So Chelsea have apparently made a last ditch attempt to sign Shaw. If this one falls through I think there will be some major problems. Perhaps even a Ed Woodward sacking.

Ed do you think we will sign shaw? I know you said there is still some negotiating left, imo we must get shaw.

The length of time that our deals seem to take worries me. This Shaw deal must have started being spoken about 2 months ago. Can't see it being announced anytime soon - hoping Chelsea are still in talks with Filipe Luis though. If that has turned sour then they will step in and take him from us.

Thanks Ed, so can we presume Chelsea may now be willing to pay what Southampton want for Shaw?

Thanks Ed, so if Chelsea won't pay the asking price and southampton don't want to reduce the asking price, what were they discussing, if you don't mind me asking?

It's been in the press about Chelsea-Shaw for ages so if anything we are the newcomers to this little party.

Are we being used yet again as a weapon to make other clubs seize the day. "If you don't sign this contract, or make an adequate bid then Utd will get him", agents are using this more and more I feel.

We may well be being used by Shaw; but I think the board like to be linked with these names also. It helps sell the brand.
At times I do wonder if our 'transfer strategy' is as much about being linked with whoever is the flavour of the month and question whether we have a real intention to sign them.

I agree ed, but I'm just reading between the lines, as Ed02 said, they had a discussion but no bid, well they now have 50 million from Luiz deal so would be able to pay the money for shaw, so perhaps Southampton informed them a deal has been agreed? Just a guess

I've made it clear that this summer in hoping for an experienced CB, a young full back, two midfield signings one with experience and the other a lot of potential and a top winger. Tho if money was an issue I'd forget top winger for a season. Ideally Hummels/Garay, Shaw, Carvalho, Fabregas and not sure of winger. Any of Sanchez, Di Maria, Reus, Griezmann. Haven't seen much of depay}

Ed004, there are rumours suggesting a deal could be announced tomorrow with MU, but we've heard rumours like this before.

Personally I think he's stalled for time waiting for his preferred team to come in. Basically doing a thiago.

Mystery, personally I think MU are dragging their feet too much, penny pinching. With Evra signing a new deal I suspect Chelsea want to know what the situation is. I think they may ask him to stay at Southampton for one more season and they will look to sign him next summer. It could be the kick up the arse we needed to get the deal done. Like I said if this one goes pear-shaped the fans will go mental and it could lead to Ed Woodward getting sacked.

I love all this "they've got 50mill" nonsense. Are you all high!? Do really think that clubs sign off huge sums of money like that? Jesus.

If they get bid accepted and so do we and the same wages are offered shaw will join chelsea because it his boyhood club
