If yesterday didn't hurt you, then you have accepted mediocrity.

No i am not talking about the pathetic performance against WHU, i am talking about the trophy lifting and the celebrations down the road at Anfield.

That should be the dream and not scraping top 4.

It is the dream mate. but we can’t jump 3 or 4 steps ahead. Make top 4 this season then aim to improve on that next year and try to mount a challenge for the title In 2-3 years. I’d love us to challenge every year but not at the moment with this squad. If we miss out on top 4 then that’s a huge problem and could be a different story with regards to ole etc.

Shan - Liverpool had to wait 30 years for their title and have endured their face share of disappointment and heart ache along the way.

I've been very disappointed by recent performances and I am probably guilty of an over exaggeration to last nights result.

Any progress always seems to be accompanied by a period of regression but in hindsight maybe it was more important to avoid defeat last night and a point means a draw in our last game will now be enough.

I'm always mindful to try and not judge us on a game by game basis but I must admit I can find myself losing patience on occasions.

The season isn't over yet and we can still make top 4 and even win a trophy. Maybe the time for soul searching is at the end of the season when we'll know more about not only the quality but the bottle of this team.

I don't think anyone will be celebrating come Sunday afternoon if we make the top 4 and the general feeling will be one of relief rather than exhilaration! It will mean our often maligned manager will have achieved the bare minimum and may even offer some vindication by backing the likes of Rashford, Martial and Greenwood. Getting top 4 is just a stepping stone to success and then the real hard work begins as expectations raise.

None of us want mediocrity and this team has not been good enough for large parts of the season but there are signs of progress if you want to look hard enough.

Agreed Tim but its a step forward for us and then 2 backwards. We were champs under SAF, then 7th with Moyes. Climbed to 4th with LVG and then rose to second under Jose (and his collection of dead rubber and poor players) and then 6th with half a season of Ole and now this. Jose wasnt backed after finishing second because he achieved the "bare minimum". If we keep accepting bare minimums then we will soon become Arsenal or worse, we might be waiting 30 years like Liverpool. It hurts.

Wasn't really directed at anyone dlib mate, it was just the manifestation of reading the same thing over and over and my own personal opinion that we have done OK this season and have given ourselves a solid platform to build upon.

Its against the grain on here but I like our P. E teacher, I like the fact that young players at the club have no "roadmap" yet we watched an 18 year old make his 50th appearance yesterday and marked it with his 17th goal of the season, I like the fact that Lampard and arteta get plaudits when they are having just as inconsistent season as us.

I don't like the fact that various eds, opposition fans come on here, slag our club to high heaven and our own "fans" glory in joining in and twisting the knife.


I can only imagine the vitriol this post will attract, but i feel better for getting it off my chest so. 🤷‍♂️.

Nobody on here has ever suggested that 4th (although I reckon we will get 3rd) is enough for United. But it is for this season, so try to enjoy it if we actually manage it mate.
