Reported now that we have officially made contact with Brighton over Baleba and if an appropriate bid is made, talks will start.

Agent Onana has apparently been speaking to Baleba telling him United is the place to be, we wait further developments.

The more i read about this the more sceptical i become. This is starting to stink of putting the noises out there to make it look like we are trying to sign the needed midfielder but then being able to say 'Well Brighton were asking an unreasonable amount' when we inevitably pull out due to it being incredibly expensive.

Would love to be wrong.

Jeez Whiskey Red. What a cynical post. Three superb buys so far and seemingly not over. Nobody can say Amorim isn’t being backed. It’s a long long while since I felt this optimistic at the start of a new season.

BRD you do know this season is the same pessimist owner as last season who cut endless club funding?

Don't act like it's completely out of question to think that.

He did and cuts needed to be made. I guarantee you player wage bill will be cut by a higher percentage saving more funds than any other area. Cuts needed to me made through every aspect of the club and still need to be made.
This is not a made up story or posturing.
Im doubtful it will come off but I'm very hopeful
Brighton are open to a sale at the right offer. Can we make an offer they deem acceptable? The positive in that report is that they will sell for a price. He would like to move. So it all rests upon whether our valuation is aligned with theirs.

It feels like a Madrid tactic, let a player know you are interested, have a few people get in their ear then just wait. I don’t think the club, as much as the fans feel an urgency for a CM and perhaps Baleba is a long game BUT if the opportunity comes up to get this summer wie’ll jump on it. I said to Ken I think Collyer could be a part of any deal, I was thinking after maybe Collyer with option to buy and also Kone on a loan for the season would sweeten the deal for Brighton?! Reckon it will be an exciting couple weeks in the market.

@BRD I would not call the front 3 “superb” buys with honest.

Two are premiership experienced decent players, the third remains to be seen how he works out in the best league but none of them are opinioned by me world class and kind of players a club of this stature and history would like to call upon. Some of those that have gone or look like going, that have had many criticisms on this site are similar profiles. Again opinion of me is they have been mismanaged to point of them being called out, then go on and raise their game again elsewhere. It is going to be a transition period for Man U and the important part is to get these decent, though not superb, players to play as a team.

Wow devil ish!

We’ve signed “Superb” targets in the past; big names, big transfer fees, even bigger wages and it certainly hasn’t worked out well.

Now we’ve gone for players that actually fit the managers system for a change, with proven records in the premier league.

And signed someone that has been in huge demand with some serious potential.

And yet you’re still not happy and don’t consider it “superb” jeez some people are hard to please.

I should explain. I am not a Manchester fan @Airforce. I have interest in football and watch out the top clubs in football. For the premier league that includes seeing how Manchester clubs progress, Chelsea, Liverpool, the top London teams.

It is just an opinion and I don’t think Manchester United have necessarily recruited bad now but I don’t also think they have in the past. My point is some of those past or expected to be past have been badly criticised more than the organisation that never got the best out of them. Then they go and the best out of them is found elsewhere.

I am not criticising the buys I am not I am criticising the prior usage and wait to see if these similar profiles get better managed.

He has a point, but right now, buying premiership proven players is a sensible move, we know they can do it on a wet Tuesday in Brentford.

Are they superb? Possibly, possibly not. Will they improve us, hell yeah. And it seems we haven't finished yet.

The interesting one is Sesko, if he can realise some of his huge potential, then we may well be using superb to describe him.

He does have a good point, we are all happy that players are coming in and should improve us a lot, but like I have said all along they are good players not great players, had someone on hear saying even Yoro walks into any team any where that’s delusional……

Someone even said Amad nailed on RWB not sure RA been told the same! Going by preseason…

Some even said we been very good defensively seasons past. forgetting the fact all back 5 set deep and 2 holding midfielders most games never come out our own half!, if we get the ball forward much quicker for our strikers and Amad is RWB our defence and midfield will get torn to shreds, there is little pace or experience to cover the gaps.

But of course you can’t be a realist you have to wear red tints and think we bought world class players, we still only have one and that’s Bruno and majority on here want him sold to replace with a shiny new toy… it’s unbelievable.

German, I don't think anyone is saying we've bought world class.

We've bought two very good, prem proven players who fit the system. They aren't superb buys on quality alone, but because they tick all three boxes, and while we've paid a lot, I don't think we've overpaid, by current market standards.

We still have issues elsewhere, but we were never going to completely fix the team in one window, and this is good progress, especially since we may still get a midfielder as well, although presumably that will depend heavily on getting some sales.

And THAT iis being realistic. What you are calling realism looks more like pessimism.

Sesko is good, with potential to be great, appears fitted system, but isn't tested in the prem, so arguably he isn't as good a buy as the other two, but given how badly we needed another striker.

I have reservations about buying another young striker on potential, but still, I think calling it two superb buys and a good buy with potential to be superb, is fair.

Jeez a few in here could suck the joy out of anything lol.
Three brilliant buys so far, no idea where the money is coming from and I'll leave that to the experts to debate but keep em coming I say. If Baleba can be paid for via Klarna then maybe we can scrounge together the first instalment and add probably the best midfielder we've had since latter end of the Fergie era.

I think yoro would play ahead of konate at Liverpool after all Liverpool did try to sign him.
I think he would start ahead of collwil or challabah at Chelsea he would start at Newcastle and arsenal is more debatable he would start his fair share at city.
So imo its not that outrageous a statement.
Im not sure who made the post but I remember reading it.
You may disagree with the uneducated opinion as much as most disagree with many of your or my uneducated opinions.
It can't be proven right or wrong just two football watchers with differing opinions.
Just because you think its an outrageous call doesn't mean it is it just means you think it is. Which is fine.
Let's hope your wrong and we score more goals this season and let in less than last season.

17.) 08 Aug 2025
08 Aug 2025 18:00:16
LOL…. yep I agree it’s opinions, but seriously he gets nowhere near Arsenal, I’m not even sure he gets ahead of spurs two if they were fit, he makes a few mistakes because lack of experience, in a flat back 4 that would be punished, it’s easier for him in a three, but at this stage of his career he never ever walks into any team….
I really hope we score bucket loads and let in very little, I just don’t see it at all, we are too pedestrian through the centre and with a GK without hands, that will spell trouble….

I shouldn't have read this thread. Feel like I've just been a vampire's latest meal. By any stretch we've already had a dream summer. The definition of world class is nonsense, but Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko were all the targets of CL qualified clubs and we've gone from a scenario where our forward line was one of the worst in the league to one where all three are generally deemed good enough for a CL level side. All are young and hungry and on the upward-slope in their careers. We have young, hungry defenders, a potentially star in Mainoo and still have our best player for the last several years in Bruno. Times are good.
