Hey Eds,

Really confused by about the DDG situation. Does the new deal mean he's decided to stay at UTD long term (which seems contrary to what he wished before last week)? Is this a move designed to give DDG the wage he would have expected had he moved whilst allowing UTD to recoup a fee next summer which is good for DDG and UTD but may p*ss off Madrid (unless they've agreed a fixed price for next summer already)?

If DDG has decided to stay it's a real coup for UTD and shows they can win a transfer battle with RM. Very impressive.

{Ed002's Note - Why are you trying to read so much in to this. It is simply a footballer signing a new contract.}

What does it matter, he's playing for us this year, and if he does go next year we should get a good fee. Considering he very nearly left and could of gone for free at the end of the season i can't see anything other than a win win for Utd.

Ha ha if there was an pre agreement in place then he would surely only need a years extension Musca?

I think this outcome just goes to show the power of the agent in todays game.

whats he worth 40 mil.
not sure madrid look like they want to spend that on him .
they would also look a bit daft .
i don't see ddg leaving next season

Ed 2. Mainly because it doesn't seem to be in DDG interests unless the prospect of a move to Real Madrid is off (either because he no longer wants to go there or they no longer want him). With a year on his contract he had control of the situation, he's now ceded that to UTD. The extra wages this season is good but I doubt he'd be much worse off in the long run if he waited another year.

For a player who seemed set on moving to RM to jeopardise that move is interesting.

{Ed002's Note - It is simply another footballer signing a new deal - you are making this over complicated.}

Murph, I'm not a UTD fan, just an interested third party. I agree this brilliant news for you lot. I thought you'd really dropped the ball when his transfer went south.

Real madrid won't come back for DDG there's no chance their gonae pay 40 million for him when they could've had him for nothing. The question is tho how does the Mrs feel about it ad she was the reason for want to move in the first place hfully he's dumped her lol

Ed2, with all due respect, one of the best footballers in the world signing a deal that appears to contradict his position of just a week earlier is worthy of speculation.

I'd like your opinion on how this effects DDG's future, do you think a move to RM next summer is off and, if so, why has DDG changed his position (maybe it's just money).

{Ed002's Note - You are simply making stuff up as you cannot see it for what it is. I have no interest in speculating about next summer.}

Personally Muscatred i think Utd did everything they could to keep him and Madrid didn't do everything they could of done to get him, i think he's seen one team and fans really want him and another only if the price was right and fans that didn't care, it perhaps has opened his eyes to what he really has at Utd.

Hey all, Liverpool fan here.

I was wondering what the mood is here about your striking options? As far as I can see Rooney will have to start every game (with the possible exception of the League Cup), he's got no replacements on the bench and will suffer burn out. Couple this with the fact that he's had little impact in your first three games anyway and it adds up to you guys struggling to score the goals you need to challenge for the title?

Am I wrong in this? Are there strikers out there you can realistically get who will solve this problem? I'm interested to know what Utd fans are thinking?

I am worried about this as well. Hopefully we'll buy a couple of players before the window closes.

We've scored as many as you lot, Muscrat, mate. Are YOU worried?

Hey Allan, relatively impartial neutral here (Liverpool fan fascinated with what's going on in your club at the moment, it's also less depressing here than on our page).
I think the only way you win out of this is if DDG comes back into the team and is awesome this season. That's a big if. Worst case scenario is he doesn't play for you and you either lose him in January for a lot less money than you would have got or you lose him next summer for nothing.
Not saying this can't come good for you but describing what happened last night as 'win-win' is a stretch.
