We showed fantastic spirit last night, Pep's frustration on the touchline was testament to the way we managed to shut out most of their attacks.

In terms of tactics, I thought Moyes got it pretty much spot on and he deserves the praise he's getting this morning. My only criticism would be that Giggs shouldn't have played - he can still contribute a huge amount when we have the ball, but off the ball he can't put in the same work as the younger players. Against Olympiacos, we saw plenty of the ball and he was exceptional, but against Bayern we all knew we would spend long periods without it. I would rather have seen Fletch in the middle, who is much better off the ball than Giggsy.

Other than that (and Fellaini, who had a pretty torrid night to be honest), Moyes and the team were brilliant. Should give them great hope for next week!

1.) I'm gladly eating a couple of slices of humble pie.A lot of belief, commitment and composure shown by United last night.Really good to see. We're still in with bloody good chance of going through.Buttner played a blinder. In fact the defence put in a performance that I thought they were no longer capable of.
Negatives? Rooney gives the ball away too much and his first touch is very poor, so over rated.Fellaini also gave the ball away too much, at times he looks surprised he is playing in a football match.Still, can't complain really(yes I know I just did!)

I would say his tactics were different in one crucial way - last night, he put a huge focus on pace.

When he's tried to defend and counter this season, we've all been unhappy at how slow the team is in attack, and how the players seem to lack urgency. Last night, it was clear that players like Welbeck and Valencia had been told to run at the Bayern defence as soon as they had the ball, which caused a lot of problems.

I don't believe Moyes is the right man for the job - partly because if he really wanted to counter attack with pace on a regular basis, spending so much on a very slow player like Fellaini (and to a certain extent Mata) wasn't very smart - but it makes you wonder what the result last night would've been if we'd had players like Tevez and Ronaldo back. In that system, those players would've really given Pep a headache.

Had it not been Moyes himself who bought him for such a high fee, I think we would be able to take a loss on him this summer. But I don't think Moyes is in a position to admit he made a mistake with him - if he did, I doubt the Glazers would be too happy letting him spend more of their money.

Long time reader, first time poster.

That description of Welbeck - 'there is a very good player in there trying to get out' - is spot-on, never heard him be so well-described. Bless him, he wants to be a legend but I just don't think he ever will.
