Good morning ed002.
If we have a contract with a player that ends next summer but also have a an option to extend for a year. Must that extention be triggered before January so that player can't negotiate a bosman type move with a club from another country? Thanx.

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Yes i thought so. There for me must address that situation with pogba before jan.
I feel the club have put themselves in a vulnerable situation. Let's hope the club get him to sign before the season starts.
Thanks for the info.

And some posters on here would have you believe that this regime have a plan. We've known Pogba wanted to leave for the last 2 seasons. We're now in position where we either give him a big pay increase to stay or he leaves for free in 9 months time.

The egomaniac that is Woodward won't allow that to happen so I'd imagine a nice wage increase for Paul and a nice wedge also for his agent.

Mumbles. There is no situation where he leaves for free in 9 months. He either signs a new deal (highly likely) or we exercise the one year option in his contract and keep him for another two seasons.

I think he'll sign a new deal too. But if he doesn't, why would we keep a player that doesn't want to be here for an extra year, paying him 300k a week for someone who isn't arsed?

I get exercising our right to extend the contract but making him stay ever longer isn't good for anyone.

Quiet day on the clickbait back to moaning about pogba .
I think he will sign a new contract.

Has Pogba shown anything over the last few years that warrants his wages? That warrants the club begging a player to stay that doesn't want to play here?

There's a reason no one wants him. There are much better alternatives out there.

This isn't Pogba bashing. This is the club yet to make an important decision on a player that wishes to be elsewhere. A competent regime would have had him gone and replaces but yet again we're trying to save face and will probably make him our highest paid player.

Jred, I think Pogba will sign a new deal. His dream transfer just won't happen in my opinion. Barcelona neither have the money or the motivation to sign him. While Real Madrid have shown an interest, that has mostly been driven by Zidane. They can't afford him this summer and next summer they are going all in for Mbappe.

If he doesn't sign a new deal I think the club will keep him this year and activate the one year extension as well. Meaning he wouldn't be free to leave until 2022. When he'll be approaching 30, it's a big gamble to let your contact run down at that point. A serious injury could scupper any potential deal.

I see him signing a new deal before Christmas, it will be for more money than anyone else would be prepared to pay him. I'd wager 350k plus a week. He will then stay with us until he is 31/ 32 then leave to PSG or Juventus for a few years followed maybe by a year or two in the US.

Hopefully he gets his head down and maybe with better players around him and less responsibility on his shoulders he can flourish and play his best football.

To be fair, he hasn't looked like he couldn't be arsed. Despite my doubts about him, his professionalism isn't one of them.
