Which one player that we have been linked with in the past would people have wanted us to sign in the respective time period?

For me, being only 21, it would be Steven Gerrard when he was flirting with leaving LFC. I think as a long term replacement for Roy Keane he would have been perfect. If we had got him in 2003 say, I don't think we would have gone four years without a title.

LMAOF, very good Mr Bond. National Substance Abuse helpline:)

We didn't go 4 years without a title - so obvious Gerrard would have been an unnecessary signing anyway.

Not really sure what that's meant to mean to be honest given that Steven Gerrard was quite clearly a terrific player for Liverpool and would have made a significant difference to our team, but hey ho.

Also, the 4 year mistake was a typo.

Who would you have had then, Ed007?

{Ed007's Note - There isn't a footballer alive, dead or due in the future who could replace Roy Keane, he is by far the finest not just footballer but sportsman/athlete that will ever exist. I would have picked Gabriel Batistuta as my choice btw.}

We get linked to everyone over the years. Take your pick! Oh. you did. Zidane for me, or Gascoigne.

6.) 09 Jun 2014
Alan Shearer would be the player who I think would of won us another one are two more champions leagues if we had of got him before he went to Newcastle. What a team we would of had if we got him at the time

7.) 09 Jun 2014
Lol, cheers ed!

I'd have had Gascoigne yes, but as I say I wanted my pick to be from my lifetime where I've really watched and understood football and Gerrard would be my pick however unpopular! Ronaldinho another but then we probably wouldn't have seen Cristiano Ronaldo here. Every cloud!

{Ed007's Note - If Utd had signed Batistuta they would have had more CL trophies in the cabinet, he was that good! And it was only the 90's when he was in his prime, I'm not that old :)

Gazza, he would have been a fantastic player under SAF,
In your lifetime Shearer

10.) 09 Jun 2014
I've seen a lot of him on video ed, fantastic striker.

11.) 09 Jun 2014
Yes GDS2 I wouldn't either change that night. It was the best night of supporting united all these years. Are squad that year was amazing. But I would say we would of still had ole in are squad but prob not Yorke. But can you imagine having shearers goals in that squad we had in the late 90's it would of been great

12.) 09 Jun 2014
Believe we certainly did go 4 years without winning the title mate u was spot on!

2003 then we won it in 2007

Shearer in his prime - almost unplayable, and as good a centre-forward as I've ever seen.

Agree with the Batistuta shout, and would have loved to have seen Ronaldinho at OT.

14.) 09 Jun 2014
Shearer was second only to brazil ronaldo .
Best striker the epl has seen imo

15.) 09 Jun 2014
Ronaldinho, the most entertaining player this world has ever seen. Such entertaiment complimented by consistent end product. IMO, at his best, his top end is(was) better than Messi/Ronaldo. Absolutely unplayable.

Deeps

If I could pick any striker to lead our attack now, it would be a 23 year old Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

17.) 09 Jun 2014
Yeah mate, only 3 seasons without it though as we won it in the fourth. Depends how you look at it I guess.

18.) 09 Jun 2014
Yes I have to agree there Stevie about Shearer. He was pure deadly.

Ruud was a beast aswell it's such a shame as he joined us at the wrong time. Very hard to believe he only won 1 league title in his 5 years with us
