according to my sources, Ed Woodward has called in sick!

Del Boy!

1.) Not to be rude but hasn't he all summer? I heard gladis the tea lady has been signed for £7.50 per hr though.

2.) Rumours have it that Woodward is on holiday today and Barry Chuckle will fill in for him.

3.) Would be difficult to tell which was which

4.) Very funny! Just what I needed on what is likely to be a depressing day.

5.) Almost correct Syd, But the truth is he actually signed both chuckle brothers to replace Cleverley and Carrick, to me to u, to me to u, to me to u, whos that Dutch boy in acres of space, nevermind to me to u!

6.) I heard he's on a plane to Florida to pick up his "spent f#ck all" Glazer bonus!
I've offered my seven year old daughter to stand in for today so expect three or four easy transfers to go through!

7.) He rang hnim sick with ozil-itis ;)

8.) Haha Fabs, that just made my day!

what do people think about the potential of selling the naming rights of old trafford. according to richard keys (yeah I know what he's like) nike would be willing to stump up £500 mil. to me even if it's called the nike old trafford stadium or even just the nike stadium, we would still refer to it as old trafford and we'd get £500 mil for it to hopefully spend on signing some top quality players. or line the glazer's pockets.

Del Boy!

1.) Well bayern muncih have done it and they are supposed to be the commercial model to follow. And yes it would still be referred to as old Trafford by all of us and if they don't want to upset people too much then it should be in the name of the stadium commercially too along with the sponsor.

2.) Old Trafford. Just do it. Sounds like a porn movie but hey atleast attendances would keep on rising. Lol

3.) There has to be a balancing act between maximising your profit and staying true to the values set out by the club.

Our history and tradition are just as important as our trophy cabinet, and that's not just coming from a fan but also from a commercial point of view, lots of teams win titles but what makes a person choose to become a fan of our club also runs a little deeper, people like and associate themselves with our club and a big part of that is our traditions and our values. If we sell off those parts of the club in the name of making a quick buck then we will start down a slippery slope with could lead to us alienating those fans and cost us much more in the long run.

4.) I would be disgusted if that happened. Old Trafford is probably the most famous club football stadium in the world, and is synonymous with United's history and tradition. The club generate plenty of revenue already, so the only reason to do it would be to fill the Glazers pockets even more.
The Bayern Munich situation is different as the Allianz Arena is a new stadium that they share with 1860 Munich. I'm pretty sure that Allianz bought the naming right to the stadium before it was even finished being built.

today would not be a good day for United to announce a new sponsorship deal.
could you imagine the reaction to that if they did.

at the end of last season when we were promised that everything was in place for a major signing, was I the only one who thought it would be an uruguayan u20 right back?

I thought lfc were poor today, nothing special. That's says more to me about the united team though!
Surprised no kagawa and we are suffering for not making any player signings!
Onwards and upwards though, traditionally we don't start well so let's hope we improve!

it seems every bid we put in gets rejected. every headline reads 'United have bid for a player rejected'.
i can only assume Eddy Woodward has a conversation with other clubs along the lines of:
Ed: 'hi how much you want for your player'?
other club: 'we want £20 mil'
Ed: 'will you take £17 mil'?
other club: 'no, go away'!

Del Boy!

1.) The irony of a self-appointed "Del Boy" criticizing a bit of "wheeling and dealing". Quality.

Would like to point out, I'm not defending Woodward here (he's definitely a tw@), just appreciating the irony.

2.) Mon dieu, Mange Tout Rodney!

The Derrick Trotter school of Wheeling and Dealing ;)

3.) I think the trouble is we are starting to reek a bit of desperation, so therefore teams are asking well over what they would normally ask.
I think if we had managed to sign fabregas or thiago it would have put us in a much stronger position to sign other players, as the teams of the players we are interested in, wouldn't be looking at us, as if we are desperate to sign them. That's why Everton want a ridiculous amount for Fellaini and baines IMO.

4.) Haha, that didn't even occur to me when I wrote that!
What a plonker!

5.) This time next year.

6.) He who dares wins boys, he who dares wins.

I don't go along with all this retiring of shirt numbers. it's good to have numbers being worn by players that have a history and a tradition and this shouldbe continued.
it also should go to someone special and inspire players and make them feel special to wear it. someone like Adnan would be deserving of it in my opinion.
