where are all those people who said we won't compete this season

I think this is a monumental effort considering we have been surrounded by big spenders like city, chelsea, liverpool which makes it near impossible to challenge for the league.

dont say we haven't won it still, we won't repeat like last season
because we are better

1.) I for one am amazed we are so many points clear. Yet we haven't played particularly well or as good football as in previous seasons. The signing of RVP certainly boosted us plus I believe the sheer will and determination of the manager is what we are seeing on the pitch, it is making us win games we struggled at before. That can be shown by the comebacks we have made.
Games like yesterday were ones we often slipped up in yet whilst not playing particularly well we won and it piles pressure on City.

We should also not discount the fall of standards at City, their purchases last summer and their lack of team spirit has let them down and they haven't competed as expected this season, so far. In fact we have benefitted by both Chelsea and Arsenal not being top level and the fall off from City.
We have won tight games and the others haven't but whilst stats say this is the best points at this stage for me we have had better teams. There is a hole in our midfield and left side but sheer determination has got us through. Credit to the manager for that.

Now we enter the final furlong, we have won nothing yet and we must show the same fight in every game. I can't see us winning in Europe and have a sneaky feeling the winners will come from Germany. The lead in the premiership is great but I will remain nervous until it is sure.

Finally after last season I hope we can win it at home against City, that would make up for last season with bells on.

2.) We have certainly had better first XI's, but this is the best squad we have had. Just imagine if Rooney & Valencia were playing as well as they have previously. We were a very good squad last season too, the problem with last season is we had huge injury problems whereas City had very few injury problems.

It's about time the squad got the appreciation they deserve. The manager does the talking, the players do the walking.

Sydney!

3.) Red man
good post couldn't agree more

Red Man,

With out a doubt the most honest assessment I've seen on your season so far.

The only point I would disagree with is that a win at Old Trafford to take the title against City will not come close to Aguero's goal last season. That one moment will be replayed for ever. A win for you at Old Trafford will just form part of written history.

5.) This season we may not have the most flashy brilliance, but imo this is one of the most determined Manchester United side I have seen. Every single player looks as though they are hurting from that loss last year and just puts in that extra mile.

The workrate (apart from Evra at times) and belief has just been superb.

When you see a player like Nani who is supposed to be on his way out tracking back like that and putting in a crunching challenge it says a lot.

Welbeck may not be the best finisher we have seen but he just doesn't give the opposition a moment's peace, winning the ball back for the 2nd goal yesterday.

Phil jones doing that job on ronaldo in madrid. Just phenomenal work ethic and character this season.

Sir Alex definitely deserves credit, but I think many of our own fans have underestimated this manchester united side. The money spent on RVP seems like a steal right now. We have played this season as a team, better than the sum of its counterparts.

Most importantly, this United side may not control games or dominate opposition but this team has a strange way of creating genuine goalscoring opportunities. The opposition may control the games, but somehow we manage to carve out the most clear cut chances.

6.) I was one, shocked how far ahead we are, we haven't played brilliantly all season bar the odd game, but we're cruising.

City have dropped the ball a few times, Chelsea are a shadow of their former selves, same for Arsenal. We're 1-2 signings away from being the total package, IMO.

Surely moyes deserve the credit for signing mata, its good to see the club backing moyes, with a cm and and a lb I think we can reach top 4 and we have lost to far worse teams in cup competitions
