Ed002 if you are about and have time could you tell us which Midfielders we have interest in and your best estimate of how many we would wish to sign.

{Ed002's Note - Carvalho remains a midfield target although the club would ideally like Vidal. Gundogan, if available, might be seen as too much of a risk. There is interest in Kroos but Bayern Munich would like a new deal and Barcelona are also showing interest.}

Thank you very much.

Agree0 Disagree0

Right now I don't think any of them are odds on, Carvalho is too much, Gundogan is a risk, Kroos will probably stay and Vidal won't leave Juve I don't think.

I think out of all of them Gundogan is the likely option if we are willing to take the risk.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Granit Xhaka is maybe an option he can play a bit and is very good defender Moyes has been known to look at him in the past and was at the game against Bayern, he and Fellaini could protect the back and let are forward line do there work we maybe need a creative midfielder like a Modric but that may come from within like Powell or as my money is on young Pearson to make the step up and be a great little playmaker for us we do need a Scholes type player and ever time I have watched him he has reminded me of him one thing is for sure we are in for a busy summer

Ed002, do you think it is possible that Gundogan ends up staying at Dortmund due to his fitness issues, meaning somebody like Reus or Hummels could be allowed to leave?

Also, if you have the time, would love to see a list of targets like you did the last time.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - It looked like Gundogan would be sold last summer and there was interest from Rubin Kazan and Manchester City. However, with Goetze going a season before expected, Dortmund were always going to look to keep the player and are looking to negotiate a new deal with him. Both Barcelona and Arsenal spoke with his agent but made no approach to Dortmund. Enquiries to his club have been made by Chelsea and Real Madrid, and Real Madrid until recently seemed his likely destination - but given his injury issues they are now looking elsewhere. Chelsea has also no interest in pursuing the player. It had been suggested that Manchester United would try and strike a deal for the player last summer that is not activated until this coming summer - but that always seemed unlikely to me. There is still interest from Manchester United but I suspect that a suggested move to Bayern Munich will not happen.

Hummels will likely be leaving in the summer.

It is no secret that Inter want Kagawa, that Evra will be leaving, that Ferdinand's time may be up, that Vidic will leave and that Spurs, Inter, Roma and Valencia will be interested in Hernandez if he becomes available. Rafael may well also leave with the club looking at Santiago Arias and Seamus Coleman. Mangala and either Ginter or Hinteregger would be the ideal centre backs. Carvalho remains a midfield target although the club would ideally like Vidal. Gundogan, if available, might be seen as too much of a risk. There is interest in Kroos but Bayern Munich would like a new deal and Barcelona are also showing interest. Shaw is of interest but the price being asked might well make the club to look at other options such as Valencia's Bernat.}

Thanks ed, that has answered a lot of questions. I thought Garay would remain the main centre back target, interesting to see that Ginter, Hinteregger and Mangala are the ones we have most interest in. I am also delighted to see that Bernat is next on the list behind Shaw as to me he is the next Jordi Alba.

Still very worried about midfield. I think Carvalho is most likely, there's no chance of Vidal and we may back of Gundogan due to this back problem as Madrid are doing. The two I have most confidence in is Carvalho and Kroos - anyone else with an outside chance? And also what about up front / wings?

Thanks again ed!

{Ed002's Note -I am not aware of any forwards being looked at and you will need to wait a while longer about wingers.}

That's fantastic and thanks for the update. As always very insightful and helps shed a little light from all the rumours going about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Okay thanks ed. Just one last question if you don't mind - is Garay off the table or very much a back up option if we can't get one of the other 3?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The opportunity to buy Garay has been there and nothing has happened.}

To follow up, Edd, are Barca still the favourites to sign Hummels over us say?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about.}

Thanks Ed002.

Surprised to see that our top center backs are all young. I would have expected someone experienced like Garay, Benatia, Astori to be the top target.

The other targets aren't really surprising.

Do you think we want to sign 2 central midfielders in the summer or will it be just the 1?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

Thanks for the much needed update Ed, MU are certainly working hard behind the scenes which is a good sign. Do you have any wildcard central midfielders that MU could look to? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Not right now Syd.}

Hi Eds

A few papers reporting we have begun proceedings with Sporting Lisbon over Carvalho. Any truth to it?

Many thanks

Believable10 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - I understand that Manchester United has asked again about the price of the player.}

Any Ed got more info about the rumours of Kurzawa and club scouts watching him in Monaco?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Monaco's Layvin Kurzawa is of interest to Chelsea as an alternative to Luke Shaw and Ricardo Rodriguez. Manchester United has not shown any interest as far as I know.}
