I've been putting off posting for a while because I've been trying my best to be patient with what is currently occuring at old trafford but my patience has worn thin.
I have nothing against david moyes, he's a nice guy but to put it simply he doesn't have the bottle for the job. He just doesn't have that drive and mentality needed for a big job. Taking over from sir alex was always going to be the hardest job in football and unfortunately dave is out of his depth.
The players aren't completely blameless in all this because at the end of the day they've all let the club down this season. Whether you trust a manager or not does not affect basic things like passing /shooting accuracy and ball control.
I don't want to see our club turn into one of those clubs that sacks managers every 5 minutes but its glaringly obvious that giving him a transfer chest this summer will be a bad idea. We could go out and get gundogan, kroos, shaw, mangala and carvalho and we would still be lifeless next season. Unfortunately moyes is a modern day sexton. wrong place, wrong time, wrong club, wrong decision.

1.) A lot of long time and regular posters on here have gone from "give Moyes time" to "Moyes has to go ". All of them, without exception, have all posted how seriously lacking we are in some areas. All of them have argued Moyes should not be judged until he has brought in the players he wants this summer. I'll stick to my original judgement (though I think Moyes has made some big mistakes) if we are not in or very close to top 4 by the end of November he should go.

The team has not changed, apart from the addition of Mata, there are still glaring deficiencies in the team. None of the older players have suddenly got younger. None of our midfield have suddenly increased in pace. Recent games, outwith Liverpool, have shown an improvement in both effort and team spirit.

Now the good news the players we are linked with, the players ED002 says we have interest in and most of the players you list would improve any side. So whomever is manager in January 2015 should have a much improved squad.

2.) Grund agree with your comments.

I am not convinced about Moyes but am not saying he should be sacked. He has to be given a chance to sign players in the summer and then put together his own team and be judged properly.

Does no one think that Moyes will not learn from the experience of this season. The Glazers will be watching with interest and discussions will be had with Sir Bobby and SAF about what is going on.

SAF only kept his job because Sir Bobby backed him and told Martin Edwards that he can't sack him back in 1990. Yes lightning may not strike twice and perhaps Moyes is a sentimental appointment but he needs a bit more time before we can just say get rid.

Apart from Klopp there is no one else that fits the profile for me of the type of manager that we would need or want?

The Manchester United manager has to get the balance right of buying in top quality players and developing our own with a good youth policy. So in order to preserve this we have to get the right manager and give him time. Otherwise let's just become a City, Chelsea, or Real Madrid.

Football has moved on a lot in recent times but do we have to abandon our tradition of home grown talent? that's one of my big loves about Utd.

3.) Simeone must surely be of interest given his tackle em til they bleed approach? It's topping La Liga and sure it would go down a storm in the Prem.

4.) Hoggy, no he doesn't. What confidence do you have he will buy the right players that will gel as a team?

5.) My thoughts on this "give him the cash and then until November or Christmas". So, you would let him spend all our reserves in summer, not knowing how wise he would be having wasted money on Fellaini. Then there is not the level of improvement we expected and they sack him at Christmas. We have spent the cash, have to look mid season for a new manager which means we are unlikely to get a top one. Even then there will then be some still saying give him more time. Therefore we would have an interim to the end of the season and another season would be a write off. Another season where we fall further behind the top clubs and the step up even bigger.
Right now we are still seen as a top club and if we went after a top manager this summer we would still be able to get one. A real question to the give him more time people, would a top manager fancy the job if the cash has been spent and where we were no longer seen as a top side in another 12 months?

What level of improvement would there have to be to sack him or keep him at Christmas? Now, right now it is very clear but the lines can get fuzzy, we may improve but would we get the level of improvement that matched the investment? How do we judge? Let us not forget we went through this with Atkinson and especially Sexton and 1 year becomes 2 and then 3 all the while our competitors are improving and move further beyond us.
Take sentiment out of this and he should be sacked immediately. Sentiment is "support your new manager". However, Sentiment does not run major commercial companies and nor should it. It is decision time and the business could massively suffer if they let sentiment rule key decisions.

In my opinion those who say give him until Christmas are actually still in denial, SAF couldn't have got it so wrong and must actually believe Moyes could still be the man for the job despite every signal, every action showing different.

6.) Red Man, I humbly agree with you. Not sure about the Atkinson reference though, his last full year was epic, didn't we win our 1st 10 games? I know we had a dreadful 2nd half of the season and he was subsequently sacked but sometimes it's a game of fine lines.

7.) RED Man

It is not denial or sheep like following of fergie. Every player with knowledge of the game, great united players of the past or pundit I respect disagree with you. They see a lot more wrong with the team than the manager.

You are just sore and can't get over your dislike of the man, which you have never hidden. Until such time when you can open your eyes I think you are the blind one.

Finally, Please stop making silly statements about businesses run by sentiment, blah blah. You obviously don't know much about the glazers.

The last time I analysed your behaviour you were upset and I am trying to be nice DON . :)

8.) AJH
I went to many of the first 10 games in 85.86 and then went to Luton for what was supposed to be the record eleventh win. We missed out and lost out in a one horse race and the Scousers never let us forget that. I also personally saw some of the drinking issues that SAF had to deal with and was disgusted with what I saw. Atkinson won occasional cups but never got to grips with the club and nor did he build a culture. It was better than the Sexton years but not good enough and Moyes will be a reprise of the Sexton years.

9.) GCU

There are more issues to deal with than Moyes, but Moyes is the number one issue

The act of telling us to stand behind the new manager was an appeal to our sentiment itself. There is little other reason for standing behind Moyes than sentiment

Ah when you struggle you want to trot out the personal stuff again. You can't analyse someone you don't know, unless you are doing it on an imaginary friend or a mirror.

10.) Don't worry Red Man, you have more people in agreement with you than not. Moyes will get time, but he isn't the right man for the job.

11.) You are my imaginary friend although I suspect very different :)

12.) No personal stuff but just commenting on your usual boogey man stuff.

The roof is on fire and we are all going to die and doomed might work with the kids but some of us who have little bit more experience are not that gullible LOL.

I agree, I can't analyse someone without knowing them but have a pretty good idea what you are about :) Poison Chalice anyone LOL

On serious note, have you ever considered a career in politics?

13.) Thanks Sydney
We have not always agreed over the last few years but it has always been proper adult banter without resorting to the juvenile as some do. We Agree on this subject Moyes is totally the wrong man
