James did well yesterday and offers more pace and energy as well as an outlet to build counter attacks. Defensively as well helps out by closing players down quickly.

He has also shown his finishing skills with the goals he scored and can also assist with his crossing ability. Just needs the right guidance and he could become a valuable part of the squad.

With Martial really not doing much I would play James ahead of him especially in games where the opposition don't like to sit back and leave spaces in behind.

agree lpu - hope he picks the same starting 11 for newcastle and possibly gives more minutes to amad. never a real martial fan so wouldn't play him unless well up to rest another player. Possibly give minutes to tuanzebe resting awb 2nd half- well pleased last nite was a good performance all over the pitch.
Henderson vocality was great to hear and its about time he got a run at no 1.

James played well yesterday and I'm pleased for him that he got his goal. That being said, he shouldn't be starting many games.

James is like Fred for me, will only be of use in specific games and is quite poor technically compared to others in their position. They are both very suited to counter attacking, if we have the majority of the ball we'd be far better with others on the pitch.

He won't play the same team vs Newcastle, which makes sense for now at least until they reach the later rounds. But I believe he said Diallo may feature in the second leg, maybe he'll start.

Fred is like the pantomime villain on here. He played two good key passes out to rashford yesterday that were quick and accurate and led to two goals. He is often neat and tidy in tight areas and we have had many good games this year where he has played very well. He is a much better player now than people on here are giving credit for.

spenno- he probably won't but there's plenty of argument for doing so- henderson is a valid option to ddg on ability and confidense alone, the back four have played as a unit several games and the midfield defensive 2 fred and mctom have started more than not. fernandes rash have played almost every minute so that's a no brainer and then we have james who although hasn't started or played a lot has undoubted pace and against a injury ridden newcastle defence could cause problems as well as tracking back to double up on st maxim. cavani had a knock, shaw could be rested / sub and matic could either start or be sub to rest as last nite in case of mctom.
newcastle are so poor in midfield, have wilson out and probably will play the clowns boot, carroll. Ad the earlier poor defence options and the line up last nite against looks as good as any other. We also have subs / options.

Yh Fred is perfect for the europa league, has always performed well in europe for us tbf, even in the champions league, missed him massively in leipzig.

Hes just a very odd player, so good off the ball but absolutely baffling to watch on the ball, second touch is normally a tackle and his forward passing accuracy is about as reliable as reliant robin.

Agree on James, I believe he takes his chance when played more than others. Although I believe Donny will come good for us I don't think he has taken his chance as he should, but many think he is not getting a fair break but James does well when called on but not many think he is not getting a fair break.

Fred is the most improved player of the lot and credit where it's due he has been consistent with his performances this season. There is still room for improvement.

Fred is a decent midfielder though not top class. His work ethic and attitude is what I like in him.

DJ is a squad player imo and has to improve a lot in end product.
At the moment, our first choice front-line is Rashford, Cavani and Greenwood.
Diallo is close to making the starting XI per Ole, interested and excited to watch him.

Fred has improved hugely this season, especially in the second half of the season. He covers every area of the pitch, so his engine and application was never in doubt. But his touch and passing ability were awful and he was a liability who teams would target to press in our half. He seems a lot more composed now, and his passes aren't going astray anything like how they used to. I'm not going to damn him with praise, but it's important to see that improvement.

I think he (Fred) has taken a while to settle. But he is taking over the role from Matic now I think.

If fully fit I would have put Matic in first team for stability and forward passing / ball retention / defense screening etc. Now I would pick Fred first up for that role every time. Big improvement from when he first came.

Dan James is a funny one. He looks out of his depth I think. He still does good things. He works hard. But his body language looks like he is lacking in confidence at this level, and his end product needs to improve. Good impact this week, so hopefully he gets some confidence and increases his impact. Because he can certainly do a job in a squad game. Be is more natural winger than many of our first team forwards.
