Ed, has the club switched its preference to EtH over Poch?

{Ed002's Note - Someone associated with the process thinks MP has a preference for another club. Another thinks en Hag also has a preference for another club.}

to add doesn't look good if neither are really interested in us, just shows how far we have dropped since fergie left.

{Ed002's Note - Coaches will always have preferred choices.}

Perfect. Time to bring back the Neowegian champion.

I think this just highlights the need for the club to act decisively, pick who they want and then get an agreement sorted before other clubs come in and swoop for our preferred choice.

I could easily see a situation where the club's messes around for too long and BOTH EtH and Pochettino end up agreeing to move elsewhere.

Then we end up with our 4th or 5th choice much like how we have handled transfers over the past few years.

We have to appreciate that we are not the top club that everyone wants to move to. Not with players and not with managers. We can't afford to drag people along and mess them about and still expect them to sit there willingly waiting for us to make a decision.

EtH was interviewed on Monday supposedly, how long will he happily sit and wait for a call to say we want him. Surely the longer we take the less he feels valued and a genuine first choice.

If someone else comes in and interviews him and at the end of the interview say they really like his ideas and the job is his if he wants it, what will he say?

A colleague of mine mentioned they think that Poch will end up back a Spurs, are they the club?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Hi Ed. Is it possible both managers are feeling this way because United have failed to be decisive? I imagine Pochettino would want United to just pay PSG and Erik will want United to just offer the job if they want him.

{Ed002's Note - No, they see better options and don't understand the structure at Manchester United.}

Thanks for all insights Ed002.

Do you think United are aware that MP and ETH would prefer another, better structured club? Or are they just assuming their offer will be accepted once they’ve gone through the interview process?

And, if in the near future (hopefully), United offer one of them the job, do you think they’ll accept straight away - or wait for an offer from their preferred club?

As always, any info greatly appreciated!

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement with any new coach at this time. Manchester United will be aware the coaches are under contract and will know of fancies this summer and next that will become available. It is unclear how the new coach will be able to work within the existing structure and with the revised structure including Ragnick. It does not bode well moving forward - so the club could end up without the longer-term solution they need.}

Thanks so much for such a detailed reply to my rather pedantic question - thanks for your patience.

I guess we need to hope that United can convince a talented long term manager that they will support him fully - and in a clearer structure.

Personally, still hope it’s MP and will be really disappointed if we somehow bungle his appointment.

{Ed002's Note - I think club need a long term plan that goes a great deal further than just the coach.}

100% ed, do you think it is something rangnick could begin to implement whilst coaching the team?

Do you think we could convince one of the options to join us whilst the issues are addressed? (of course that's supposing the club have the intention to address them or even be aware of what theh are)

{Ed002's Note - I would expect one to likely join.}

Ed002,

The club appears to be focused on short term solutions. Are they going round in circles over and over again.

I’m guessing what Ed002 is alluding to is the very confusing structure that currently exists: no real clear chain of hierarchy (Would you be working with - or for - Murtough, Fletcher or Rangnik - thus who do you go to when you need something (and will it all be over ruled by micro management of the Glazers anyway)

Hope, as Ed says, they can create a much clearer, more professional/ efficient structure soon as, first team aside, we’ve got amazing youngsters coming through and don’t want to blow their chances because of a cranking, collapsing machine.

26 Mar 2022 12:10:41
Ed if possible ( I know not an easy question…) could you give us an insight into the proper structure of a top class club and what it should look like?

{Ed002's Note - It varies club by club from very simple structures (like Spurs) to more complex structures (like Manchester City) - to the mess that is the structure at both Arsenal and Manchester United.}

15.) 26 Mar 2022
26 Mar 2022 18:54:00
Hi Ed, do you think United are still wanting permission from PSG to interview Pochettino? I know the media is the media but they said he was waiting for Arnold to set something up.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect their adviser has told them to hang on after the difficulties this seasn in Paris. PSG would give permission rather than pay him off.}

16.) 26 Mar 2022
26 Mar 2022 19:41:16
Telling ya, United will end up with Potter.

17.) 26 Mar 2022
26 Mar 2022 21:05:35
I think we will get ten hag, poch will end up at madrid and zidane will take over at psg.

What you think ed?

I think the advisor may be right on poch he would be moving and encounter similar issues but even worse and i'm not sure it would go well for him or us.

{Ed002's Note - He would not be first choice for Real Madrid but it is possible.}

18.) 26 Mar 2022
26 Mar 2022 22:21:19
How is the structure of our club so obviously a huge mess to every single person but those that are in charge of the club?

{Ed002's Note - Two boards, owners with alternate interest, folks with no clear responsibilities. It has needed gutting for some years.}

19.) 26 Mar 2022

It’s crazy Ed - truly crazy.

20.) 27 Mar 2022

I have often thought that a Behind the Scenes show at United would make a great sitcom, a bit like Hi-De-Hi.

21.) 27 Mar 2022
26 Mar 2022 21:20:38
Cheers ed i think the fits would be better i think appointing ten hag would force change with man utd to match the needs of the team the club and the manager. I think poch and zidane fit real and psg well though leonardo may have to leave psg for their own change/ fresh start.

22.) 27 Mar 2022
26 Mar 2022 23:23:37
So our advisor is saying no Poch because he’s struggled (even though he will win the league and won a French cup already) at a club where Carlo, Emery and Tuchel all failed as well? Seems like some personal bias involved from said advisor.

23.) 27 Mar 2022
27 Mar 2022 18:46:44
Chris perhaps said advisor knows more about football than us and is better suited to judge the capabilities of a manger than us.

24.) 27 Mar 2022
27 Mar 2022 19:49:47
If said advisor is a football man then I concede. If it’s another Jp Morgan banker who watches on the Telly then I’ll keep fighting?.

25.) 27 Mar 2022
27 Mar 2022 17:08:29
Ed how do you think it can be changed? Is it something someone like Rangnick would be able to help, or is it something that has to come from the owners down? Very interesting to read your insight on this.

{Ed002's Note - It is unrealted to the owners - the club needs a strategy.}

26.) 27 Mar 2022
27 Mar 2022 20:37:54
We can agree there Chris ???.
