Rumours City are in for Bonucci (at £50M plus) . One of the best in the business. So would you prefer Pogba, or Bonucci and Matuidi? I know it's a CM question, and it's possibly not a real option, but Bonucci would sort the defence and Matuidi may work better with the other players we have. If reports are right, obviously Jose disagrees and I am talking bollocks about the squad balance.

Always build from the back champion winning sides do not concede many goals.

2.) 07 Jul 2016 13:33:48
Neither did Utd last season (concede many goals)

3.) 07 Jul 2016 13:35:00
So Pogba for me.

4.) 07 Jul 2016 13:40:27
Bonucci and Matuidi or Kante instead of Pogba would make more sense. But it's not going to work like that, as the eds often remind us.

Bonucci isn't leaving juve, so I'd rather have Pogba than Matuidi because he is the better player, we'll probably end up selling Pogba to real in a couple of years anyway and recoup most of the money we spend on him.

just listened to talk sports italian correspondent who says bonucci is going nowhere he says he will stay and end his career there and probably end up on the board.

The Rooney thing really kicking off now, with "sources close to" bitching and moaning. Bored with it all now. Is this the intent? And if so, what bigger plans are behind it? Very strange situation. I think it's leading to a swap deal, but I could be off the mark of course. Maybe the club are just showing resolve in the face of bolshy agent / player maneuvering.

Saw a report this morning where Pep really kicked off about personal issues with the Barcelona board and president. I know business is business but it sounded like there is some real personal ill feeling between them. Whether this is enough to affect any potential Thiago deal, let's wait and see.

Kuala

1.) Maybe they told him to do one haha hope so as their insistance if the decide to not sell to pep could strenthen Utds hand who knows.

2.) Jono

Who knows? Most folks presume the release clause is really simple I. e. anyone that pays it gets their man. I haven't seen it (and nor have they). Maybe it's not so simple. Here's hoping.

Leaving aside the more fanciful rumours for the moment, and sticking to a net spend of around £50M in the summer. Evra has come onto his game lately and with Fabiola returning I would make first priority CM. Wanyama is a realistic target, in my opinion better than Strootman with a lot of scope for growth and improvement. He also brings a physicality that we don't have and would be relatively cheap at maybe £12M. I think we would then have enough quality and diversity in CM including some games for the youngsters. Next priority is a winger or flexible forward. Quality over quantity would be my choice here. Rodriguez, Ozil or similar quality.

Kuala

1.) If you think Wanyama is better than Strootman then I would suggest you haven't seen enough of both of them. Wanyama has great potential and could eventually be a better player than Strootman but currently Strootman is a far better player. He reads the game better, and his passing is far superior.

But I do agree that we need to look for quality not quantity. Our squad is very good but we need to improve our first team.

I think with Zaha already signed I would expect us to sign a less direct attacking player, personally i'd like to see us go for Ozil along with Strootman. Then maybe a more experianced defender IF Rio leaves.

2.) I too think Strootman is superior to Wanyama and also Strootman might suit us better

3.) The only thing Wanyama has over Strootman is age and champions league experience. Strootman is a better passer, has a better engine, is more creative, scores just as much, is just as good at tackling and interception, is just as fast, and most importantly can play anywhere in midfield from CDM to number 10. He is also the vice captain of the Netherlands national team.

Let's revisit that statement at the end of the season. KDB was the difference today, he was awesome. Bravo was shocking. It was a nailed on red card and penalty. Otamendi arm could also be argued. In retrospect, Rashford and Martial should have played in place of undercooked Lingard and Miki, who will both be better with game time under less pressure. But, in summary, your statement is provocative and incorrect. City will be there or thereabouts at season end, but so will United.

That post is as mad as a box of frogs.

Yes, LVG was a good manager over the course of his career.

The Rashford comment reminds me of typical armchair critics of Andy Murray, saying he shouldn't be considered a top player. He's second in the world, and on his day can be best.

In the same way, the vast majority of armchair pundits don't have a clue what it takes to succeed in top level sport. Rashford is already competing at the top levels of the game, and I'm sure he will make a good career for himself. Whether that's at Pele, white Pele, Defoe or Macheda level remains to be seen, and depends on application and luck as well as skill.

But the boy is good. Beyond good. Pretending anything else is a bit strange.

Latest is that bid has been raised to 30M, with decision to be made by board at the weekend. Source: Guardian.
