ETH said after Bayern "Todays performance was very good, we didn't deserve to lose but we lost the game. "

Apparently we had "good intensity", "very good ball regains" and "a very good chance"

Last week he said "you can see we are really improving" . He has also described our football as "brave, proactive, dynamic"

We had one shot on target last night from the left full back. Trying to gloss over what we are seeing with that utter nonsense is worrying.

This is moving quickly towards an end game.

Whilst I agree none of the performances have been great Chelsea being the best result the last 3 games have seemed "better", in this I mean there were more positives especially than the Newcastle game.

However there are still issues and a manager who consistently plays someone like mctominay who is so polar opposite to his "philosophy" or style is only asking for trouble, it's not only that he keeps playing him it's that he is never subbed even when offering 0 and contributing to the issues. (yes I also understand he's the only one scoring but is his lack of support in build up stopping us creating chances our forwards would score leaving them with lesser/ harder chances? )

I am sure you would like to see an end game. Been reading this page for 10 years and you have gone after every manager. Fans like you are just as culpabale for the mess we are in as the owners. You overanalyze every word and put a twist to it.

I agree with ETH what we had out there on the pitch was good performance against a European giant coming in with a fully fit squad and looking to make amends after a very bad result over the weekend. Kane did nothing all game and he is suppose to be the best striker in the world. Did he have a shot on target?

Given how opiniated you are on line ups, tactics, players, managers you surely must understand that game was always trying to get a goal and fight to see it out.

Unfortunately they scored first from a poor phase of play where plenty of players could have stopped it before Coleman was wide open in the box.

Some see glass half full all the time and you are one of them.

Our love child Garnacho lost possession 15 times and Antony had 10 and Hoiland is too raw and had zero impact against their cb pairing and they handled him with ease. We were outclassed by better players. That's all and no need to over analyze things.

I for one am glad the manager does not vent in public and go after players.

You seem to think the manager is always the problem, we are just not that good and our players are mostly overrated by our fan base and the second string are so so so average. If they were better we would see some real funds from sales, which never happens.

Dbrooks

Who do you play instead of mc atm? Bruno is not made for receiving the ball under pressure and does very poorly when he has no space and crowded. If you play 2 sitting mids, bruno has to be the guy to receive the ball in traffic, that's not his strength. His strength is get the ball to him where he has space and some time to look around and try something.

I agree ETH is not the main problem, however I’m yet to be convinced he’s the right man to take the club forward.

The players are the problem. But that’s no easy fix as we’ve seen over the last few years.

We have to just hope that this reported new structure coming with SJR will start to move the club in the right direction.

All the other managers barring Rangnick used to belt out the same spiel, its like its the official club line rather than eth’s opinion.

Actually I didn’t go after every manager, incorrect. I am not asking for ETH to be sacked either but some of his comments are almost Moyesesque. It wasn’t a good performance, it was dreadful one lacking any passion. We achieved the same as Newcastle but hell I watched them last night and injury or not they gave it a go. We didn’t, stifled by negative don’t lose tactics. Our crowd were apathetic, started chanting Attack after about 85 mins, likely bored to tears.
I haven’t called for the sacking of ETH but as United manager he must do a lot better, understand the dross he and team is serving up, relate better to those who turn up and pay good money or he will be gone. That simple.

Are you forgetting that ETH wanted these players, Antony 80 million and Hoijland 72 million.

Ahmad you do make me laugh. The irony of you calling somebody opinionated whilst posting your opinion regarding their opinion is comedy gold. You post an opinion half a dozen times a day yet somebody with a different viewpoint is ‘opinionated’. Too funny ?
I sometimes wonder if we watch the same games. Sorry, just my opinion. My bad for failing to obtain authority to have the right to an opinion before posting said opinion.

They are missing 3 key players to their first 11 one being a goalie. Its media bias how things are reported. Their core has been intact the whole time. Back, middle and upfront. Granted he is short of options to make changes but still has the core of the team to put out there.

Given how the media will run with the slightest of negative stuff around the club, Why give them fuel to add to the fire and what does it accomplish if the manager comes out and is negative on players or the team.

Finally what is it that makes you think the team we had out vs Bayern should have done better and what so difficult to accept that across the pitch they had like for like better players on that pitch in almost every position.

In 1979 we met Liverpool at the peak of their powers in a semi final of the FA Cup, they were miles better than us. The team played with heart and passion ran for their lives and got a draw, could have won. We did win the replay. Heart and passion, effort coordinated. Lesser teams have won cup games for years. I saw no organisation or passion on Tuesday bar maybe a couple of the younger players including Garnacho. Our organisation is disappointing for a Dutch coach with ETH reputation. It isn’t just Bayern, many games this season have looked the same.
He can’t come out after and pretend everything is great, the fans just think he is talking corporate speak to protect himself and the players. We can see with our own eyes.

I don't like what I'm seeing either redman but I have to see that we looked more solid against bayern where against Galatasary, Newcastle and Everton at times we looked like conceding on every attack. I think if ETH gets us better defensively then goals will come with team confidence.

He tightened us up in the last game of the group to the point where despite needing a goal and to win we didn’t try? Why wait until then? Tactical naivety?

Look it’s like he is going one way then another, trying to learn but not learning on the job. I can’t understand why Varane sat on the bench then trotted him out for Bayern.

Where is a structure, are we pressing or not?

Getting tighter defensively makes sense but we already couldn’t score. I saw something about the spine, well what was ETH asking for in Summer? Mount? A totally inexperienced forward? No Centre Back? But forced a new keeper

I just want to see logic but am not seeing it.

1979 was 40 years ago and the game has moved on and the world is a very different place. you need to move on and stop comparing. Everton used to challenge for league titles back then too.

Your opinion has never changes and I get it. You think everything lands at eth door and have very simple view of things and when things don't go as planned. it must be the manager and hence we must change. I think there is a lot more to it. The last 10 years we have blamed every manager who has walked through the door because we are simple jacks:)

I will watch the Liverpool game on Sunday and not get emotional about the outcome and expect a loss. If we lose looking organized and a better team with better players get the better of us so be it. I will not question effort or the manager, tactics, lineup blah blah blah. I never think that highly off myself to think i know better than a professional manager on line ups or tactics. I will be disappointed but no need to vent and ask for half the squad to go, manager is useless etc etc. different type of fans who support united.

I was with Yorkie today and he is doing the coverage with that twit Richard keys on Sunday on bein sports. I said to him make sure before he goes all in pre-match and post match as he loves to gloat on any bad result for united, in 2016 wayne rooney was the last guy who score at anfield.

If you lot are charging up you batteries to vent after sunday with what we have available to play, spare me the bs.

On the pitch, it's average, and that's being nice. There are a lot of players in that team that must take a look at themselves. I have to be honest, right from the word go I never felt there was a goal coming, never at any point. I don’t think we created a single chance all game. You’ve got a confused midfield, some of which are pressing, some aren’t, and they leave massive gaps between the defenders and front players. Everything is out of sync.

Not my words.

14 Dec 2023 19:43:27
Ahmad you clearly do not read my posts, at least not properly. I haven’t even mentioned ETH save to say I don’t believe he should be sacked yet. I do very much have an issue with the lack of effort of some of the players. I also have an issue with the lack of quality of some of our players. Can you, hand on heart, truly believe Antony is £85m worth given his input? Is Martial worth his contract? Is Rashford putting in enough to be worth his place?
Forget telling me endlessly that we have injuries affecting our overall ability to win games. I’m talking about players strolling and failing to leave it all out there. That is unacceptable. No excuses.
Perhaps you should consider saving me the BS……. please.

I said Antony was a terrible signing way back and someone accused me of having an agenda against the guy. I do however disagree with using Antony as a stick to beat up ETH all the time.

Klop signed Keita for a club record 54 mill and he was an absolute bust but it happens. The difference was he had other options and played them and they did well so no one really talked about it. ET gets grief for playing Antony, who puts in more poor performances than decent ones so it magnifies the mistake given the fee. The alternative is Pellistri which a worse option imo so we are stuck with Antony on the right.

The reality is no one really understand why we do the things we do when it comes to transfers, contract extensions and how on earth some of this stuff happens and been happening for so long. If you listen to previous managers who are gone they all seem to say a lot of it done outside their control and higher up the chain.

The club does some very strange things. People say we treated DDG poorly, I say we gifted him a 375k contract extension and owe him nothing, pure madness. Some of these players must be pinching themselves everyday knowing what they earn.

Finally I did not see anyone strolling against Bayern we lost to a better team. Sometimes better players can make you look poor, that's football. Its easy and throw away stuff to blame selections, effort or tactics when you are being outclassed.

Reality is the Bayern back 4 were just a class above our guys and Bruno who is our chief creator did nothing either. That all and nothing to do with effort.
