Just found a piece of paper outside Old Trafford in a bin bag (was looking for dinner) and seen that Jose wrote a note to his dog saying he was close to signing Pogba. Truth lads, 100%.

MPez

1.) 01 Aug 2016 19:59:44
You cannot beat bin food, best food in the world.

2.) 01 Aug 2016 20:40:38
Especially after a few pints.

3.) 02 Aug 2016 08:01:51
Now this is a genuine rumour I was waiting this whole transfer window. I don't believe anyone would disagree with it.

PS- These days at least you find something in the bin. I remember 3-4 years back when Anderson was still around, I always left disappointed.

4.) 04 Aug 2016 23:16:49
Why is it not an Olympic event
"And the Bindipping Gold goes to Mpez"😆😆.

Rumours tonight of De Gea for Benzema, or Benzema for €40m. I'd happily do either of those two deals, would love to see Benzema at the club, and think he'd excel. Great number 9, can poach, head, and more importantly for ourselves, make his own goals.

MPez

{Ed025's Note - im a massive fan of his Mpez..

1.) 04 Jun 2015 23:50:52
This is actually one rumour I fully expect us to complete. Anything under 40 million, in today's world of inflated prices, is a bargain for a guy who is still only 27.

2.) 04 Jun 2015 23:59:15
Benzema or Higuain? Which suits United more do you think?

3.) 05 Jun 2015 00:51:25
Simon 23 is old in football terms mate

4.) 05 Jun 2015 04:27:09
Benzema by far, ODavis. Our team at the minutes problem, is that we cannot create enough chances for our forwards, which IMO is why Falcao had a dreadful season. Higuain is more along the lines of Falcao's style, whilst Benzema has everything.

5.) 05 Jun 2015 06:24:48
Jmb this is a recent trend.
Turn the clock back a few years, 26-27 was the age when players usually started to peak

6.) 05 Jun 2015 08:44:53
Roger Milla anyone? Legend!

7.) 05 Jun 2015 09:30:58
Dip - I was only joking mate. I was just having a wise crack about what someone posted a few days ago.

8.) 05 Jun 2015 10:23:49
He is the definition of being a complete number 9. A potentially awesome signing and would be the best striker in the League over both Aguero and Diego Costa. May also link up well with Di Maria.

9.) 05 Jun 2015 11:15:02
Would love us to sign Benzema but never better than Aguero

10.) 05 Jun 2015 11:25:50
Benzema would be a huge signing. The guy is a tank. Way better than Higuain Fingers crossed

11.) 05 Jun 2015 12:25:38
A fantastic signing IMO. I've said it before either Benzema or Lewandowski would be perfect for us. Both have all the attributes required and can provide something special at any given moment. If we are to lose Big Dave it would be an ideal transfer to receive Big Ben in return lol

12.) 05 Jun 2015 15:13:40
Benzema also fits the model of play at United and the PL. totally agree but wrestling him away will be a tough challenge!!

13.) 09 Jun 2015 19:09:27
I agree Benzema or Lewandowski would both suit us perfectly, and if . However, I do worry that Chelsea will snap up Falcao and he will bag a ton of goals in a team that creates lots of chances. Costa and Falcao are very similar, both have great positioning and finishing, as well great heading abilities, but rely on others to create chances for them, so I reckon Falcao would be incredibly dangerous in that Chelsea team. IF we signed Benzema, I assume that would be the end of the road for Van Persie?

24 Apr 2015 20:48:38
002, do you have any info on the news reported by Sky Sports Germany that Ilkay Gundogan to United has been agreed?

MPez

{Ed002's Note - It hasn't at this time.}

1.) 25 Apr 2015 09:51:24
Fantastic signing if it happens

31 Mar 2015 13:30:38
002, or any of the ed's who may know, bit of a lesser known player, but is there any interest from anywhere in the lad Omar Abdulrahman of Al Ain in UAE? Fella seems to be causing a bit of a stir.

MPez

{Ed002's Note - Not recently. Abdulrahman has been courted by Sporting Lisbon and Manchester City, spending time with both during the summer of 2013, Ajax, Lyon and Hamburg (and probably others) also expressed interest in the player last summer.}

1.) 31 Mar 2015 16:09:50
Is there any expectation that he'll be on the move any time soon?

11 Dec 2014 06:22:02
002, you mentioned the possibility of Bale being moved on (if they can do so), so may I ask where may lie interest in GB? Would a return to the premier league be most likely? Would we be interested? Would we be capable of getting him?

Cheers in advance!

MPez

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in him at the price they would ask.}

I notice on the City page on the post about potential incoming players, there are a few similarities between the two Manchester clubs. Maybe getting Champions League football was even bigger a requirement than we may have even realised. I think it's fair to say there will be a huge outgoing of money from Manchester this summer, and potentially a lot of back and forth for players between United and City.

MPez

1.) 26 May 2017 11:35:00
Yeah says semedo is there first choice also, griezmann possible for city too, Fabinho another looked at by both, a titanic battle ahead.

24 May 2017 12:16:52
Came across this video on the ever famous Youtube, a compilation of chances created by our very own Polly Pogs. Some of the chances that have been fluffed on the end of his passes are verging on criminal. Almost hurts watching some of the misses in games where we dominated the game yet dropped points.

MPez

1.) 24 May 2017 13:28:45
He'd be top assister is Zlatan/ Lingard/ Rash/ Mata/ Rooney knew how to finish.

We need someone who just puts chances away in the summer. Javier Hernandez type.

2.) 24 May 2017 14:18:10
I can't get over the amount of poorly taken chances there are in this video.

3.) 24 May 2017 15:30:51
If we had goal scorer like Kane, with the amount of chances we create we'd of been challenging Chelsea.

Just had a look to see how many LEAGUE goals Kane has scored over the last three seasons; 75 goals in 102 games, fair play to the lad. He's also showing progress over that period
2014-15 = 21 goals
2015-16 = 25 goals
2016-17 = 29 goals.

31 Jul 2016 15:07:43
I must say, I'd be very interested in seeing Zlatan playing just off Rashford. They could rotate between eachother, would be very shrewd and would work well. I think Rashford has to play, simple as that.

MPez

1.) 31 Jul 2016 15:25:09
End of the day Zlatan is going to play, Mhkitaryan is too and so I'd like to think is Martial so it's either Rashford or Rooney and I don't like Marcus odds if that's the case. Always seems to come down too Rooney and is he in the way.

2.) 31 Jul 2016 15:56:02
welsh
so just rooney in the way .
zlatan and miki play no matter what?

in jose we trust.

3.) 31 Jul 2016 15:59:58
we will get plenty of opportunities to see that partnership over the course of the season i excpect us to challenge on all frounts with the exception of last year Jose has always gone and tried to win every compition he is in and with so much firepower we look like we could score record amounts in my opinion the ingredients are there and rashford and Zlatan are two of the biggest parts i'm betting on a record goal haul with zlat rooney micky rashford martial getting 15 plus each.

4.) 31 Jul 2016 16:01:01
welsh
how do you think martial and mik played last night.

5.) 31 Jul 2016 16:14:46
red gate
our options up front look great imo not sure why people are getting there knickers in a twist .
the issue looks to be in cm and cb to me.

6.) 31 Jul 2016 16:23:05
jred how any of the players played last night is irrelevant as long as they do the business when the season kicks of and for all the Rooney hate its a sad shame because he has and still is a great manchester united player history will show that. I am convinced he will play better in this team than any post SAF Jose is the man and i'm glad we have him now because the last 2 managers could not get put of the shadow of SAF but its Jose and Zlatan time add Pogba and micky and Baily we have a fantastic maybe the best team ever on paper if it gels to its potential we will see who has egg on there faces when we win 2 out of 4 competitions and everone plays and contributes to the team something Wayne has always done more than most.

7.) 31 Jul 2016 16:31:47
red
i agree we have the makings of a good team .
i think we have great options up top a people are still moaning.

8.) 31 Jul 2016 16:39:25
I don't hate Rooney at all I'm just saying if Rashford is to play it seems to centre on Rooney playing or not. People are quick to jump to the defence of Rooney even when he isn't getting stick, tbh Rooney isn't that good anymore and is holding United back I've said it for 3 years that's my opinion and I appreciate others but how well or not people played in a friendly is irrelevant the fact is Rooney will be found a place in the team regardless it seems and yes in Jose we trust, hope Jose can get the best from him and also be bold enough to drop him when needed. I find it silly that no matter how badly Rooney plays he's still somehow the best player as is staunchly defended, some need to open their eyes. Martial and Mhkitaryan may have had an average game last night but it's ok if Rooney has several he's still somehow the best, laughable really, I don't take joy from seeing him decline but the club got to move forward and for me that's without Rooney.

9.) 31 Jul 2016 16:51:36
welsh
who said rooney was the best?
rooney plays the 10 role rash for me is at his best at 9.

its sounds like you have made your mind up before the season has even started.

i honestly think jose will pick the best team if rooneys not in it no probs . but people like yourself still won't accept it if jose like every other manager picks rooney .

10.) 31 Jul 2016 17:10:42
No I've made my mind up based on the last few years performances from him, people like myself, oh aye, not allowed an opinion unless it matches your own. Doesn't matter how badly he plays he's still better than we got etc I've read on here several times, I've also said multiple times hope Jose gets the best out of him or will be strong enough to drop him but will support him while he's here, can't be assed with the pro Rooney brigade getting their knickers in a twist every time someone has a opinion on him that's not positive, I'm not one who slags the players in live chat etc but I've also got the best interests of the club at heart and sorry lads time to phase him out for the betterment of united, in my opinion that is!

11.) 31 Jul 2016 17:27:00
welsh
i don't think he will leave this season and i will see how he plays during the season before i make my mind up if he should leave next year .

you have posted the same thing for 3 year . we have other players mufc is bigger than rooney .

12.) 31 Jul 2016 20:17:38
Zlatan, Micky, Martial, Rooney, Rashford.
Any 4 from that 5 starting will mean we will score goals. It's a long season so plenty of opportunities for all.
Also more than ever it is a 14 man game with subs equally as important as starters. let's not forget our super subs in the CL final.

13.) 31 Jul 2016 23:02:16
Yawn. Same thing every year. Yes Rooney has declined but he's still better than most of our options. He was our best no.10 last season, that's not saying much though as the only player to come close was Fellaini. We have a new manager, some new players, and a new system. I'm more than happy to let him have a few games to claim that no.10 role again under another manager. If he doesn't then so be it we have options. If he does then will the slagging stop? Probably not, another current and preemptive apology to the eds for the continuation of the most boring conversation in football history.

15 Jul 2016 16:33:59
001, this may well be a seriously stupid question, but i'll ask anyhow.

I notice on the Liverpool page you mentioned how it is standard for the club who brought a player through their academy to receive 5% of any fee paid.

If we, for instance, paid £100m for Pogba would we receive 5m of our own money. Even writing this i'm thinking how silly this is.

MPez

{Ed001's Note - no mate, his previous club in France (whose name escapes me right now) would be eligible for a cut though.}

1.) 15 Jul 2016 16:59:15
United signed him from Le Harve but he did have another pro club before that.

2.) 15 Jul 2016 17:04:26
@Ed001
Le Havre, if I'm not wrong.

07 Jul 2016 15:46:35
As something different, did we ever find out what our old friend Rainfishtrombone's name meant? Had a search but couldn't see it!

Ed002, I believe it was you that said you knew what it was?

MPez

1.) 07 Jul 2016 16:07:00
No that was I Am Kloot.
👍.

2.) 07 Jul 2016 16:18:41
Wasn't Rainfishtrombone and I AM Kloot the same poster?

And I do remember one of Eds would tell us what I AM Kloot meant.
Infact I was just about to ask the same question!

{Ed007's Note - I am Kloot is (was?) a rock band from Manchester.}

3.) 07 Jul 2016 16:53:33
Didn't they release a new album recently?

4.) 07 Jul 2016 17:07:47
I'm pretty sure it was just a band name, Ed2 teased that there was some deeper meaning and people fell for it.

5.) 07 Jul 2016 16:51:45
How you been Bond, looking forward to the new Scottish season?

{Ed007's Note - I am mate, I wasn't exactly overjoyed with Rodgers appointment although I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but it will be on the CL that he'll be judged. Dembele will be a great signing for us and we done really well to get him in and I'm looking forward to seeing him and Patrick Roberts linking up with Griffiths this season.}

6.) 07 Jul 2016 19:19:23
Swordfishtrumbone is an album by a guy brought up on bourbon and cigarettes, the wonderful Tom Waits.

7.) 07 Jul 2016 18:05:37
Bond that is a very young but very talented pair of players. If they cope with the physical demands in Scotland they have the potential to ruin riot up there.
Rodgers is a very good coach. He is not a great manger but he will sorry he should have learnt a lot from his Liverpool experience. He will be a success up there imo and will do better in the cl maybe not this year but next😀
His downfall is his ability to put his foot in his mouth too often.

{Ed007's Note - Roberts has already shown he can cut it up here but I know what you mean, it's a long hard fought slog of a season up here. It'll be entertaining listening to Rodgers, the Scottish press won't know what's hit them.}

8.) 07 Jul 2016 21:23:37
Don't worry Bond am sure you will be outstanding the players have a lot of character you know.

{Ed007's Note - Cheers mate, fingers crossed.}

9.) 08 Jul 2016 01:48:43
Atleast your lot will have character, 007!

I'm sorry, find me another team that produces 1 or 2 players every few years. If you actually bothered to watch our youth teams you'd know that we have some brilliant players, however them taking the next step is a whole different ball game. I think the 'Class of 92' may have spoiled your view on this matter.

Should watch Lazio if you ever have free time and they're on. Great team to watch when they're playing well, with some exciting talent.

M-S, Parolo, Immobile (although hasn't done well eslewhere), Keita-Balde are all a joy to watch when they're on point.

I agree, 001, I think he would have cost a fair bit, and may be why we have taken a step back alongside them saying he is going to sign a new contract. I envisage him going to either Bayern or Juventus within the next few seasons. Mabe Juve when Dybala goes.

MPez

{Ed001's Note - Juve were very interested in taking him in the summer, hence the new contract to stop it.}

jred, I believe 002 mentioned on the European pages that Lazio made it clear that the player will be signing a new contract at the club. Also, could be possible that Lazio are asking too much. There comes a point where signing a player isn't viable (in terms of fee demands) no matter how good they are.

Shame, really, as I believe he would be great in alongside Pogba. A lot of people have buzzed about Keita Balde this season, however, when Lazio really tick it's been when Milinkovic-Savic has ticked.

I think I read somewhere that Real/ Barca only had a few cases where they broke the rules, whilst Atletico had upwards of 30 or so. Understandable why theirs wasnt overturned if that is the case.

In fairness, 001, Lukaku has more assists than any other striker in the prem in the last 5 seasons. I'm not saying he's the be all and end all, but he has more to his game than you've just gave him credit for. However, football is a game of opinions, which makes it what it is haha!

MPez

{Ed001's Note - having assists does not mean a thing. How many are down to poor control meaning the ball bounces to another player? How many are due to him actively creating a chance for someone else? Stats like that are just crap and meaningless numbers on their own.}

Wazza, find me the last time he played as a RB. I think you'll be rather surprised. It has nothing to do with the fact he's potentially signing for us, it has to do with the fact that Monaco were arguably the most exciting team in Europe this past season, both domestically and in the UCL.

Sure, Gareth Bale is a LB by trade, what in the world is he doing playing at Right Wing as the second most expensive player ever. Cristiano is a winger by trade, what in the world is he doing winning the Ballon D'Or as a striker, mystifying.

The fact you have even mentioned Wanyama in the same breath is laughable. However, i'd love to know where you got this nonsensical idea that he fails to recover balls, given that he had the most successful tackles in Ligue 1 last season. Between this and the Pogba comment i'm starting to believe you don't actually watch football that much, would that be a fair statement?

MPez
