hey fellas. I am a big fan of this site but have not posted regularly. I have a question I was hoping u guys could help me with.
Does Moyes tend to play players out of position as SAF did. I attribute the stunted growth of Anderson to this and think this has impacted Rooney to a large extent and Jones, Smalling and Kagawa to lesser extents. But the fact remains that they are not able to play in the position they play best in. So with Thiago coming in, I was wondering if Moyes will try and make room for him while making others play in positions they are not comfortable in.

1.) I think that SAF needed to play Rooney in midfield owing to the dire state of our midfielders through injury and choice
Anderson is just plain unfit

Welcome! I guess it depends o how many players we sign and who they are. There is a danger of we sign more than normal that it will take type to work out the best formation. It wa frustrating to see SAF not clear about where he wanted to lay Kagawa, he must have had an idea when he bought him

You need to look at why Sir Alex has playex players out of position. With the exception of Anderson, most of the players who are played out of their natural position are only played their for awhile, and they tend to be young players who are still learning. There for you could argue that maybe the reason these young players are being played in other positions are to help round them off as players by improving weaker aspects of their game. Rooney for example. was played wide left to improve his passing and decision making. And Jones has been played in midfield to improve his positional awearness.

There have been occasions when someone like Giggs has been played out of position. but that has been a short term measure to cover for injuries in areas of the field where we don't have enough strength in depth.

Anderson is a different case as he was signed at a time when we wouldn't play a speacialist attacking midfielder but two box to box type players. Because of Andersons strength and willingness to track back Sir Alex felt he could be converted. I personally think this was done because of the lack of quality box to box players in world football at the time.

As for will Moyes do it? Occasionally i'd imagine but it would depend on his need to do it.

Question for the eds and everyone else,
if spurs lose bale, do u think that AVB will go after rodriguez of porto. given his porto connection. What are the chances that this will impact his decision to come to us, assuming we are interested at that point. {Ed002's Note - No.}

1. Getting rid of the back room staff and scrapping Sir Alex's transfer targets. I can understand him wanting to stamp his own authority at the club, but he should have given it time and taken the advice of those running it for so long. Just keeping a few of the back room staff and having Strootman and Garay in the team would have made a lot of difference this season.
