Frustration is high about transfer targets and the lack of activity. I believe the players linked with potential moves to United and are making public statements about being happy at Bayern etc, is just part of the transfer process. Contractually players have big loyalty payments built into their contracts and don't want to loose out and agents are usually on a percentage of contractual earnings too. Clubs also incentives players to extend or renew contracts to achieve higher transfer fees (Koke is potentially one of these this summer). Agents will also be playing both sides if official approaches are going on and will advise the player to make statements that best reflect their negotiating position and then they can often completely reverse their position IE see which side will give the best terms to stay or go.

I suspect the players that do come in this summer will not all be drawn from the newspaper and website links, but its hard not to hope that Reus or Kroos will land or that Fabergas may come in. In essence though United are looking at our 3rd set of targets, last Summer we had Fergie's list which was mainly overlooked by Moyes and then his lists was to much for Ed Deadwood to go shopping for while he still had his 'L' plates on. Now we have the second and revised list from Moyes being changed for LVG's targets. Meanwhile we have annoyed mainly clubs and agents due to dithering, low offers for players and not following through with intended targets. So good luck with removing the 'L' plates Ed Deadwood, hopefully LVG will have a heavier black book of contacts than Moyse to help this time!

1.) Good post in general but i'm not sure about the dithering and upsetting agents/clubs as we never have the full story only newspaper reports which could or could not contain any basis of fact. I think we all have players we would like at the club and the amount of players linked can lead to us believing in some way the club has failed when paper reports of x signing do not come to fruition. I love this site and visit every day but we have had posters stating nailed on players like sneider, garay, kroos etc based on paper rumour etc which then turn out to be horlicks. We all care for utd and want the best but think its better if we leave it to the club to do their business and if Woodward fails to bring in lvg targets then the club can take whatever action it sees fit. I think it is more important that lvg gets across his ideas and gets the team buying in to the team ethos. We have good promising youth and existing talent that i'm sure will be added to, whether it is added too with names in press only time will tell. Ps with regard to youth remember you don't win anything with kids lol

2.) . and if things weren't bad enough, now there's talk of selling Mata, one of our best players! P*ss ups and breweries come to mind!

3.) OT7, there is no talk of selling Mata. There's a rumour suggesting Barcelona have an interest in Mata and there's a journalist who believes Mata may not fit into LvG's plans. Other than that there is nothing else.

This is the first time I have posted on the site but I am a long time reader. Frustration is high at the moment on here due to lack of activity.

Point one.

Rooney not travelling means he is negotiating a new contract with us or he is on his way. If he renews then great, he is a class act but has a bad advisor.

Point 2.

United have written to Everton to apologise over the approach for Moyes. This has only happened to smooth relations as we are in for Baines and or Big Hair Fellani.

Point 3.

Madrid prepared to pay 15M Euro's after tax for 5 year Ronaldo extension. Its time to let it go, United will not get anywhere near this - covered by TV and newspapers.

Point 4.

Fabergas is looking for a higher standing within the Nou Camp pecking order and a new deal to reflect this. Contrary to the many statements Barca are happy to do a deal, but our 3rd offer needs to be 40M in total including add on's. This will allow Barca to strengthen their backline.

My best guess is the next week will see an announcement that Rooney has a signed a new contract. Fellani signs and Fabergas becomes the next no 7!

United shot themselves in the foot with the talk of marquee signings.

Keep the faith!

1.) Well doesn`t that contradict the final 3 lines of your rant. Fabregas to become the next No 7 but United shoot themselves in the foot over marquee signings as surely Fabregas would be considered marquee.

Annie thanks for your response.

Fabergas would be considered a marquee signing but I don't see this as a contradiction. Typically we get our signings in early and quietly, but this year we have announced that we have an 'open budget' and a desire to sign at least one if not two established midfield players. It not exactly a strong hand in our negotiating position.

Thanks.
