Hi Giggs. Liverpool fan here and what Ed001 said was correct. We had three first-choice CBs (Matip, Gomez, and Van Dijk) that season and all three were out injured for the duration of the season. We then played our midfielders (Fabinho, Hendo, and Gini) in CB for a while and that was when we struggled. When Hendo and Fabinho got injured, we went out and got Davies and Kabak in the Jan window. Davies and Kabak then got injured so we were forced to play Phillips and Williams in CB. That, coupled with the return from injury of both Hendo and Fabinho, led to us going on an unbeaten run and ultimately finishing third that season.

You were partially right though when you said that we got a few players back but it was our midfield players, not our CBs that returned from injury. And that winner from Allison helped a lot as well.

Training not being intense enough is the reason why there are so many muscular injuries happening. Personally, I think that your players came into the season a bit undercooked and that you messed up the pre-season by going on tour too early. We made the same mistake last year and loads of our players were injured as well. The medical department definitely plays a part in rushing back players too quickly but for injury prevention, the fitness department needs a look as well.

Why is there a celebration police all of a sudden? A win over bitter rivals should always be celebrated and gloating comes with it. Hell, we gloated and made fun of you guys for the 5-0 and 7-0 wins even until today. As long as it doesn't turn hostile or nasty, there's nothing wrong with gloating. You have your day in the sun after our loss so gloating rights go to you for now. But we'd definitely want it back on 7 April :)

This thread just takes the cake and shows a lack of understanding to the amount of work that Liverpool (and Klopp) put in to make the team into what it is today. It was not an overnight process and required support and vision from the people above. We have revamped Anfield, built a new state of the art training facility where the youth team and the first team trains at, and have supported the manager through whatever process he saw fit. Everyone involved was working towards a common goal and had a shared vision.

The people at your club feels like they are either protecting or furthering their own interest rather than that of the club. It just feels like multiple people pulling in different directions instead of everyone working towards a common vision of where the club should be at. It boggles my mind that Martial, a player bought by LVG, is still somehow at the club despite all managers after deeming him surplus to requirements. Last summer, we saw the same thing happening to Maguire and Mctominay as well. Players that the manager wants rid of but is unable. Compare this to Klopp who had the support of the entire club to tear the whole team apart and rebuild it as he saw fit.

I'm not saying that EtH is a good manager nor that he should stay. But the culture around your club now is toxic to say the least and if that is not changed, no manager that comes in would be able to succeed.

Liverpool fan here and just wanted to jump in because there was a mention on Klopp. What DodgyBanter said is right. Klopp has been with us for 8 years. All the current players are his and the youth team is coached with his ethos and style of play. The only player left from the Rodgers' era now is Gomez and even then, he himself was still relatively new when Klopp first came in.

I would also like to add that Klopp had the ability to get rid of the players that did not fit his playstyle. In the first two years of his tenure, Klopp had already sold Benteke, Balotelli, Skrtel, Ibe, Lucas, Sakho, and Allen among all the other fringe players. So, Klopp already was able to form his own team in that time. Compare this to the players ETH who still has to deal with players LvG bought that is still at the club, much less those from Mourinho and Ole.

It remains to be seen if ETH is the man to lead you guys forward, but context is important and the hand he has been dealt with is atrocious.

LFIP, are you Harry from the Liverpool page? because the misinformation you spouted is very reminiscent of his. And your love-in with Kovacic, who has done absolutely nothing this season with City, is like his as well.

Kompany left City in 2019, Aguero in 2021. A simple Google search would have given you that answer. And last I checked, 2019 and 2021 aren't 10 years ago. They make plenty of mistakes in transfers but it's easy for them to cover up since they have the money to just go out and buy a new replacement player each window.
