Just a question for ed.

Reading a bit of stuff on the internet about man utd having been in contact with mourinho. Do you believe this to have happened or for this sort of thing to be normal type behaviour for a football club before the current manager has been sacked?

siralex

{Ed001's Note - I do not know of any contact with Mourinho with regards to managerial roles. I am guessing this is more people putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 457 because United have dealings with his agent. As for normal behaviour, it does happen that clubs look to line up a replacement before removing the current manager, but I do not believe that Jose is being lined up at all. Though I am very certain he would take the job if it was offered to him.}

1.) 20 Jan 2016 07:37:18
Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

2.) 20 Jan 2016 08:59:14
I think Mourinho is already lined up to take over in the summer. Something came out in the Italian press a few weeks ago saying as much. And then today lots of articles saying that Lvg could quit 1 year early in the summer. Whatever anybody thinks about mourinho, I think he's as near a perfect fit as possible.

3.) 20 Jan 2016 09:38:54
If United really wanted Mourinho he'd be in the job already.

4.) 20 Jan 2016 10:14:46
But we already have a manager bilko. Maybe they could hold hands?

5.) 20 Jan 2016 13:30:56
Maureen is nowhere near a perfect fit.

6.) 20 Jan 2016 15:50:34
Maureen wouldn't be Mort, Mourinho maybe.

7.) 20 Jan 2016 18:57:16
Instead of guessing, why not just ring 118 212 and ask her?

8.) 21 Jan 2016 13:11:21
Betty,

Brilliant!

9.) 21 Jan 2016 22:05:11
Good job someone got it GDS. Hardly worth bothering these days.

10.) 22 Jan 2016 08:19:46
Well i'm not from the UK, but would have guessed from the context it's some kind of clairvoyant hotline.
Is it?

If so I loved the joke!

11.) 22 Jan 2016 14:18:46
Jonny, "Maureen" is a well known brand in the UK and is a telephone directory enquiries service. The catchphrase on their TV and online advert is "call Maureen on 118 212". She is not a real person!

{Ed001's Note - glad you explained that, I just assumed you were in need of a chat with Frank!}

lol Ed001, me and Frank are well acquainted, but he is on an 0300 number. Can't remember the rest of it, but I guess I could ring Maureen again as she will have Franks number for sure :)

No doubt everyone else is wondering what the fig is going on here!

{Ed001's Note - not just them, I still have no idea what Maureen is!}

14.) 22 Jan 2016 18:51:09
Anyone remember 0891-50-50-50 - good old days of the late 90's as you are getting your thrills from Channel 5's erotica, then comes on that famous advert?

15.) 22 Jan 2016 19:50:16
My head hurts 😆😆.

16.) 23 Jan 2016 01:58:24
Beast,

Unfortunately yes I remember that number, does it still work, not rang it for years!

It's more 118 two one twowhoo isn't it Betty?

17.) 23 Jan 2016 07:48:40
Yeah, that's the one GDS. Or there is of course 118 118. Who you going to call?

Shame its old now, because I find this thread very funny - it all makes perfect sense but no-one else seems to have a clue what the hell its all about 😂😂😂.

18.) 23 Jan 2016 11:59:46
GDS2 - I was the guy with the handle bar moustache lifting weights!

First time poster long time reader,

Just a quick one on some horrendous journalism going on, multiple sites have run with it. Ed woodward will "scout" laporte while he's in barcelona, just another reason why you should be careful before letting yourself become excited about something you read in the paper, cheers gang looking forward to throwing my two pennies worth in on future ramblings, congrats on the site it truly has been a pleasure reading it all these years

siralex

{Ed025's Note - welcome aboard mate..

1.) 18 Aug 2015 13:52:00
I think will be good a scouting a sponsorship deal in Azerbaijan but certainly not a player

Morning everyone.

Well january is here and i know we've all got our ideas on who we need to bring in and what needs to change, so i thought i'd share my opinion.

When i watch us every week i can't help thinking back to last year versus spurs and liverpool even the chelsea defeat and I've been amazed that all this season we havnt played 4-3-3 but maintained 2 holding/ defensive midfielders, i believe that this coupled with a lack of pace and creativity up front aswell as not having a settled XI all year has brought us to where we are now. I strobgly believe we need to persevere with the 4-3-3 and add a couple of players to the squad and i think wed be ok.

So I've been reading a lot recently about positions people think we need to strenghthen and i see people saying the left back position and but i think that's the last place we need to look at, if luke shaw is fit then its his and if he's not then its one of either blind or rojo and if neither of them are fit then its the young lad borthwick jackson who i think has been impressive given his age and experience. So why buy someone whos going to be a stop gap until shaw is fit? .

CB is definately a spot that needs looking at and of high quality to everytime i watch stones he stands out by miles looks like he's going to be a superstar, and its what united do. We buy the best of english.

Juan mata to me as much as i like him isn't a united player i feel he slows things down i would look to a quick direct player moura, townsend even, that sort of player. but griezman stands out for me and would be my choice, of course i doubt hell be allowed to leave but i think he should be number one.

A striker definately but i would bring wilson back too think he deseves to be given time on the pitch especially with the way rooney has played he's quick and he would cause more problems i believe than our captain.

All this being said these are just my thoughts and would love to just see us playing consistent football of a level to make us all proud.

Be good to hear other peoples views.

siralex

1.) 31 Dec 2015 08:48:43
2 positions need immediate improvement! A Striker and a Right Winger! CB and RB will be a secondary positions to look at. Priority will be goal scoring striker and a pacey skillful and daring Right Winger.

2.) 31 Dec 2015 09:16:23
intelligent Very short term but i still think making a play for Ibrahimovic would make sense for the next year.
Would allow Rooney to play 10 or tip of Midfield. he is no longer a number 9.
He would give us a strong. outlet, he us intelligent and would bring others into play and give us an extra aerial threat.
Yes it could all blow up. but sell him the chance of galvanising the beast that is Manchester United and I think he would come. the Eds have also said PSG would sell.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United have no interest in him whatsoever. It is not going to happen.}

The board have had plenty of time to issue a statement quelling the rumours but havnt. That speaks volumes.

siralex

1.) 21 Dec 2015 07:00:00
What rumours?

2.) 21 Dec 2015 07:28:14
No comment.

3.) 21 Dec 2015 07:32:35
If the Board issued a statement every time there was a rumour it would be a circus. Quite rightly' they will issue a statement if they have something to say.

4.) 21 Dec 2015 07:59:59
I think if there was no issue with lvg they would of come out and given a statement of support given the ammount of stick he's got over the last 24 hours.

I agree they wouldn't and shouldn't say something everytime there's a rumour but this is a lot different you either backing the manager or not.

And by saying nothing and allowing rumours of "being sacked in 24-48 hours" or "hes got 2 games to save his job" its sends the msg to the fans that there's truth in it.

Im just saying there must be truth in it. And i wouldn't be suprised if he's gone if we don't get 3 points fron stoke.

{Ed001's Note - but if they comment, then it will be then be spun as 'the dreaded vote of confidence' and crank up the pressure.}

5.) 21 Dec 2015 08:14:59
True. Sometimes i guess you can't win, even a little "leak" supporting him maybe i'm not not a media aficionado but can you honestly tell me there's not an ounce of truth in it.

{Ed001's Note - the club is always reviewing the position at all times, so there will always be an ounce of truth in it.}

6.) 21 Dec 2015 08:31:45
AJH, what's more worrying now is that they (board) seem to have nothing to say.

7.) 21 Dec 2015 08:44:49
Com on ed what do you thinks happening?

{Ed001's Note - nothing right now, there is pressure building but that's all that seems to be happening. I think LVG is on the verge of walking away though, he seems resigned to the fact that it is not working, so I do think it is just a matter of time before he goes, one way or another. When you have the attitude he seems to have right now, then you are not going to change things.}

8.) 21 Dec 2015 09:10:24
100% agree i think the writings on the wall. Definate demeanor change. And even if we beat chelsea and stoke then draw a coupke or lose another one then mourinhos name crops up again.

9.) 21 Dec 2015 09:24:45
And the big question is who will take the job going forward and when are they avaible, and if they want giggs, is he ready or has he got what it takes to manage a big club, I don't think he is ready, even though I think Jose should take over is he the type of manager they want, and has Bobby Carlton a big say in all of this.

Deep lying midfieder fron what I've seen breaks it up gets stuck in but also has the ability to break with pace. A fantastic prospect at only 18.

Looks an outstanding talent gets pushed off the ball a bit from what I've seen but still only 18 has great pace with the ball and looks to have bags of potential.

I still think that the best players would love to come, but the best players belong to other great clubs who don't want to sell. Thereforw we need to nuture or buy young and buy potential and buy the future neymar, muller and bale if theye not available now.everybodys worried but shouldn't be we shouldn't expect the league this season we've always thought long term and that shouldn't change i hate all these quick signings

Got to say i love casemiro. Thought he with modric were MOM in champs league final. Yeah he's a bit dirty. But think he's made for premier league. It is also hard to say that a dm is world class. What is world class anymore anyway. there's ronaldo and messi then there's different levels of players that are suited to different systems where one supposed "world class" player for one team turns out to be nothing but, for another team. (Di maria) . World class i believe is based on consistency at a top level. Of which you can probably count on one hand the players that meet this level.

Ronaldo
Messi
Suarez
Neymar
De gea
Neuer

Alright maybe two hands. Just.

I coach at a pretty decent level. i'm not saying i'm pep or jose but i'd take attitude over talent any day. (Of course talent is important) but my point is you don't need a team of world class players to have a world class team.

I see everyday that united get frustrated at signings and saying he isn't good enough or he isn't a united player. And this sort of opinion frustrates me i understand the desire for big names and how excited it makes everybody. But team balance and harmony within the group. Player personality has to count for alot.

This started as me questioning what is world class and my liking for casemiro and it turned into something else. For that i apologise. As you were.

Sorry ronnie but an absolutely woeful argument about the addidas/ nike thing. what the hell does that have to do with anything. If anything addidas would prefer to have ronaldo as it would sellmore shirts than dybala and morata combined.

Wow i'm astonished by your lack of appreciation. Its an opinion based game i get that but you seem to totally discredit his career and what he's acheived. I think its easy to say looking at his effectiveness now that he's underacheived as far as potential goes but it seems your reluctant to realise how much and how special he was. Neymar is a great player but messi and suarez make him better that's what great players do. I get your opinion i really do but you can't discredit the man whole career when he's acheived so much.

Have to disagree on rooney ed.
At 18 he was a beast but raw at 23-24 he bacame almost the unsung hero i loved the way he played him and scholes stitched everything together from the back to front for ronaldo to take most of the plaudits he's always been a fantastic finisher and in a rubbish english side he's manged more goals than anyone previously so to say he wouldn't of been so highly rated is a bit off imo.

siralex

{Ed001's Note - whereas I think he was a headless chicken that never evolved and lived off Ronaldo and Scholes' greatness to make him look like he was special. Managing more goals for teams playing more games than ever before is hardly a special achievement.}
