Club and rashford have agreed on his surgery, will happen next week so he's out till October. Wish this had been done sooner but as others have said the surgeon wasn't available until now. Hopefully he gets pain free and firing for the Xmas period and second half of the season 🤞👍.

Bollix the surgeon was not available since May.
The last should have been pulled from the euros.
It is what it is.
The most sickening part is that God awful martial will probably have to play.
I'm not sure if martial or ole turn my stomach more.

Unfortunately, we all know that this means more minutes for Martial and James, when it’s glaringly obvious that Elanga should be the one to benefit, or even Amad.

Would be more than happy to see Martial get a run of games on the left, still believe he's one of the better players in the squad and gets unfair treatment for being an introvert in an extrovert's game.

LLV the lad has great talent that's one of the reasons I dislike him so much. He doesn't strive to be as good as he can be. He doesn't make nearly enough of his god given talent. To my mind he doesn't even come close. That's why I have no liking or respect for him as a football player
He also lacks the fundamental understanding of the runs he needs to make and constantly ignores team mates in better positions. He either doesn't make the run he doesn't see it or because he can't be arsed. Either way its a sin. He is one of the highest paid players in the whole league and he is totally and utterly underwhelming.
I think he could well flourish elsewhere and fix luck to him. But he would be 1st out the for for me of all the players.

Agree Ken, good player there somewhere but not clever enough for a top side.

Never keeps a defender on his toes, never runs in behind, not a great header of the ball and just drifts in and out of games and easily just marked out of games until his head drops and you know he's had enough for today. A shame really.

LLV, Have you seen the tireless effort Cavani puts on the field.
He defends from the front, harasses opposition and tries to force mistakes from defenders.
Busts his guts to score goals.

I don't see that kind of passion, work ethic and attitude from Martial.

Sancho on the left Greenwood on the right?

Ken,

Martial = lazy. Some games he gives it his all, other games he doesn't look interested.

TRM, Martial does far more than people suggest, much more of a creator and team player than Rashford for example, and he does track back, when not asked to stay forward (he was obvious Ole was shouting at him to stay forward last season) . As for lack of chances, Cavani was struggling too before Pogba return. Both he and Martial were lucky to get a chance or two in a single game. Pogba's return changed that and Cavani went on a good run, sadly Martial was injured, buy I have no doubt he too would have found form if he'd been able to play. But then again, it's a bit daft comparing the two as they are very different forwards. Martial works better as a wide forward, or probably as the deeper of a 4-4-2 style system, more the Dwight Yorke to Cavani's Andy Cole. Martial isn't the greatest to be sitting up top alone.

I just hate when pundits like Souness and Keane rip on him for being quiet and not outspoken or externally passionate, it just appears ignorant. He definitely comes across as an introvert, he had to have Pogba beside him during a post match interview. People display emotions in different ways, not everyone is an Allan Shearer.

What I said previously is I hope he gets a run on the left, it's where he is best, and I find better than Rashford overall anyway, not that Rashford is a bad player. Greenwood, and Elanga particularly, seem better suited to a number 9 role.

I wonder whether Shappy could pull out the amount of clearences Martial makes from defensive corners? I always found that is a strong part of his game that is overlooked.

Utd have plenty of options on the left. Rash, Martial (zzz), James, Elanga, and of course Sancho. I wonder if they'll keep Elanga around given his preseason form, although as is always the case there's a big difference between a friendly kick about and a Prem game, even one at the tail-end of the season when motivation has dipped which is when he also looked promising. James bless him can be a very useful player - when he started against Leeds last season there were groans aplenty but he destroyed them and was pivotal to that result. But looks like one too many LW in there for my liking. James or Martial out seem the best outcomes and I get the feeling Martial is still seen as the main back-up CF and being the most natural finisher. Still to see it on a consistent basis after all these seasons.

Spenno -you honestly think James is good enough to play in a team in top half of PL?

He's not good enough for a CL team - but I think a fair few sides in the top half of the table outside of those teams would be interested? He's not a bad player by any stretch, but has maybe hit a wall here. He is very young, and has just represented his country at the Euros. But I think a Leeds / Everton / West Ham type might do well for him? Just because they aren't bidding doesn't mean they're not interested. There is so much £ and red tape stuff in the background we never see.

I like James. He is a bit one dimensional. He will do well for a better coach who will play too his strengths.

Haha blaming James not being good enough on Ole has to be the best one yet. Ole might not be the best but he’s also not a miracle worker.
