Until yesterday I was finding all these Robben rumours as just the usual attention seeking articles. However, come to think of it, if I was going to be the Manager of Manchester United for 3 years and have '150 million' to spend, then ill make sure I get the players I want for that period of time and would leave it to Giggs to then build his team.

Leaving out kulivert and making Giggs number 2 is a clear indication that SAF and the Glazers want to make Giggs the future of Utd by having him working alongside a coach, who if it goes according to plan, to get back into the CL and having a real go to win the league while he is here.

Just my opinion, but I really wouldn't be suprised if rubben joins, after all, his old and has won almost all in germany. So why not a new challenge and a lucrative deal? Also not to forget, it is Manchester United he will be signing for

1.) I think Robin Van Persie would be superb in this role. He is a worldie, he should fit in seamlessly, should'nt he?

Deeps.

A 3-1 defeat being our 'performance of the season' as stated by some shows how bad we have played over the course of the season. credit to the lads they defending fantastically. However this is our problem as our top performances this season have been defensive and trying to hit them on the break. But, we have been getting better if late, and I have a feeling kagawa/mata will be the names on everyones lips next season ;). let's hope the transfers are right, again like most, Moyes wasnt our first choice and it will come back to haunt us sometime in the future but for now we stand by him and let's hope we can get top 4 next season.

1.) Redster

My position is well known, but Moyes comment after the game where he said about getting back in the CL, "hopefully it will only be one year". He uses the word "hope" all the time and it isn't building confidence when we need a bit more Churchillian spirit when we are down. Leaders inspire and "hopefully" isn't inspiring anyone.
Even you used the word hope, so if our manager only "hopes" we can get back in it where does that leave us?
You say "we" stand by him, well some will, many won't, but what gives anyone confidence that he can do it as he has only managed to get Everton in once plus he just can't seem to win against big teams?

2.) Agree he can't help it, he really does 'hope'we can get back in the champions league, we on the other hand demand champion league football at least but this loser is eroding out expectations daily! cue the spoilt fans bit from the persons who would follow this clown off a cliff!

3.) Perhaps under Moyes we need to change the mantra from 'believe' to 'hope'

4.) What makes football great is the unpredictability of the game. So you can say we demand CL football but if it doesn't happen then it wont. Its abit obvious that moyes is here to stay till atleast next season so shouldn't you be so fickle and start backing the team . Liverpool went through the same transition of different cirmumstances and so are AC Milan, so am sure we can be great again. Also its obvious that Moyes doesn't give the best of post match interviews, however its obvious that if he doesn't make CL then his job would be on the line. Therefore to use the word 'Hope' in the heat of the moment has nothing to do ith what he is realistically aiming for.

5.) Redster

It isn't in the heat of the moment, he uses the word hope all the time. It is a state of mind and it comes over that he isn't convinced himself.

Liverpool took 24 years and still may not have cracked the league, they dealt quickly with Hodgson though.

6.) IMoyes is negative manager and no amount of signings is going to change that.
Team played with spirit yesterday, but his substitutions were wrong again.and why did Rooney stay on when he was clearly not fit.
We seem to be going on about these things all season and yet nothing has changed.
I didn't think Bayern were brilliant in either of the games, and yet, we couldn't bring ourselves to have a go at them. Would it not have made sense to take Rooney/fletcher off and bring Giggs/Hernandez on. He could have played Giggs on the left and allowed welbeck and hernandez to get the goal we needed.
Also, buttner played well against robben in first game, and he knows his game well, so why change back to evra?
I give up!

Robben on the game last night said:

"I didn't like it that people from outside underestimated United. The media were talking about them as though they would be easy to beat. I mean, after all you're playing against United at Old Trafford."

Doesnt matter how bad we have done this season, we are still Manchester United the best club in the world. Transition period was inevitable to come after SAF, so who ever was to replace him would find it incredibly hard.

I think down the line matches last last nights could prove to be a turning point for any manager let alone Moyes. let's not forget we haven't seen any performance since he has been in charge to prove his is the right man for the job. Last nights performance showed the much needed passion and pride missing from a United game. It was against probably the best team in the world right now, however it was a defensive lineup that solely counted on counters.

Pointless to argue a change in managment, however a change in style and players being bought is almost certain.
Lets hope early transfers get the preseason off to a good start.

been a long timer reader of this site, atleast 4 years now.

just want to say that it was a pathetic piece of display tonight. Players like Cleverley, Welbeck, Carrick, Evans, Young and Valencia are no where near good enough to play for United. Evra and Vidic are past their best, and so is Ferdinand. am not basing these opinions on tonights games, but over the season so far. How can players like Carrick and Cleverley compete with (Yaya Toure - Fernandinho), (Oscar - Ramires - Willian) - (Ramsey - Wilshire - Ozil)?

Its pathetic, some of the United players are so overrated but get to because they are British! not saying that Anderson or Nani are good either but their clearly not in the team. Players like Barkley rated at £50 million is a prime example! no wonder they get cocky and end up doing nothing on International stages.

Now, I understand its all we have at the moment, so I better see at least 3 players to come in this January to hopefully save us the embarrassment of finishing behind Everton!

Redster

1.) We are the ones to blame. We always think that we have better players than any other team. A player makes two hood passes and voila, he will be world class.

Whe City bought Fernandinho, people talked too much on how average he was, well, seems that he's better than any Midfielder we have.

2.) Mate you are overreacting. Valencia Evans, Welbeck and Cleverly are decent players and will be here for a few more years.

Are they starting 11 material compared to years past at our club, then I agree probably not as we are have been spoiled with incredible quality through out the team.

I do agree Vidic, Ferdinand and Evra need replacing even though it hurts as I am a big fan of vidic.

3.) I have to say I agree with you there. We simply look like an average team. In particular we lack a leader or two in the team. Nani, Young and Valencia are not good enough. Giggs Evra and Ferdinand are past it. Vidic is good for another season, to pass on his experience.

I can't really see us buying the players we need. If we do buy in the Jan transfer window I hope its the players we have been shouting for. But in all honesty we could do with 5 new additions which are IMO very unlikely

4.) Evans has been a consistent top player for us over the past 18 months yet you say he's 'not united quality' just proves you don't know much about football

5.) I'd rather Evans to Vidic tbh.

Come on guys this is so obvious! Jones will partner the new centre back bought in. Probably Indi or Badstuber, although Hummels will certainly not join for sure.

I can't believe everyone is forgetting Rafael! The passion he has for the game and more importantly United is unreal! remember him standing up against Tevez after he spoke about the great SAF? only downside is keeping fit.

Its not so much about the results we have had (not great tbf) but our performances have been shocking! we lack quality players apart from 1 or 2. We need urgent reinforcements, doesn't have to be a mass overhaul (which it won't be anyways) but some personalities to drive the team forward again. We have lost a big personality in SAF and replaced him with a piece of wood. Therefore, if 2 or 3 players was to come in this January, not only it will improve the squad, but will also give the players some confidence to play.
