United legend? No way, he has always been like this. A great player in terms of efficiency but not at all likeable. A complete diva!

Deeps.

He was our 'complete diva' once and maybe one of our best players in recent times.
Won multiple titles, an fa cup, a few league cups and a CL too.

He won the golden boot scoring over 40 goals in a season.

along with his numerous ypoty and poty awards he added a world player of the year too.

We asked him for another year and to sign a contract in order for us to get a world record fee and he did and he helped us reach another CL final that year.

All in his time here.

He's a legend for me.

He is a Madrid legend, bit of a stretch for us to call him a legend of ours imo. But it's all about people's own perspectives and what "legend" means to them.

I don't like the guy at all. There are a lot of people that are world class in their professions and they accomplish things with more grace and humility - he isn't a boxer where ego can and does intimidate. He is over pampered and treated like a God. Admirable qualities in his dedication to his profession, but he doesn't sit right for me.

I heard some music on the BBC yesterday as they were about to highlight the next days games, but I couldn't see the screen - it didn't matter I knew it would be a Ronaldo montage. I could tell by the sycophantic brown nosing it could only be about one guy, media drive me crazy.

I didn't feel that way about Cantona, so it's just Ronaldo's femininity and celeb/ needyness that irks me I think. The falseness of the man as well.

He is a legend ctr but how he conducts himself he is a complete w ker there is other players just as good and more humble i can imagain him each night sitting 8n front of a mirror just look8ng at himself.

He might be a bit of a diva, but he was a top player for us,
When he was on the pitch for us I wss always confident he could nick a goal.
If we had to pick a united 11 I'm sure he gets a place.

For all of Ronaldo's ability and hard work, his goal celebration says all you need to know about him. He is a sickening narcissist. It's about him and not the team.

He is a legend and i think its down to his competitiveness the way he acts. He is really passionate and doesn't like losing or not performing.

If players had the same mentality and eagerness to be the best you can be like ronaldo then you will know why he really is a class above all.

Agree wholeheartedly with Singh on this one, you don't get to be that good without needing to win and being devastated when you don't. Sure, he could have shook more people's hands, and I am sure he did after the camera went off him, but he must be frustrated playing in such an average team.

Beast, I think it is no secret anymore that his 'femininity' is because there is a good chance he is gay, not an issue and no reason to dislike him at all surely.

And if every player at United trained like him we would have one good fit team.

Yeah damn right he signed an extra year for us and claimed he feels like a slave. He is a great player, does not make him a legend. I don't like or dislike him, indifferent about it. But talking about what he won here won't take away the fact that he jumped ship and behaved not so gracefully in the interim. He is a winner yes, but does not care about anyone else but himself.

I couldn't and yous shouldn't care what Ronaldo is like off the pitch. It's that drive and determination mixed with ego and selfishness that made him into the player he is. He gave us some fantastic years and if you read any of the ex players autobiographis, they all say what an amazing trainer and professional he is and has dedicated his life to his craft.

He's as much a United legend as Cantona is. If Rooney had of dedicated his training the way Ronny did, he might have graced the echolons of the world's greats. Do you honestly give a $hit that he where's earrings, gels his hair, is an egomaniac? It's the media's depiction of him being the glory hunter and it all being about him. Then you have the media's depiction of Messi. Just a little humble lad who wants to play football. Loves his teammates and wouldn't hurt a fly.

Iv read plenty of stories of Messi being just as bad if not worse. A can of Pepsi and Guardiola come to mind. Ronny on the pitch has high standards and sometimes he looks like a spoilt kid but I certainly wouldn't look down on him because of it.

GDS2 - I honestly didn't know that about him. My dig is about him being a wimp, but acts like he is Rambo - nothing to do with his sexuality (I know gay blokes that are hard as nails) .

Ronaldo is flexing and pouting none-stop, but diving and whinging like a baby. He acts like a spoilt brat when things don't go his way.

He uses his celebrity/ God like status purely for himself, which is why his actions are so selfish on the pitch when he loses or doesn't get the ball - or even when a colleague scores!

By the way - you can be a winner, with amazing talent and still be a nice bloke, respecting your opponents and treating people with dignity. Dying breed in this day and age, but it's not hard to be dignified when things don't go your way.

The CL final made me sick when he took such adulation for the 5th pen. Why go at 5 as well, foolish as 3 pens are guaranteed only. The only reason you go for 5 is from school days when you assumed that was the glory pen, only half the time not to take it because somebody missed.

He was rubbish in the CL final and yet acted like he was the bomb. Sickening.

{Ed001's Note - the penalty taking order is decided as it goes, he was waiting to take the crucial pen, so could have gone at 3 if needed.}

Good player for us legend for his dream club madrid.

He didn't behave that way when he was with us. Yes, he could be dramatic but the ego has taken over now and appears to believe he is some sort of footballing God. His free kick conversion rate is shocking yet there was no way he was not going to shoot (twice) at the end of the game.

GDS, He may have shaken hands afterwards but the childish selfish way he left the pitch sums him up nowadays as his post match interview proves. As Felipe Massa said, "a great champion knows how to win properly, and how to lose properly", a lesson Ronaldo could do with learning.

Beast, I don't think he is feminine at all, I think he is incredibly vain and self obsessed. I understand the pressures and challenges but imagine if the best player in the world came out, what an incredible role model he would become.

A great player for us but he is leaving a sour taste nowadays.

He was a great player for us but wanted to play elsewhere. For me your either red our your dead. Thanks for the memories but I don't have any affection for him at all.

I find it interesting that a few people don't consider a player who helped us to multiple titles, back to back UCL finals winning one and one of only a few players to win the world player of the year with us not a legend.

He has always spoken very highly of United and with affection about his time with us.

He was a supreme professional and gave his all for us.

The only thing I can sort of understand about why people might not consider him a legend is due to the relative short time he was at our club compared to legends such as Charlton, Best, Scholes and Giggs.

But then he was at our club longer than Cantona was, and he never scored a goal against us for our cross town rivals which relegated us.

So if you consider Cantona and Law as legends then you are probably just being a little bitter not calling Ronaldo a club legend.

So ronaldo is a big girls blouse with a big ego.
And roy keane is a big mouthed thug from cork.
That's what some united fans think about 2 hard working players that gave their all for united
For me I just wish we had 2 players like them today
They will always be liked by me.
And any united player that gave it 100% while he was at the club
Even my good friend fellanni.

I think you have to ask other players if they respect him as a person and a player and from what I have heard they do. The truth is that it is rare in any field for a person at the top not to have some ego. I E thing about Ronaldo which is quite noticeable is that as he gets older he is more than happy to provide assists for others to score. He does get frustrated when passes are misplaced or players don't put in a shift but this is only because he does always try to win matches. As others have said he is a winner because of his talent which he has honed over the years and his total dedication to his craft. If Messi had not been around we would all have appreciated him even more. The fact is that he has often almost single handedly dragged Madrid to winning cups. Yes Madrid have great players but they haven't played so much as a team as Barcelona has. Messi has been blessed to have Iniesta and Xavi and others behind him. Imagine how many more goals Ronaldo would have scored with them! It is also an unfortunate trait of us British to be quick to criticize the person who doesn't quite fit the mould someone who is different someone who does excel at things and is not afraid to say that they do. At Man Utd we have normally been the one club to welcome these players from Best to Cantona to Ronaldo. And i wouldn't have it any other way. So in my eyes Ronaldo is up there with the best on merit hard earned and deservedly a true Legend.

Aren't we about to sign Zlatan, didn't he invent narcissism?
