's cricket on. Its tougher to ask him to follow us because as per him we are boring, we don't win and he doesn't recognize any players except Pogba who won the world cup. When i tell him that Pogba is a bad influence and shouldn't play for us, he simply asks why should i watch this team then, for whom?

So its easier for you guys sitting in England to say we need youngsters and not superstars but do remember we lose our global appeal and lose out on fans when we go down that road.

7.) 26 Jun 2019 08:48:17
Nonsense UA. How many superstars purchased for top dollar were in the 99 team.

8.) 26 Jun 2019 09:45:22
Where did i say top dollar ken? But i do remember there was a certain David Beckham who was a celebrity even then. Now before you tell me beckham was a academy product and all that, it was in the last millennium and we are not. Anyway, my point os that we do lose global appeal when we do not have big name players or are not winning regularly. My point is youngsters would pay to watch a Hazard rather than a daniel james, would pay to watch pogba than a mctominay, dame for zlatan vs rashford etc etc.

id be happy with odegaard. he has really been growing into a fantastic player. he was having a stella season. he has an eye for a pass and can dribble. i think if we can offer first team football it might encourage him to come. the main problem is who to buy to replace pogba.
