Ed002 or Ed004 if you are available.
Do you see Mata leaving Chelsea this summer?
Also, does anyone else think there is something not quite right about Lewis Hamilton?!
Paul {Ed004's Note - No Mata won't be leaving this summer}

PJ

1.) What do you mean something not quite right with Lewis Hamilton?

Ed002 if you get a free 5 minutes could you update us on the Strootman front, all seems to have gone a bit quiet. Have United seen someone else they might prefer?
Thanks,
Paul {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new really. Interest from Schalke 04 was rebuffed; AC Milan would still like to take the player; but I will stick with the view that he will move to Manchester United.}

ED002 if you are available.
Are you aware of whether or not Barcelona would be prepared to sell Cesc should the right price be offered? It is widely reported the player prefers not to leave but the rumours linking us with him just fail to go away.
Thanks {Ed002's Note - You mean if his release clause was met? I really don't see him moving this summer and I am not aware of interest in him from Manchester United. Alcantara perhaps.}

PJ

1.) Ed002, can you confirm what Cesc's release clause is please? Thanks.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I have zero interest in getting in to the financials Syd - people don't understand any of it at all.}

2.) Okay Ed002, no probs. I thought it may have been as simple as Goetze's clause. Like a one-off amount.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - People don't understand these at all Syd. Somehow they think if it is met the player will move.}

3.) I think most know Cesc would need to agree to the move before anything could happen. Do you think if MU met the release clause he would move to MU? Or is he adamant about staying in Barcelona?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I have given my opinion on many occasions Syd. You really should not get so wrapped up in the "release clauses".}

4.) Fair play Ed, obviously as we hold an interest in Thiago and because he is possibly available, he is more likely. Can I ask what the hold up with this is? Has he not made up his mind yet or is the U21's tournament in the way? Is Barcelona refusing to give up on him? What is the situation with Thiago. Thanks.

Sydney!

5.) There will not be any interest from man unites the players that we are interested in are:
cabaye
lewandowski
theres a touch of ronaldo but I think its a doubt
and lamela

6.) If any offer comes in for cesc he has to be offered back to us (arsenal) plus he's said on numerous occasions he will only play for 2 clubs so doubt he'd join you lot.

Interesting one, Lewandowski has stated that his preferential move is to United in the summer and to be honest I can see this happening. I think with Welbecks ability to play on the right and Rooneys drift towards a midfield role, I can see us picking up a 5th striker this summer. If we then go and get a decent CM and maybe a CB I will be happy.

PJ

PJ

1.) Lewandowski to partner RVP, Roo dropping into attacking midfield, Kagawa moving defence to attack and yes maybe another quality CB. The stuff of dreams. From our mouths to Gods ears eh?

2.) Hernandez will definitely be gone then.

3.) I still don't see this happening, despite how good Lewandowski is. Just too many strikers, and while Rooney and Welbeck can play deeper or wider, it will force them to play outside of their best positions almost all of the time. Lewandowski's arrival would mean no Ronaldo, and probably the move of Chicharito eventually as he will see all of his appearances disappear as he can't go wide like Rooney or Welbeck. Munich are going to have quite the attacking force if/when they sign him!

4.) I disagree KG. Bayern are a good team full of average players in a attacking sense, Ribery is so overrated it makes me laugh, Robben isn't getting any younger, Gomez for me is there best option but can get in the team. You are right if what you are getting at is that Lewandowski is in fact what they need but I still don't see him joining another German side.
Lets wait and see. The only other point I believe you make that has some substance is that Hernandez might be moved out which would anger me as I am his biggest fan.

This is nothing more than a theory/suggestion:

I do not believe Liverpool will sell Suarez now not to Arsenal, RM, not to anyone. I also think that Benzema is probably Arsenals number 1 transfer target now. Looking at the flip side RM have spent near on £80million already this summer and are apparently very close to securing Bale for another £80million. Now I'm not expert on the finances of a football club but I know for a fact that RM just do not have that much money laying around and so they are going to have to generate something for themselves. RM are clearly looking to re-structure their philosophy and focus on youth and so I see the Ronaldo possibility a strong one. I also think that if Arsenal can get a deal for Benzema them maybe RM will show their hand with regards to Rooney. I do not see Rooney in a Chelsea shirt but I can see him playing for another European team. What if United can secure Fellaini and Baines for say £38million, maybe even send Anderson back the other way as part of the deal, sell Rooney to Madrid for roughly the same amount (£38million) and then along with sponsors secure a return for Ronaldo. I believe this would be a suitable and effective solution for all involved. Maybe even loan Buttner to Everton as part of their deal.
Thoughts?

PJ

PJ

1.) Suarez will not be at Liverpool come 3rd September. He will certainly not be at Arsenal.

2.) PJ,

Not 1 decent club outside of England has submitted a bid for Rooney. I believe this has been a setback as united want him out and off the wage bill. in order to finance other deals. I don't think they expected zero interest from abroad. This policy has backfired spectacularly and has been a very unwelcome distraction all summer

3.) PJ real madrid's net send this summer is about 10 million so far and Ronaldo is not on the cards mate.

They will sell Di maria, and one maybe 2 midfielders.

Hardly a believable post, Alcantara is 22,
Barcelona are coming to terms with the concept of selling a good player who they just cannot guarantee first team football. This isn't another Favregas situation is this very different. If Alcantara leaves Barcelona, I doubt he will go back. Not least til he is in his 30s anyway.

What a load off bull. Making all Manchester United fans suffer a the expense of some mindless persons? Eds, for goodness sake, you monitor all the posts before you post them anyway so with all due respect you can't dictate what the world will say and you have to be open for some negative opinions. People like myself post decent, in line rumours from fairly reliable people and these some of the time don't even get posted?! How can you say that fans like myself will suffer because of other people we don't even know?
This is low Eds, really low and a little bit immature. I appreciate the site and the occasional comments you guys make but if you don't enjoy it then don't bother, its that simple. But my advice is don't let the minority get to you, because this stance makes you look weak.
Im not going to sit here and brown nose because its pathetic, and I don't expect for that reason for this post not to make it onto the page either. i'm a big fan, but you need to re-think your approach here, not happy.

Not the smartest reply there PJ. The Eds to a fantastic job running the site and they do it for our enjoyment. What they don't have to accept is abusive replies from dim witted plebs. Which is what the the Eds take issue with, and I back their stance completely.

Unfortunately its always the minority who make the majority suffer.

3.) Oh for god sake pj you sound like a 12 year old, shut up moaning.

4.) Hmmm, not going to be as harsh as this PJ. But get your point.
Are the eds never going to give an opinion again? I think they will. Slightly childish this 'strike'. And stroking egos with all this 'pleeeeease ed, love you, ' blah blah is really cringe worthy.
I too only get half my posts published, and get a little frustrated at some of the drivel that is 'superior' enough for publishing. But hey I am bias towards myself. lol. (I suspect a blank on this. )

5.) PJ - grow up and have some respect. I thought about writing a lengthy response but the simple reply is why come on this site if you're that arsed? I probabably speak for everyone in saying 'jog on you pr*ck'

Adz

6.) The way I see it is that yeah the Eds should be thick skinned enough to take criticism and the odd bit of abuse.

However, this isn't just a one off thing, take a look around other sites, the Arsenal page being an example.

I don't blame the eds for the stance they take what I will say however is that by taking this course of action they are giving the trolls exactly what they want.

I think if they were to say, "yeah, okay mate" it would have a much greater effect than not giving opinions or answering questions.

that said, as much I Value the eds work and opinion I come on here for the banter and rumours, now as long as they're still here I will be too. regardless of whether the Eds decide to comment or not.

Eds,
Good friend of mines Uncle works at Chelsea and he is basically one of the gents that's sits with management during press conferences. He was having a chat with my mate yesterday and he mentioned that Mourinho is struggling to see where Mata fits into his plan for next season. He wants to play Hazard more in the centre and sees Mata as also an opportunity to regain some money from a potential big money signing.
Can you see any truth in this? Would United consider Mata if he became available as an alternative to Thiago should he decide to stay in Spain?
Perhaps a Rooney and Mata swap deal?

Thanks,

Paul {Ed002's Note - Mata is in South America at the moment and Hazard away. Mourinho is not known for scratching out little tactical diagrams during press conferences and blurting out statements about not knowing what to do with Mata and Hazard.}

ED002 or ED004,
Could you please give us a list of who you believe are United's transfer targets this Summer. I appreciate this list might be extensive in terms of players that a being tracked but in that case could you perhaps just list the players who you think we will bid for this Summer. Many thanks again for your time. {Ed004's Note - Garay, Strootman and Di Maria}

Great thread chaps.
I watch a lot of football, I'm talking from the grass roots under 16s I coach now right across Europe and occasionally South America.
Kagawa was my 'choice' signing before last summer and I have a habit of spotting the next signing for United before it happens.
The problem is with Goetze is that we just do not need him. It sounds a bold thing to say but with Rooney still in our ranks and I hope he stays we just do not need a player of Goetzes nature. What United need now is a world class winger and a CDM! Strootman will fill the latter of these requirements but I still cannot work out who will fill the winger slot. Valencia or Nani will leave, possibly both this summer and that creates a bigger void. I think our biggest problem is mis-understanding of our best formation and that is where Rooney is becoming lost. I think Cleverley is potentially world class, I think he would not be out of place in a Barcelona shirt but he too is running the slight risk now of losing position because of our unsettled shape. We have a great squad, arguably the best squad we have had but its time to decide what our best shape is adjust our squad to maximise that.
Summer signings will be:
Lewandowski,
Strootman,
CB,
Winger (Ronaldo should be amazing)

PJ {Ed004's Note - Gotze has played on the right wing for Dortmund at times this season and not looked out of place so you could play him there Kagawa out left and Rooney central but I'm not sure that gets the best out of all players as I don't think Rooney is technically good enough or has the speed to make up for it tbh}

I wonder if they would consider Anderson in a player + cash deal?

PJ

I can confirm Barkley is of massive interest to Man Utd. The only decision is WHEN they will attempt to sign him. I wasn't sure this summer would be the case as I believe there is hope he will begin featuring for Everton more regularly.
If United were to move for him this summer expect an instant loan deal to be arranged.

All I will say is that I have posted regarding these points on several occasions and none of them have been placed in the main thread. I agree with these points 100%.
From what I understood Lewandowski was agreed last summer.
Also expect Anderson to go and probably Strootmn to arrive.
