So city finalize one more defender. A solid one too. Pep has worked on last year's weak links very well. Attack was good anyway. So they are surely a force to watch this season. And against it. ED is still working. Jose is only hoping. We are about to enter season with no genuine winger, no second choice full backs who can provide quality, thin midfield. 2 quality signings added. Window is still open. But have we really shown intent in market for building a winning squad. I have my doubts. I Hope I got proven wrong by 31st August.

I think he may of made some good signings in defence. But clearing out the old guard and in with a brand new won't work in this league. The isn't football manager where players just go by stats and numbers.

They need time to settle and ease there way into the league and doing this way shows a complete lack of naivety that they will hit the ground running. And in my opinion shows up very poor managing ability.

Agreed FFZ. The exact reason I want us to delve within our own ranks with the likes of the young lads being a season older following double cup winning success. Rashford, lingard, Martial, Bailly and the even newer generation. Pogbas had a season to get to grips with the english top flight, as has mikki.

The call for wholesale change in one window is very naive in thinking that its a recipe for success, IMO.

rodio17 - I totally agree with you. Why is it when United want to go and buy a player it gets played out in the press for weeks and weeks. Why do we quibble over 5-6 million pounds, if Jose wants the player then just bloody buy him.
City seem to just target a player, offer the cash that the selling team want and bang. job done they sign the player.
Every season is the same. long drawn out transfer saga's.
Still no sign of a central midfielder and now Herrera is injured.

Yup. City have spend close to £200m this window on top of not much less last one. If any team needs a commentary team banging on and on during matches about how much money has been spent when they don't play well, it's City.

If, for example, they end up second in the league and make it to the semis in the ECL, I think Pep will get one more season. But anything less after such an outlay, I think he'll be a goner.

You are becoming the regular Victor Meldrew of this page mate. Pereira is like a new signing, McTominay was brilliant last night when he came on I thought, we are still looking for a couple more players and the likes of Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Pogba are a year older and more experienced, Rashford has looked extremely sharp so far in pre season.

You can always look at it from different angles, I would rather get our own house in order and not care if City buy a player who couldn't get a game at Madrid. If we had signed Danilo you would be on here saying he's not good enough as he couldn't get in their team yet City sign him and he is suddenly a world beater?

City's players will need time to settle, wonder how Silva and Mendy will like swapping Monaco for Manchester. On paper they have a very strong team now but they also have extreme amounts of pressure and a lot of new players to bed in, will be interesting.

City did need sure up the defence but I'd question buying 2 rb's for a combined 75 million as going a bit crazy, silva looks good and I think he'll settle quite well, John stones still has a question mark and kompanys fitness is in doubt. Couple all of that with bedding in a new lb and rb it's a big risk, especially with 2 aging but reliable and experienced full backs being let go. As a Utd fan I'd fancy our attack against this defence all day long.

I think city have shopped well they have let go 4 full backs and will sign 4. Silva may well be a good addition also.

Radio. I couldn't agree more with your post. City have looked at their weaknesses and gone out and strengthened extremely well. For someone to say that Emerson will have a nightmare is utter tripe. I've seen this kid and he's an extremely good keeper. I said prevuously, he'll be one of the top 5 in the world in 2 years time. As for the fullbacks, walker and mendy will be absolutely amazing. Wish we had bought them. They have strength in depth and Bernardo Silva will be a sensation. They also have very good youngsters coming through.
For anyone to disagree with your post or for gds or any other poster to dismiss them and say we don't care what they do, shows how arrogant some posters are. Wake up guys, we are not good enough and need strengthening in a major way. If you want to bury your head in the sand and deride everything city do then that's up to you, but don't think for one moment that our squads are on equal footing, if we don't strengthen with top class lb, midfielder, and winger then kiss goodbye to winning the PL.

Id take our keeper 2x cbs pogba possibly herrera and miki to get into their 1st 11. Lukaku and aguero fairly closely matched over last couple of seasons. But as for strength in depth of squad they are in a much stronger position.

Not sure Stand - if Kimpany injured, central defence looks suspect and Yaya and Gundigan in midfield not the most reliable.

Gds mctominay was not 'brilliant' last night he did nothing special but was also not exposed. It was the last 30 mins of a pre season friendly where every year on tour 3 or 4 kids get a run we won't see him again this season as you well know. let's not get carried away 😂
Schmid. There is a lot of time to go in the window. I expect 2 perhaps 3 new faces. They will be starters. Most big games next season there will be 6 or 7 jose signings starting when available.

City have improved in their fullback areas, no matter the cost. They have gotten younger and quicker on the flanks. But their center back situation is still shaky. Kompany is injury prone, Otamendi is overrated, and Stones is simply not a good defender, pretty as he is on the ball. In goal, Ederson seems talented but may need time to settle in. That said, City's attack is very, very good.

I don't really care about stats, I watched the game with my own eyes. The lad has never stood out to me before but in that game he was our best player in the 2nd half, I by no means think that suddenly means he will become the next Carrick just thought he played well.

Where what has come from. I just said that in no wat can you call it a brilliant percormance he did ok but nothing special. Opinuons are subjective but what did he do to be described as brilliant. To say your opinion can't be wrong because its an opion is churlish if he played for anybody else in not sure you wouls describe his display as brilliant.
