The problem is, responsible journalists are staying it. Mitten, Whitwell etc.

Me neither angel. Our tradition of Academy players is unrivalled, yet here we are. Rashford gone, Garnacho going, and potentially Mainoo too.

I'm not saying they are all amazing and should have been retained, but they are all very talented and somewhere along the way we lost our ability to nurture our own. Rashford less so, we did well with him initially and he took a wrong turn somewhere, but Garnacho hasn't developed as we anticipated, and RA seems not to rate Mainoo. Madness.

I would be surprised if this went anywhere unless someone offered good money for him or he/ agent intimated that they had no intention of signing a new contract over the next 6/ 12 months.

I think it is all getting blown up, 2 games into season and from all accounts Amorim likes him and is moulding him into what he needs in CM but not there yet. It is tough for players to not play especially as we do not have Europe games to fill in time but I expect Mainoo to come good.

That being said, with less than a week to go anything could happen this window with the bomb squad and last minute moves.

We hung on to the likes of macheda adnan Williams too long.
I said 6 months ago that the club arranged rows with rashford and garnacho so they they could cash in on their 100% profit to fund a rebuild and that its likely mainoo will be the same and not to be surprised.
I really like mainoo but if he has to go its just the way it is.
Id much rather bruno went but its not likely.
Mainoo imo has a high ceiling. Ajh scoffed at me when I said he would make the euros squad. He didn't play very well but he was in the team. Will he progress to have a great career? Maybe? Probably? But most would have said same about adnan and many others.

Ken, how's the sales worked out so far? Rashford on a loan and Garnacho still here. 0 out the door yet. I said that they handled it poorly and it was on the club that these players were not out the door. They devalued them completely.

Mainoo is a tremendous footballer, far superior to that of Adnan. But I sometimes forget about your superior football knowledge ?.

Simple sign a new contract or ask to leave. Yes he's a brilliant footballer on his day, but they are not as frequent as they used to be. Also think the lack of minutes could have something to do with the contract situation.

Question for you all. Do you pay him 150 k a week? Or would you accept a bid if it means signing a guaranteed starter who would improve the team now?

Personally I hope he stays he does have something about him, but he is not a 150k a week player. Also what would be the next contract demands in 2/ 3 years?

I bet bad because of the way the club have handled each and every one of them.

They shouted it from the rooftops at the start of the window, WE don't WANT THESE PLAYERS. Doing that told every over club that they could get them cheaper than what they are actually worth.

Do the math on who's wanted and who isn't. If you want to keep players values high, you don't kick them to the curb and brief the media that they want to sell. It has lowered their value and has created a huge problem for us when selling them on.

Hey Danny, where do you get your 150k a week insights from?

He's been criticised in public by the coach, a coach that has 24% win rate. There have also been frequent murmurs from very reliable journalists that the club would sell, he has been used incredibly infrequently and again, having such a talented, Manchester boy looking to possibly want away tells to me that all is not right still at the club.

By the way, selling him does not guarantee us a guaranteed starter who improves the team. But Mainoo is a player that improves the team and has shown us many times he is a far better footballer than those ahead of him.

It's pure madness to sell him IMO.

It's the number that has been bandied around for the last 12+ months and probably something realistic that would be asked for. Imo his england caps came way too soon and probably inflated the demands. If your a regular for united and england at the start of negotiations you would go in high. Also you had rash and sancho on massive wages.
