We are not going to sign a striker. The club has made that very clear. That's regardless of what the fans want. [If we do sign] we are more likely signing a RW [Griezman being the only better available signing left this window] & that's regardless of VG saying he doesn't need anymore attacking players. There isn't any top class centre halve we'll sign this window after Otamendi. We will likely sign just someone though. But my advice, in these 8 days left in the window, let's slowly come out of this revelrie of the Bale, Neymar, Reus, Lewandowski fantasies, to avoid those September 1 heartbreaks. After missing out on the remaining realistic targets, we can kindly reserve this habbit of exaggerating our manager's ambition for FIFA 16.

If Pedro joins Chelsea, there's no real strategy on our part about it. There's no special plan in place, no special alternative, neither is there a rabbit that will come out of our hat. Forget Muller, forget a striker. Noone is available. Missing Pedro was real tragic. Our only championship winning scoring threat lies in the feet of a 21 year old boy. If he's is ruled out for just a month with injury . we are screwed big time.

I think not paying more then a player is worth was the strategy Tony. People on here don't seem to realise that Pedro is a big risk of a player in the context of the premier league. For me he will flop at Chelsea and get bullied out of most games.

I know, GDS it is a bit ridiculous.
Pedro would have given us pace down the right but not much else. He does press well too; but at the end of the day, if he really wanted to join us and we really wanted him to join, I think the deal would have been done already.

I was only wondering, why not have Mata switch with Depay, and have these two brilliant players in their natural positions? Unlike previously, feather-light players like Mata will now naturally flourish in the hole [as he did at Chelsea] now that we have that steel in central midfield areas. Alternatively, why not have Herrera in the hole, (as I don't think Mata is better than Herrera in central areas) to just deploy Depay out wide, where he creates & dazzles alike. We need that pace on both wings.

I have been thinking the same. However Jose's article on LvG explains Mata's position in a way, or at least it sheds some light as to why he is played there.

Ruud Guilt is the latest name to urge LVG not to ruin Depay by playing him out of position also.
