Just imagine if LVG had replaced SAF last season instead of Moyes.

Now imagine that LVG had a similar season to Moyes's, which is pretty much the way it's looking like being as it will take a fair few months for everything to click (if it does) and by then it will be fortunate if we are competing for top 4. Not being negative just realistic.

Now imagine the board no longer believe in the LVG plan, because it's unrealistic for a team like Man Utd to wait that long and they get rid. Just like they did Moyes.

Now imagine we hire Moyes to replace LVG this summer and everything we have witnessed this summer has happened with Moyes, all the mixed messages, the player judging (again), the dropped points, the loss against MK Dons, the last minute transfer mess, the massively overpaying for players, most importantly the inept bewildered performances that are so anti Utd its unbelievable, etc etc etc.

Moyes would be lynched, but LVG is viewed as a saviour by many. Funny how that works and what one season can do!

Read The Moon's blog about LVG - it may be cause for concern to those of you that think LVG is the saviour or can help reinforce your views, depends on how you interpret it, but it's a good read.

It reinforces my view that LVG is a spoilt brat, he gets his way or he quits, if he gets his way and it fails then he blames everyone else, and quits. I think we have all boarded the Titanic here and as soon as that Ice Berg pops up our Captain will be on the one and only life boat out of there, there is something Billy Zane (or Charles Rane in Passenger 57)about this guy!

I'm worried.

That sounds a lot like a certain manager everyone admires a lot. Manages a certain club in London

2.) 29 Aug 2014
Seriously lighten up mate! There's no need worrying about what could or could not happen

3.) 29 Aug 2014
Lvg has been hailed the hero by some .
But the same people will be flying a banner over OT if we are not top by xmas

4.) 29 Aug 2014
So after three games playing teams that aren't first choice, through injuries, and with new players yet to feature you have decided we are going to have a similar season to the last one.
You sir are a defeatist, pessimistic, glass half empty fool!

5.) 29 Aug 2014
Beast mate, we get it, you don't need to remind us every day how you feel. You're as bad as Red man and DM last year (no offence RM)

6.) 29 Aug 2014
Beast you are worried?
Really?
What should we do fire him too?
what the hell is wrong with our fans?
last year half of the crowd was after moyes from the moment he was appointed.
this iyear the half that hated moyes backing lvg.
and the rest either being dreamy or being in denial.
The truth is ever since the 08 champions league we have been going downwards. we have been winning but being rubbishty predictable and very very bad. but the genius and the fear of Sir Alex kept the half of teams from beating us.
We are not a top 4 team yet. building team takes time. I was prepared to give moyes time. atleast to remove the deadwood. but he didnt. was punished. lvg has atleast tried to do that. it takes time.
i don't get the point some people make that we know people that players are rubbish. so you walk into a nrewly appointed job go there and tell every one around you. that . hey I have been here a day. but I know your rubbish? that's not how it works is it? Lvg may or may not be the saviour but there is no bloody point saying OH I Am worried!
Seriously!
over and out!

Beast,
I think LVG has a good track record allbeit a CV not without flaws. He is well respected within the game and he has coached at many of the biggest clubs in european football and won trophies everywhere he has been then had a great 2 years with Holland culminating in a wc semi final, he exudes confidence and will be a success, he is not everybodies cup of tea and he will upset players, the board, the press and the fans at times, but he is a great coach and those who catch on and do it his way will improve as will the team as a whole, once he has the players where he wants them and gets them to understand and implement his philosaphy we will see something great. Once he has the group clicking and fully in tune with each other you will see a team fully motivated brimming with confidence and 100% together, . I don't believe the club are in any sort of panic mode, just try to be patient. ;)

Imagine LVG took over last season instead of Moyes .
Imagine he wouldn't have spent over 60m on Fellaini ( not good enough ) and Mata ( another no. 10 to add to the others )
Imagine he'd kept the pressure on Woodward to get players in
Imagine he'd cleared out all the deadwood
Imagine we might be ready to go again this season instead of him having an even bigger mess to sort

9.) 29 Aug 2014
Beast, what is your problem with LVG? Yes, he is an arrogant so and so, but so was SAF, so is Mourinho. The difference between LVG and your best mate Moyes, is the fact that LVG has had success wherever he's been. Period.
We can only employ a man who has a good track record in successful management. At Bayern, he took over, changed the club, won two leagues an got them to the final of the CL, before a lot of interference from the heirachy over there. I spoke to him briefly about this, and he was very bitter about the way he was treated.
Moyes did nothing in ten months to give anyone any encouragement that he might be the right man for the job. He was abysmal in everything he did.
So please, let's give the manager ten months before we start calling for his head.
He has already started clearing the deadwood in the club, which is 100% more than Moyes achieved.

Beast mate you need to calm down a bit, From all your post one thing I m certain about is that u don't like LVG and for some reason seem to love Moyes, we get it.

But let's just make a list of players injured or unavailable currently,
rafael, shaw, carrick, herrera, smalling, rojo and I m not considering squad players here just definite starters. That's six starters unavailable, select which ever team in the world u wan't remove any six of their 1st team players see let's see how they perform.

U keep banging abt how people view LVG as savior while moyes would be crucified for this, it's simple LVG has Bundesliga title, a europa, a Liga BBVA title and 3rd place finish at world cup with a average dutch squad to show for as a CV, while moyes had I finished midtable with everton for 10 seasons. U think fans would have reacted same way had r manager been Guardiola r Klopp r Mou , I don't agree with the fact that moyes was sacked yet dear ed still retains his job, But in the end results matter, Fergie could have been sacked but for a FA cup.

U see Moyes n LVG r 2 different people, I don't thnk LVG will take kindly to ed deadwood if he does not get d players LVG wants while Moyes just took it lying down, U thnk if RVP and other seniors would have survived in d team if they had sulked the same way with LVG incharge as dey did when moyes was incharge.

U say LVG has a his way or high way approach , I ask a simple question why shouldn't he its on his head the axe will swing if he does not get it right.

12.) 29 Aug 2014
Yeah I made a mistake sending this again so soon. It was just a post wound me up below. I tried to get the Eds to move it to Others before they posted because I appreciate the drum is beaten to death. They ended up posting both on this lol.

Sorry guys, I will cool it for a bit.

I get the feeling that there aren't many on here that remember united pre Fergie. I'm not saying that I have much memories of that time myself, I'm only 32, but I think people need to realise we've all been spoilt rotten for the last 20 odd years. Teams don't normally win everything every year. Fergie was a genius and united's dominance was a freak of nature. Calm down and let Van Gaal do his job, he might be quite good at it.

I have a feeling these posts are going to look a little silly come the end of October.

15.) 29 Aug 2014
Beast - I agree entirely on the Moyes comparisons. For whatever reason fans seem a lot more forgiving when it comes to LVG than they did with Moyes - although I suspect that's down to their belief that LVG will eventually come good.

Personally I never felt that Moyes was the right man for the job and for that reason found it extremely difficult to support him when things started to go wrong (ultimately because there was no sign of things getting better or a long term plan other than 'hope for the best').

I've been critical of LVG because I think he's made some mistakes already - but ultimately I think he has the experience and skills to bring us back from the brink. He might fail - but I am a lot more confident with LVG at the helm than I was with Moyes.

He needs to start repaying that confidence with results though - because as far as I'm concerned missing out on Champions League football again is not an option. I suspect the board will have a similar view. We're still only two games into the season. If we're still performing as we are after 19, I imagine peoples' opinions will change - regardless of how much they talk about giving him time now.

16.) 29 Aug 2014
He is getting rid of the dead wood in record time we are lucky because dithering dsve would of probably give them all similar contrscts to nani

17.) 29 Aug 2014
Ground Hog day.

18.) 29 Aug 2014
I hope so GDS2.

19.) 29 Aug 2014
AJH, no offence taken my friend, I saw the disaster before he was appointed and I did actually say this time last year that I would give him time to see what he would do and it is easily forgotten I tried to be objective until it became clear he was out of his depth.

I think a lot of those giving LvG a hard time perhaps are not realising that we are looking at a decisive leader, a leader, a manager who has a vision of what the finished successful article looks like and knows how to get there because he has done it before.

LvG is actually doing what should have been done a year ago. Come in, assess where we are, plot a path and start dealing with the issues we have been talking about on here for about 4 years.
I have seen every manager since Sir Matt and after Sir Matt we dithered in the transfer market pretending the youth would rescue us. I recall one of the early 70's managers asked for major funds to buy some top players and it was declined, I remember the pain all the way to 74 because of it, Georgie Best questioned our ambition but we bumbled around.

We bumbled last season but now we have someone who is being decisive and setting about the arresting of a potential decline, the things United in 69 and Liverpool in 90 didn't do.

I am prepared to give LvG time, because I know the desperation of the pre SAF era and I see a leader in place.

20.) 29 Aug 2014
GDS2

We better be a lot better come end of October. We have spend 130 mill on 4 top players and with the existing group we should be winning against lesser opposition.

Far queen bellhop what happened to patience? To be fair the match day crowd stayed behind Moyes til the end pretty much. Some comments on this page are embarrassing.

22.) 29 Aug 2014
Blimey Gav, far queen bellhop?

I'm behind LVG but I guess if we rewind 12 months, when people started doubting Moyes, the optimists amongst us would never have believed we would finish 7th and be embarrassed so regularly at OT. Time will tell I guess although the key for me is we have a man confident in his own ability and beliefs, with a clear vision and strategy, and one who players will not disrespect. If anyone decides to take it easy they will be out. As SAF used to say, they have to know who is in charge.
