Shappy - Nobody is panicking, just stating the obvious.

Out of interest, as it stands, where do you think we’ll finish next season?

Mbeumo has the option of another year by the way.

Shappy, you lost me when you said you liked the core of this squad.

Aside from maybe four players — Bruno, Amad, Yoro, and Cunha — I honestly don't see anyone else forming a core worth building around. The rest of this team? They're the reason we were in the mess we were last season. They're simply not good enough.

I understand that overhauling 25 players in one window is unrealistic. But bringing in just one reinforcement so far? That’s nowhere near acceptable. People aren’t “panicking” — they’re rightly frustrated at the lack of progress, both in terms of signings and communication from the club.

What’s even more frustrating is seeing some fans dismiss genuine concern as “silly” or “overreacting. ” We’re not asking for miracles — just a sign that the club understands the need for change and is acting on it.

I truly hope to be proven wrong by the end of the window. I hope more deals are done and we look more competitive. But right now, we’re lagging behind the clubs who are getting their business done.

So yes, we’re angry. And yes, we’re vocal. And we have every right to be.

DLIB, I'd forgotten about the one year option. Either way surely common sense prevails.

Personally, I'd place the move on the back burner and try and secure Watkins, let Brentford sweat for a little while, and secure a player in a position of arguably greater need.

As for where will we finish next season? God knows, there are just far too many variables to even have a semi-accurate wild stab.

Liverpool look like they've done some great business, but whose to say those players work, they might upset the apple cart and Liverpool have a worse season (unlikely maybe, but definitely not impossible) .

I've seen teams have good seasons and make wholesale changes only to decline, and I've seen teams have terrible seasons make only a couple of changes and massively improve.

Where a team finishes in a league is also impacted by the other 19 teams in the league. Some will improve on last season's performance, others will decline. There will be tactical shifts that impact the league and how teams play, there will be three brand new teams in the league, maybe one of them will have a great season and get some surprise results against some of the big boys in the league.

It's entirely possible that we massively improve on our performances, play some great football but still don't crack into the top 8. Or we could improve slightly, still have some very iffy performances at times yet finish 5th.

I want us to finish as high as possible next season, for me if I'm being on the optimistic side of realistic that might be 4th. I don't see anyway we can finish higher than that even if we sign 6 world class players for the first 11. There is just too much ground to make up and in no realm do I see us being to over take any of Liverpool, Arsenal or City next season.

It'd be a phenomenal season to finish 4th, especially when we consider how well Newcastle, Chelsea, and Villa played last season. Finishing a ove those three will be challenging, but possible if any of them stagnate or decline rather than improve. If all three improve on last season's showing then 7th is probably the best we can realistically hope for.

I'm expecting us to be able to overhaul the likes of Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton, and Forest who have all been steadily improving and had great season's last time out. A combination of losing key players, their manager in some cases and playing extra games is likely to see all four not able to match last season's performances.

That said I wouldn't be surprised to see the likes of Everton, Palace and Spurs have better seasons in the league.

I expect us to be a much better team even without a load of signings this summer. Based on the fact that we were steadily improving since January under Amorim, the fact we have a lot of young players who should naturally improve each year as they develop, the fact we have less games and travelling so can focus more on the league and performances, as well as the manager having a proper pre-season to get his squad ready to play how he wants to them to.

If the transfer window slammed shut today and no one could make anymore signings then I'd expect us to finish at least 8th, possibly higher.

While the window stays open we can improve our squad, but then so can everyone else. Based on how we played last season we have more scope to improve than most other teams in the league, and as such I expect to see us have the biggest jump in performances, results, and ultimately where we finish in the table.

We don't even play a preseason game for another week, there is so much that will change between now and when the season starts, and more before the window closes.

Let's not panic (which is what you are doing if you are posting all the negatives on here), and see what occurs.

Agree Kurtis, thing is that we all know how this ends if we don’t get reinforcements in. Amorim will pay the price and INEOS will paint him as the issue. I honestly can’t get my head round it. The club gave massive backing to ETH last year knowing he probably wasn’t the guy and now won’t back the guy they handpicked themselves. ?‍♂️.

You can be angry s you like kurtis work away. Its not very productive but sure, rock on.

I think most fans Kurtis have learned that recently it's not worth getting excited about transfers. I remember not so long ago people saying we had a great window and half of them players went out on loan. But you are welcome as tumble says to be angry about it. I couldn't care less what business they do, I think Amorim will have the team ready for the season coming.

I think more than a little frustration is warranted at the state of this club without being lectured or belittled on a daily basis by a few on here. But agreed, it's possible to be optimistic with it, I'm sure things will happen sooner rather than letter.

Ok to belittle the club and their employees then is it spenno? If people want to dish it out they need to take it back when someone has the opposite opinion. Belittle?????.

I agree with Shappy. Because our economic situation and because we can't change 20 players our best bet is to improve what we have. I like our core. Players Heaven Yoro Dorgu Amad they already are good players and if they stay injury free maybe they can move up a level. Then there are players like De Ligt (personally i am not a big fan but i can understand those who are) Mazraoui Ugarde and even Zirkzee which are solid options but not world class and then there are Bruno and Cunha who can provide goals asists and moments of magic.
Ofcourse we are far from perfect. But with a good pre season and players buying into Amorims style, combine with selling bad eggs and buying except from Mbuemo a goalkeeper and a top midfielder latter in the window i don't see why we can't knocking the door for top 5 given we have only a match per week. Personally after Mpuemo i would go all out for a good keeper and Baleba, then suddenly there is a team.

Kurtis, I guess you and I view things quite differently, but yes I think the core of a good squad is there. Most of them are very young and will take a while to be relied upon regularly mind.

Yoro, Heaven, Dorgu, Amass, Mainoo, Collyer, Amad and Chido Obi are a very exciting young group of players who absolutely could go on to be core players for the club over the next 5-10 years.

I think there are also a very exciting group of players in the academy who might look to step up over the next few years. Players like Harrison, Kamason, Kukonki, Mantato, Kone, Thwaites, the Fletcher twins, Shea Lacey, Ibragimov, new signing Diego Leon and the kid JJ Gabriel.

Obviously not all will make it but many of them look very promising and will likely get more chances under the current ownership set up.

We also have some very good players who might not be the long term solution, but at the very least are excellent squad or short term options. Players like MdL, Martinez, Dalot, Mazraoui, Ugarte, Bruno, Mount and Zirkzee. Along with just adding Cunha.

The way people talk it was as if United had 23 world class stars who'd be the first name on the team sheet at any other club all throughout the 90's and early 00's.

Every great squad has key players who can step in and do a job while not kicking up a fuss when they don't start.

Some of those players are good enough to start, others are great squad options at least as good as anything SAF had on the bench throughout our most successful period.

So yeah, I do think we have the core of a good squad. What we need though is to keep adding to it and for the young players in this squad to step up and reach their potential.

Ken, your posts are all largely highly well-informed and constructive, but for some reason always need to end with a rude personal attack that is yes, belittling. Shame, let's you down somewhat.

Sorry Ken, I thought this was an open forum. I didn't know everything needed to fit your narrative.

Of course its open just because I think you've made a dumb point doesn't mean it is it means I think it is.
Say what you like I'll do the same.
If you think 3 new forwards won't get 30 plus goals and if you think 30 plus goals won't move us up 5 places minimum i think your wrong.
You think its silly to suggest that I've not taken offence I've just made my point. Call me silly all you want if that's what you believe i couldn't care less.
Defend your opinion don't take offence.

We don't need a striker ?

We don’t need a striker LOL… that’s what last manager thought! Got him the sack…. we not scored enough goals for quite a few seasons, to say we don’t need a striker is real red tints view, thinking that Cunha and a player who not even signed for us guarantees us 30 goals because that’s what they scored last season is living in some sort of parallel universe, I am afraid football don’t work like that, besides all pie in the sky because one of those not even signed yet
Actually also It won’t be extra 30 goals because there was players playing those positions last year that did score a few too, that we now lose…
Now I see you suggest we don’t sign a GK and play a rookie in there and the kids in other positions too. Wow championship here we come, so glad your not the manager.
