Eds, Is it possible for there to be a committee approved by the leading F. A of different leagues or FIFA that uses algorithms to set a fixed price for football players in the leagues? This would probably include the age, length of contracts etc.

Fantastically naive idea.

It'll never happen but I've suggested a system where a players price is set at the remaining wages left on his contract. So for example if a player is paid 5m a year and has 5 years left on his contract his valve is set at 25m which is what his club obviously value him at as that is what they are paying him. To suggest he is worth more than that is to suggest the club is under paying him in a round about way.

It would certainly give the players more freedom.

{Ed002's Note - It is not what his club value his registration at.}

If we're going to start changing the system, players should really try and force an American-style set up with true free agency. All of the money clubs spend to buy a player, and on agent fees, could be earned by the players. In the states, agents make a percentage of the player's earnings, that's it. Then when Lukaku wants to move, instead of 75mil going to everton and him getting like 10mil a season, he could easily get 20 mil a season or more. Instead, in so many deals the selling club and the agent actually earn more from the transfer than the player earns for a career of actually playing. It also removes any conflict of interest for the agent bc their financial reward is tied directly to how much he earns for his client, not how much he helps the club earn on the sale.

First time poster here, I'm surprised no one mentioned Fernando Torres of Liverpool or do y'all not rats him.

{Ed004's Note - I'm a bit surprised as well. He would be the perfect striker for our current formation and would have been brilliant in an attack consisting of Rooney and Ronaldo alongside him}
