for Utd Banter please.

how many of my fellow Utd fans share the following opinion: England stand very little chance of getting out of their group!

for the record, I think they will finish bottom on 1pt gained from a draw with costa rica

I think we will draw with Italy, beat Uruguay and draw with Costa Rica - finishing second behind Italy. We shouldn't have too much trouble with Japan/Columbia but will lose to Brazil in the quarter finals.

3rd on 4 points.

As a Welshman I couldn't care less but.

I think youll finish 2nd and qualify by the skin of your teeth.

Italy don't impress me; in most tournaments, there is one England game that gives the media the chance to claim 'the Three Lions are rising, this is our year'.

That game will be this weekend, youll beat Italy 1-0 in a boring game, then Uruguay will beat you comfortably and you'll beat C Rica 2-0 or 3-0 to qualify.

You'll also win your 2nd round game, but will get a tumping in the quarters.

3 draws for me but just hope we get a win, the group will be one of if not the most tightest of the tournament. Costa Rica will be no mugs. Look at Ecuador, Costa Rica are normally quite a big quick side with stamina.

5.) 09 Jun 2014
I think we will finish 1st, 2-1/ 1-1 draw/ 2-0 win
7 points

6.) 09 Jun 2014
I think it will be 2nd on 4 points.

Italy - Draw
Peru - Win
Uruguay - Lose

Im with you brendan.
For all the talk of a young, attacking side full of pace I actually think its the worst squad England have taken to a world cup since the 80s and have a feeling it won't last long. 3rd in the group for me but tbh i'm more bothered about getting our team fixed than england (and i'm english)

8.) 09 Jun 2014
I think england will top the group and surpdise a few

Red Sky I didn't realise you were a fellow Welshman. You've just gone up in my estimation :-) At times I find the whole drama surrounding England in the press as embarrassing as they build them up into superstars just to knock them back down again after a failure. I think they're a decent team with some exciting young players, personally i'd be looking to build towards the Euro's by playing the best youngsters. Its not like they'll be getting past the quarters either way IMO

Depends on Hodgson. If he picks our young, pacy talents and sets them up to attack with an intelligent game plan, then I think we can do well (quarter finals).

If we play conservatively and pick players on their reputation (I'm looking at you Wayne), then I can see South Africa 2010 all over again.

It's all about the confidence and the momentum. Young players coming of the back of a good season will play without fear and if they are given the vote of confidence to go and do what they do best then good things could happen.

I think we will qualify, and reach the quarters.
