Thoughts on Mahrez from Leicester? MOTD fever or a legit decent option for RW?

Don't know if we have any interest but he is certainly a fantastic player, he was great last season but this season so far he has stepped up another level.

In a month I don't think he will be talked about. He has looked good, but he started last season similarly then dropped off rapidly. A bit greedy as well, we already have Depay & Januzaj and got rid of Nani who hold on to the ball a split second too long.

Still better than Mata for RW position, but we should be aiming higher imo.

Today's performance picked up where we left off last season. Generally devoid of creating chances but grabbing a goal from a bit of luck.

However there were some bright glimpses, the build up where Spurs couldn't touch the ball right before Memphis' shot springs to mind. Also I think we were pretty solid defensively today, shout out to Mike Smalling who defended solidly against a lethargic looking Spurs.

Hoping we shift Memphis onto the wing and play a more traditional 433 with one pivot next week though. Free Ander. Peace.

Haven't posted on this site since those dark David Moyes days, it's really refreshing to see the squad getting a good overhaul from LVG.

Anyway some player shouts from left-field:

CB - Höwedes - Schalke captain and experienced German international, played every minute when they won the WC, and yeah, I've got German fever ever since Basti joined. Solid leader, don't know how open he would be for a move however.

LW/CF/RW - Heung-Min Son - Young, versatile, pacey forward from Leverkusen, very clinical and two-footed. Think he is ready to step up to a big club, and there is the cliche marketing advantages that seem to come with signing Asian players.

Thoughts? Feel free to shoot me down haha

Any alternative CB's to Smalling Jones or Evans are fine by me. However we are leaving it so late to fill that position it is a concern. another player to bed in if we even sign anyone. Makes you wonder if we put all our eggs on one basket with chasing Ramos. Don't be surprised if we pick up Ron Vlaar on a free if we can't sign a big name before deadline day.

2.) 31 Jul 2015 21:43:08
Vlaar is out for about 4 months he's just had a knee op, won't be going anywhere.

Howedes is a very good player, and probably won't cost as much as someone like otamendi, I trust lvg and ed to get in some quality though

3.) 31 Jul 2015 21:43:23
Sonaldo is an absolute gem of a player, surprised he hasn't gone on to a bigger team yet, only ever seems to score pearlers. Has he even been linked to anyone this summer?

4.) 31 Jul 2015 22:25:28
Yeah I agree, although there is still a month left, the season starts very soon so perhaps we'll be looking towards Prem CB's that can slot right in, rather than oversea players such as Otamendi, who will likely take time to settle without a pre-season behind them.

Wouldn't like to see Vlaar though, if we are going for someone Prem proven I'd go all out for Stones or maybe Vertonghen.

I think Fellaini will add that presence in midfield which we haven't had since Keane or even Hargreaves left, God I hope Moyes doesn't play him behind the striker though, we have Rooney/Kagawa/Welbeck etc for that role.

Good to have someone who can attack and defend set pieces as well, against Liverpool we we're shocking from set plays (they scored from a corner, our set plays never found a man). Hopefully in a more defensive role Fellaini can break up play and provide cover for the back 4 especially when Evra inevitably gets out of position.

1.) You know what, I was thinking the same thing. I really hope and pray he doesn't put him behind the striker or I think Moyes reign at OT will be very short.

2.) Yeah playing him behind the striker would definitely be sending out a negative message, would only use him there as a last resort if Roon/Kags got injured!

Basti is far from a defensive midfielder, he was everywhere today!

I think in 20 years time we'll look back at Rooney's record in sheer amazement, we'll forget his horrendous first-touch and runs of poor form because his record will speak for itself.

The comparisons between him and Charlton are pointless, time will show that both are legends of their respective era, it takes talent, dedication and hard work to break records at arguably the biggest club and most competitive league in the world.

Carrick isn't left footed and would therefore not fit the 'philosophy'.
