Although I was not impressed by either Arsenal or Liverpool this weekend - I was left underwhelmed with our display. As many people have mentioned - we lack the attacking verve of old, too many sideways passes.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously you are not a fan of the team or formation being player - and we recognise that and want to give you a place to put that right. Somewhere to share your vision of how the team should like up and who should be in it.

To that end, I can announce that later this afternoon will see the launch of a new page for Teams and Formations (where the old Teams page was). You can discuss, diamonds, triangles, icosaheda and drink virtual coffee and eat virtual biscuits (virtual sugar-free juice and virtual rusks for the early evening crowd).

I am going to provide a couple of treats to launch this all off. You will be provided with background information as to how thought control has led you to speak in series of numbers that add up to 10 (I do appreciate many modern fans struggle with this concept). Then tomorrow I will explain the views of two highly respected folk about formations and associated tactics - and I might even share my views on the benefits of asymmetrical formations.

But we will open in about half an hour with a brief item covering Subbuteo and the evolution of the football fan's hand.}

Ed, Will you provide copies of Inverting the Pyramid?

Actually a very good book on tactics.

{Ed002's Note - Tactics are for wimps.}

Does anyone fancy Newcastle to do the business against Arsenal today? After the performance against us it must have given them confidence! 1-0 Newcastle!
As for Utd tomorrow I think we will go and get a result. I know Brugge played into our hands a little as they had to come out and attack after the first goal, but the swans aren't known for sitting back! I'm going for 2-0 with Rooney back amongst the goals!!

No, but I fancy Palace to get a result vs Chelsea

What could happen is Newcastle concede an early goal like they did against us(disallowed), and get pummeled. And then a micro-meltdownâ„¢ here about how we couldn't score against them.

No. The barcodes raised their game as they usually do at old Trafford. I fancy them to get a humping.

I've been watching Utd for 30 odd years. SAF was undoubtedly the best manager in football period. The swashbuckling style, never say die, attack attack attack football, was fantastic to watch and any team that we played were almost 1-0 down before kick off.
We are now in a very different era, other teams are now stronger and we have a new manager, that i believe in, but sometimes this season its been hard to watch. I do believe we can make the top 4 this season and get back into Europe. 1 defeat in 20 isn't a bad return. We certainly need to find our attacking groove with some decisive games against Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool, City and Chelsea coming up, we are at home against 3 them and, and should do the business! We have big game players that usually perform for the team in big games. Away at City and Chelsea again, big games - i just hope our "superstars" turn up and play the Utd way. LVG needs to take the shackles off and let us play our football!!

That is naive view on what manager would want to come across to us. You guys seem to underestimate the size of this club and its ability to move the needle. REmember all the bs being posted last year about people would not join because we were going to miss on CL football, That turned out to be total red herring and this one is the same.

On you other point giving someone who is not going to succeed another 150 million to put us in even a bigger hole is a worst mistake than making a a change. Happens all the time in business and this is no different.

Nach73 - calm down mate - we - if the press are correct - were in the driving seat for Pedro - and in some reports I've read, we pulled out of the deal. And off he trots to Chelski, who in my humble opinion are welcome to him. Yes he's quick, yes he's won it all, in 2 VERY good teams. Not sure he is much better than what we've got, in areas we have good cover. Mane is at least PL proven, albeit for 1 season, and as Ed001 has said, Southampton really can't afford to lose him, so it makes no difference what amount of money is talked about.

Papers don't sign or negotiate for players, clubs do and we've done good business so far in this window. Trust in LVG, trust in the club, whether we sign anyone else or not, we will be there or thereabouts come May.

Gotta say as much as I'd love to Vidal in a Utd shirt - won't believe it until I see him tearing up and down the pitch on a Saturday!
