Avid reader but infrequent poster.

There's obviously issues at our club. Question is what is the solution?

Is it new management? Or a new ethos? Interested to know the opinions!

Mugaldinho.

{Ed002's Note - End of next season there will be a new manager.}

It depends how you look at it I suppose Mugaldinho. For me 90 percent of the time the management tend to bring their own ethos to club so in my view they are one in the same. I see Ed002 has said that Louis will see out his contract but I for one believe he will leave a year short of his contracts duration.

New manager it has to be. I also don't think LVG will be here next season. I will like to draw your attention to what happened to Mark Hughes at City just before he got sacked. It was a similar situation there. Too many draws as a result of boring football after a huge amount had been invested in building the team.
Unless something drastically changes, LVG won't see out his contract here IMHO.

Thus morning several papers report United will not go after Guardiola but will stick with LVG until he hands over to Giggs. If the club do that we are in for a very difficult period especially as it will coincide with the rallying of Liverpool under Klopp and City appointing a great manager with money. If Guardiola is allowed to go to City whilst we retain LVG and appoint Giggs in 18 months i believe the club would be making a massive mistake and that decision would indicate we are lurching from one error to another. The club would be handing the initiative to our rivals. The only hope is that behind the scenes the youth system is being revamped to produce great talent.
If the reports are correct and we allow Guardiola to go to City whilst pinning our hopes on Giggs then Lord Woodward is acting like the captain of the Titanic.

{Ed025's Note - surely that wont happen red man, united are desperate for a coach with the experience and pulling power to recruit players that befit a club of united,s stature..

I fervently hope we bring in Guardiola in summer or Ancelotti if Pep has already agreed to go to City. I am worried about the plan at OT and have brought that up a few times. I can only hope the "confidence in LVG and hand on to Giggs" news as put out in today's papers is in fact just rhetoric to retain the managers authority until top four is achieved, whilst they work in the background to attract Guardiola.

{Ed025's Note - i hope so too red man, good No2,s dont always make good first team managers as i have witnessed at everton with colin harvey and alan irvine, both great club men and fine coaches in their own right but the hot seat is a different kettle of fish mate, giggsy would be on a hiding to nothing, and lets be honest its hardly the strongest squad for the expectation that comes with the job..

Can't see how the club will allow him to see his contract out once we are out of Cl and stutter our way to 3rd or 4th with the way we are playing given all the issues other clubs have had or are having. I think 2 years of this is enough and dread to think we have to sit through another season of the philosophy and excuse after excuse. He is blind by thinking we should have won yesterday.

The best chances by a country mile were Westham's 2 one on ones with the goalie to beat and a lot of space to put those balls away against a Martial and fellaini chance that had 3 people on the line even if their goalie missed it. I did not even bother mentioning the couple of time they hit the post.

I am not sure how much influence Sir Alex will have on the next manager but don't rule out Conti.
I believe he was one being looked at before but took the Italian job. If he came in it could mean a few interesting additions from the Italian league.

I worry about SAF's influence at the club however has his influence diminished after the shambles of his hand over? I heard Conti was in the running as well but not sure the Italian league has the stars it used to. I would ask whether Conti is also a risk and the idea of Pep at the Etihad us one that truly concerns me.

Have to agree on number two's. Some of our number two's have had reasonable success as have our old players yet I don't see a United manager amongst them, so why without experience should we believe Giggs is any different? It would be madness, utter madness. Probably the nearest is Mark Hughes but even that is far too big a risk. We have to take account of the opposition activity and plans and if Woodward's answer is Giggs I fear for our future.

The squad lacks star quality in several positions and I don't believe Giggs would be an attraction for the best players to improve on it. I also wonder if LVG was retained whether next summer we would be an attractive proposition. Putting Pep in next summer would be a game changer and surely Woodward can see that. If he can't and let's our rivals improve beyond us then he has to go.

{Ed025's Note - i agree with all that red man..

Fergie was at the game yesterday and surely he must be thinking what is this. I would not be surprised to see a fan revolt and banners starting to show up and boos especially if we are sent packing on tuesday. whether the owners want to or not hard for any manager to stay if the fans start revolting and generally a player revolt is around the corner when that happens.

{Ed025's Note - i hope your not saying united fans are revolting GCU? :)

10.) 06 Dec 2015 11:43:53
Gcu. Agreed on all above apart from we will definitely be out of cl of Tuesday and we will definitely not make top 4 if lvg stays as manager and with Rooney and martial as our strikers.
Martial is very young and needs to settle and allowed to grow up. Rooney is. Rooney.

Thought ed2 also said saint pep wasn't going to city.

First time poster but avid reader for a while, hello to all to start, and a tilt of a hat to the editors for their selfless work towards our passion that is MUFC.

My view - baffled at Mata out wide & Depay through the middle, appears to be forcing a Rooney/Depay link : I'm not " in the know " but my cousin does go to games & watches youth set-up & knows a few staff member at OT. They're of the opinion that this partnership is being forced at present & is counter productive in so much that it'd be more effective with Mata behind & Depay out wide ( how most of us feel )

I do genuinely feel we need a CB as most agree on this site - BUT I can't help but feel the Schmidfielders were signed to give grace to our existing CB's, thus improving defensive & tactical nous.

Now the key area for me is the attacking third - with Rooney as the main man he needs to avoid dropping deep, play as high up as possible to create space & make positions for those behind. My concern?

Spacial intelligence.

Muller has this at a level that's unique HENCE why we've harassed to sign him, but unfortunately it'll pass like the girl at secondary school 5 years older we all craved for.

So what now?

Pedro looks likely; astute signing if it happens, very aware & astute at reading attacking scenarios & has that certain ability to " pop up " at the right time. And let's not forget being Barcelona born & bred, facing tough times as a youth player & forcing himself into the first team shows die hard character & winning mentality - a trait that is invaluable for success. IF we get him it could be a very astute purchase.

Ultimately we've massively strengthened the key problem for the last few years, most fans were begging for Falcao & RVP to be culled & to sign a potential world beater ( Depay )

So let's have some faith & see what happens!

Welcome Mugaldinho! I agree with your point about Rooney, however him being the captain of the club and being the first name on the team sheet, I can see signing a top striker doing more harm than good because LVG will want both playing at the same time, which will make the team unbalanced again.

Pedro will be a quality signing and despite not being a stellar name, he offers the intelligence and experience needed for European football. Massive upgrade over Valencia and will most likely be more effective compared to Mata.

Looking forward to seeing more of your posts.

2.) 14 Aug 2015 09:20:35
if your build up is very slow the defending team get men behind the ball and close all the space in the last third .

so you need your striker to drop deep take the cb with him to make space for a cm to move in to .

city played well at the week end boney average position was deeper than silva using this tactic
