just reading a story which mite help ease all utd fans about thiago barca president and pep guairdola do not speak had a major falling out when he left barca so I can't really seeing barca dealing with him because of this. i'm from the same town in ireland as john o shea and went to school with him and talk often with him and he said he keeps in touch with all his old mates at utd and there is really strong interest in thiago and they are doing everything as moyes said working hard behind the scenes I expect 4 signings thiago baines garay fellini and 2 outs nani and anderson so please be patient there is sill 7 weeks till deadline

fireman10

1.) If Bayern activate the release clause then I can't see that Barca would have any have any say in the matter?

2.) If Bayern have no trouble in activating his release clause then neither should united. If united really do everything they can to sign him and he still signs for Bayern. i'll take it on the chin and won't be inclined to blame anyone. This habit of missing out on our first choices is really annoying. but considering last summer. i'd say it hasn't done much harm yet.

3.) There is no need for Pep to talk to anyone other than the player. Representatives from each club can work all else out. United will probably miss out on a very good player at a very good price. There are still good midfielders to be had and I think we need 2 of them still
Mik

4.) For the first time I have to admit that there has to be something wrong with the men in suits at Man United. Tiago's main issue is playing time and it would be horrible for us to get beaten to him by a team who is loaded with midfielders at the moment when it's obvious he'll get the playing time he wants with us.

Why is it we take so long to close deals and always seem to get beaten at the last minute. If we don't get Tiago who else is out there that will give us that attacking midfield general that we sorely miss.

At 18 million for this kid we should have wrapped up this deal the moment the transfer window was opened.

KB

5.) IMO, eventho they said Thiago is the man they are chasing, there actly are doubts over the statement. If thiago goes Bayern, wht about the new signing Goetze? I think he plays quite a similar role to Thiago. You can't actly bench Bastian Schweiny can't you? Then u have Gustavo, Javi Martinez. Thiago wld defnitely gamble himself shld he join Bayern

Eduardo

6.) The Eds have talked about about buy out clauses many times. As they would say "use the search function"!

Dan

7.) The problem with our team is that we have very few superstars or players that will excite those that want to enhance their careers. Come to Utd Thiago and you can play with Carrick, Nani, Young, Giggs, Cleverley, Anderson and Kagawa in midfield, not quite the same as Ribery, Robben, Scweinsteiger, Martinez, Kroos etc. Yes there is first team football to be had at Utd, but you want to pass the ball and know you are going to get it back not lose it.

The only World Class players we have are has beens I'm afraid and with SAF gone now, most players like Thiago will never have heard of Moyes & Round, so it damages our appeal further. This is why we keep missing out on our main targets year after year.

The one exception to this is RVP, but let's be honest it has only been the past couple of seasons he has reached his full potential as a player. But money talks and with money comes the Superstars of today, teams like PSG, Monaco, Bayern, Madrid, Barcelona, City & Chelsea all throwing a lot of money at superstars and building teams of superstars it is hard for us to compete financially and with co-player appeal.

We are quickly falling into the Arsenal/Spurs/Liverpool league of £10-£15mil players. I'm not too bothered though as I think we are building for the long term with a solid young squad who will reignite that Utd allure in 5 years time. But players like Sanchez, Hazard, Moura, Thiago, Nasri, Sneijder, couldn't possibly be excitied about Utd's midfield as it stands and could be a key reason why we keep missing out.

Sween

8.) Completly agree KB, Losing patience now with the clubs board, We are supposed to be the biggest club in the world let can't sign any transfer targets? We've had weeks to sign Thiago up without interference from Bayern and look what happened!

TomP

9.) Look what happened?

Nothing.

Pep said he wants Thiago, that's all. If the lad has half a brain cell. He'll see that the Bayern midfield is not only as strong as Harva's, but it's younger, so he won't even have a place openig up as older players fade away like at barca.

Utd is the ONLY big team who can give him real guarantees about playing time, and Thiago will know it.

Lets wait and dee before we start the doom and gloom. Personally I think pep's public statement may have been a move of desperation as they can see Thiago coming here.

ronaldo has said he wants to return to premier league hope its to us

fireman10

1.) Where/when has he said this?

2.) Link?

3.) Ronaldo was speaking in Asia at a school on sly spurts news don't think he said he wanted to return but he spoke glowingly about Utd and as an afterthought said how happy he was in spain

Just going by his manner of speech he was more upbeat about Utd, but let's not forget he's talking new contract in RM so in itself means little

4.) As far as I am aware during his visit to Singapore he mentioned the best days of his career were at old trafford and he misses england, also said he is happy in spain.

5.) Have a look at a website he said he is happy in spain but u never know what future holds excatly what he said defore he left united

hi if any of the eds or anyone reading could answer what's up with us signing anyone lvg said he wants to get targets in early well its only 2 weeks and the team are back from pre season i had hoped we would have a few in by now can anyone give any update on any potintal signings or deals that are close we really need to get moving. i know there is 2 months left in the window but it would be great to get our signings in soon have a good pre season and then hit the ground running for start of season.we can't afford a slow start this year city arsenal chelsea are going to spend big and are going to be hard to beat love to see clyne otamendi higuin and maybe strootman/pogba bale if available

fireman10

1.) 18 Jun 2015 16:19:02
I have to be honest, it's coming across like some people think it's as easy as LVG saying I want this player and Ed Woodward approaching specific club and them saying ''yep no probs eddie''. We have to negotiate a fee that the selling club accept and that is if in fact they are prepared to sell, we have to convince said player to come to us through playing opportunities, wages, bonuses etc, we potentially need to wait for the selling club to find a replacement which means them going through the same process as just stated. Bearing in mind a whole more thorough process then my simple breakdown. I think we need to trust there is work going on behind the scenes and we will get a couple of targets, a couple of secondary targets and potentially a couple of players who weren't initially targets but become available.

2.) 18 Jun 2015 16:40:23
See my post yesterday about this, if we had signed Depay yesterday would you have written this post? I don't think so. We have one signing done before the window is even open, I am sure we are looking at other targets, there have been no big moves yet really, liverpool have signed Ings and Milner who were out of contract, Chelsea have signed Falcao on loan and we have signed Depay earlier than planned so he didn't get taken by another club.

Calm down and enjoy the ride, we will have players in soon enough.

3.) 18 Jun 2015 17:21:59
Ports, GDS, stop being so damn sensible. We need to panic right now. We haven't made world class signings and the season kicks off in 2 months, what is LVG playing at? We're all doomed

hi if anyone has been listening to lvg interviews about his plans he keeps saying he needs to asess his squad before he signs anyone surely he knows he needs defenders after letting go of 4 defenders and needs a midfielder a maybe a winger if he adverts bk to 4-3-3 .

in your opinions how many players u think wil come in? I think we need 2 defenders and a midfilder we can wait till january if we need a winger if we go back to 4-3-3 your feedback would be gratefull

fireman10

1.) Hi Fireman,

Not an expert but I will try, Van Gaal is a top man manager hr might upset few people but he will be straight up and say what's need to be said.

Last year Mr Moyes spoke a lot to the media saying we need X amount of players to compete and that really took all the confidence left in the olayers we had at the time. Even though Moyes must've been right but just didn't use the right way of getting his point across.

Van Gaal knows we need players but he won't mention anything to the media just incase the deals fall through and he wil cause discomfort in current players mind.

I believe we will sign players a mf I hope (Vidal) and a cb don't know who.

2.) Van Gaal is very much in the Fergie mold. He isn't going to say the squad is rubbish. Moyes said that we needed 6 new World Class players - this immediately put everyone against him. Van Gaal will know what we need but will still be undecided on one or two - probably Zaha, Nani.

I have no doubts that one way or another we will at least get a new centre back Hummels or Vermaelen as well as another central midfielder who we all hope is Vidal but if not maybe Strootman.

17 Jul 2014 18:29:04
hi if any of the eds round lvg said today that he will take a look at the squad for 3-4 weeks before making a decision on signings is this him playing his cards close to his chest as a blind man can c we need atleast 5 players and if he waits 4 weeks that's the start of season and most of the best players will have been snapped up your response would be grateful thanks for the great work

fireman10

{Ed004's Note - I think he will continue to work on signings. Didn't expect him to come out like Moyes did and say the squad is poor even though it is obvious to see, it really doesn't fill the squad with confidence}

1.) Good answer imo. Signing a midfielder wouldn't be a back track on the answer due to Carrick injury. Likewise a defender due to Rio/Vidic departure.

03 Jun 2014 16:15:29
hi ed if your around what u think of the fabergas situtation I honestly can't see him going to chelsea since he played for arsenal city don't want him do u reckon utd will bid for him or is van gaal looking elsewhere thank u keep up good work

fireman10

1.) That COULD be the only reason why he doesn't go to Chelsea. I imagine that he will want a return to Arsenal but if they aren't throwing their hat into the ring then he may end up at somewhere like City of Chelsea. If he doesn't fit the LVG mold be won't be coming here even though his name is Fabregas.
