Was a disgraceful thing to do. I am actually a fan of Carragher as a pundit he’s surprised me. But spitting at someone is the lowest of the low. I would rather be punched in the face than spat at. He has to be sacked.

Understand the goading would piss him off, but to spit on a child? if he is not sacked then I give up.

There is no place for such things in this society. Absolutely awful by the man of his stature.

Sky have no choice but to quite rightly sack him, I have only seen one person on Twitter defending him and that is Piers Morgan, if he is the only person on your side you know you are in trouble.

Disgusting behaviour from him and from the driver who hopefully the police find and charge with using a mobile phone and driving.

I've said similar, however the longer it takes for Sky to come out and say he's sacked the less likely it will happen in my opinion.
I think if he isn't sacked by tomorrow evening then he isn't likely to be.

However, if he's not I do wonder how he will react next time he's commentating on a game where a player spits at someone.

it’s crazy how you can potentially ruin your reputation or career in a single action in the heat of the moment.

Sacking seems a bit harsh sky have suspended him which I feel is fair especially when the father of the girl was the one who goaded carragher, not defending him but that idiot was deliberately trying to picking a fight with the whole video recording and all.

If you worked in tesco and spat at a customer you would be sacked. If you worked in the bank and spat at a customer you would be sacked.
If i was police i'd track the driver and ensure he got points on his licence for using phone while driving.
Carragher has done well and gained a lot of respect as a pundit but that sort of behaviour is totally unprofessional and is a sacking offence.
He will get a job in 12 months time on another network i'm sure but he will and should pay with his job for his actions.

CSM,

A suspension like this is just a way of delaying so that they can make a proper decision through the proper process rather than a snap decision. I’m not sure how this could go through any disciplinary where he isn’t sacked.

Interesting you think it’s ok to spit at someone if they are being a bit of an idiot and goading you, I’d either ignore it or tell them to piss off myself.

GDS don't think it is ok, but whatever the punishment should come from the police, surely he must have violated some sort of traffic rules spitting on passengers of a car but losing his job for an act he was clearly provocated into is harsh. If we are going to punish carragher by sacking him from his job for that then surely the father must also be banned from future utd matches as he clearly was the reason the whole incident took place.

Liverpool here in peace. Just saw the video. I agree he should be sacked. What would your workplace or organisation do if someone did that. And what sort of message would it give if he were allowed back. The guy wasn’t even provoking him or being abusive. Obviously says a lot about him. I say he should go. And I’d say the same for anyone who did it. It’s not about football it’s about being a decent human.

Csm,

You want to ban anybody who uses their phone behind the wheel from paying and going watching United matches? We aren’t saying ban carragher from watching football just that he should lose his job in the public eye that he gets thousands of pounds to do. You must see the difference here, nobody defending the guy and he’s clearly an idiot but that doesn’t make what carragher did any better.
