Apparently Di Maria is on his way to Manchester United for somewhere around €70 million. I've heard he'll wear the number 7 shirt too. Top class signing imo.

Hey Ed, just wondering is/was Daley Blind an actual target or was it a case of 'Van Gaal is the new Man United so let's link every Dutch player to them'?
In my opinion, he would be a very good purchase as, with Evra leaving he'd provide good cover for Luke Shaw as well as playing in midfield alongside Herrea and, hopefully Vidal, in a midfield 3 which some people seem to be suggesting that is the type of formation Van Gaal will implement.

He also more than likely wouldn't cost as much as Ricardo Rodriguez who is being linked with Man United at the moment.

{Ed002's Note - A year or two back Liverpool took a look at Daley Blind but did not follow up. There was interest from Hannover 96 in January and Hamburg both in January and again recently. Chelsea spoke with Ajax about the player as an option for their left back problem and his agent would like to talk to Manchester United - but they have not made any approach yet - although they most probably will.}

Have Manchester United any interest in Xerdan Shaqiri at the moment? From the rumours linking him to Liverpool, he would cost 15 million which would be a brilliant deal for him. He can play on the left, right or down the middle and would be a vast improvement on Young, Nani, Welbeck and Valencia.

Also, Manchester United should definitely make a bid for Arturo Vidal. If there's a chance to sign him, even for around 50 million, we should be jumping at the chance to sign him. He's arguably the best midfielder in the world at the moment, strengthening the defence as well as adding an attacking threat. And if a player like David Luiz is allegedly going for 50 million, then signing Vidal for that much would be great business.

{Ed002's Note - Shaqiri is one of the players Bayern are very keen to sell. Liverpool, Sevilla and Fiorentina have a declared interest with Napoli and Juventus having made tentative enquiries. Bayern are taking an interest in Pogba and were looking to include Shaqiri in a deal - but Shaqiri apparently does not want to go Italy and Pogba is settled, at least for a week or two. Any real interest from Juventus has gone. That leaves Liverpool and Sevilla, and perhaps there will be interest from Valencia if they fail to get a target they are working on.}

1.) Pogba is settled for a week or 2 sums that up nicely. Ed do you see Valencia now as another contender for the big purchases such as city, psg, Monaco etc?

{Ed002's Note - Valencia has some fairly hefty targets.}

2.) 07 Jun 2014 17:51:02
Ed002, do you think Valencia will take another look at Hernandez or is he Inter bound? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - One of my wives tells me today that, amongst other things, Valencia will look to buy Jackson Martinez and will try to get Hernandez.}

3.) 08 Jun 2014 10:29:21
Ed002, thanks for the reply. If I am not mistaken haven't MU agreed a fee with Valencia before, but Hernandez rejected the move? He also rejected them to sign for us didn't he? I wonder if he will finally end up in Valencia.

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in taking him on loan and buying him from clubs - Valencia's priority is sorting out another transfer first but they remain interested.}

Have I been banned from posting on the banter page? Last 5/6 posts I've submitted haven't shown up.

Has Januzaj played any game in pre-season so far? Haven't noticed him being mentioned much recently.

nil satis nisi optimum

1.) He was given time off after the World Cup

2.) Surely he'd be back by now?

3.) Nil Satis, Januzai and fellaini and Van Persie back. all started training back at home. too soon for the tour. possibly to soon for Valencia.

Hey ed, do you know if for midfield its one of William Carvalho and Kevin Strootman or both? Also, would the two of them work well as a midfield pairing?

nil satis nisi optimum

{Ed004's Note - I don't even tho if we are after one of them let alone both. They would work together tho}

With Vidic confirming he is leaving in the summer, I was just wondering can anyone think of anyone who would be a like-for-like replacement?

nil satis nisi optimum

1.) Benatia or Schar from Basel are both a good shout. Both better with the ball than Vidic and both tough as nails.

2.) Like for like? Has to be Kyriakos Papadopoulos from Schalke. Just as scary, just as intimidating, and just as injury prone

Did he not say he'd prefer Manchester United over Real Madrid? Would that not point to him having a preference to playing in England over Spain?

I think he would be a pointless signing. Rather let Wilson have more game time than pushing him further down the pecking order.

He has already been signed by Juventus and has been loaned back to Sassuolo for the rest of the season.

I heard it was £250k week.

{Ed002's Note - The negotiations were around providing the player with a net wage at what was being asked.}

I've heard that Man United have already agreed personal terms with Vidal and just need to agree on a transfer fee with Juventus. Not sure how true this is, but I heard it from someone who was correct about Di Maria.

Just going tto put it out ther, but Medhi Benatia wears number 17 and Mats Hummels wears number 15.
Just because Rojo has been given the number 5 doesn't mean he's the last defender Man United will sign this window. It was the number he wore at Sporting Lisbon and it was free at Man United so he probably requested it.
