I don't know if anyone else sees it but Adnan Januzaj reminds me of Kaka. The way he glides rather than runs, and not being overly quick goes past people with relative ease.
I just hope we don't put to much pressure on him, I see the media are building him up to be the saviour of MUFC etc. He had a great game, but don't expect him to play the next game. (Moyes way of keeping him grounded). I think it would be a mistake but it seems Moyes stubborness (Zaha, Kagawa etc) may hinder our game for a while.

1.) Sambo1

That's exactly what I said to my mate when I was watch the match.

2.) He reminds me of a young Jovetic. Perhaps a little bit like Oscar too.

3.) I wouldn't like to compare the lad to anyone in particular to be honest. He looks the real deal though been watching him on MUTV for the reserves and he is gifted and looks a cracking player.

Moyes compared him to rooney and barkley but I have to admit he looks technically a better player than both.

With foreign players they have that extra bit of class than British players. I just really really hope he signs a new contract and we don't lose him.

Any progress on the contract situation Eds? {Ed002's Note - Nothing overnight.}

4.) What is the hold up then exactly? Is it due to finances or playing time and what role he will get in the team. {Ed002's Note - Done to death.}

5.) HE has this touch of class that reminds me of a younger Ozil, although his passing isn't up there yet.

I wouldn't compare him to Kaka though.

At his peak Kaka was the most magnificent counter attacking player I've ever seen. He was fast and powerful and when he had the ball with space to run into, he will score.

Januzaj is more of a pass and move player, and take players on when necessary but he is nowhere near Kaka in terms of counter attacking threat

I think general consensous is that we have been embarrassed this window. The problem is not with the signing of Fellaini, everyone knew that was on from the moment Moyes was appointed. Its just the fashion everything was done. Fellaini should have been wrapped up straight away but we wait till last seconds of window. Why?
The rest was just a bombardment of humilation. Herrera was just bizarre, then it was Khederia which was a panic bid, De Rossi, Fabregas, Baines, Coentrao all handled in an amatuerish way! We bid derisiory amounts for players and seem to walk away when it gets to £30m.
Yet we continue to call ourselves "The biggest club in the world", continue to spout "We will always be interested in the best players" yet the reality is that we arent, and we arent! We like to make the right noises, but when push comes to shove we run away, and this year because everything was public we look ridiculous.
Even Joe Kinnear at NUFC handled the window better than Woodward, and that's really saying something.

Sambo1

1.) I think one person that he did handle it better than was joe kinnear mate.

We get it now, not sure whether every single person is going to post the same thing for the next 2 weeks until we have a match, but the window is closed now, we must move on and support the lads.

2.) "We will always be interested in the best players" quote is so funny, really moyes is talking sh!t and I think he's a bit of a liar, he's been saying all window, were working on things.

He said he didn't think the valuation of Herrera was right? Like it or not that was his valuation so 1, why wait so long to walk away and 2, why pay 4m extra than fellani's clause (around 10m more than there 1st bid), yet he can't spend the extra few million for a kid that will be worth it in a year or so time.
Moyes is full of contradictions.

3.) Thats dithering Dave for you!

4.) Behave yourself, why are you blaming Moyes for Woodwards complete incompetence?.For a club who imo are the second biggest in the world to mess up the window in that manner is criminal.It looks like losing David Gill is going to be more of a loss than SAF.

This is depressing to say the least. I hope i'm not the only one who keeps checking the news hoping for something and finding nothing. Same story for past 3 months really. I think we have dropped a bo**ock by rejecting Ozil. Especially if its in favour of Fellaini. I think we have this phobia of going over £30m for players. When will the money men here wake up and realise that the going rate for talent is circa £40m now. Cesc, Ozil, Mata, are all going to fetch £40m plus. Yet we continue to fanny around trying to tempt clubs with £25-£30m.
We can not rely on the "history of the club" to convince players. Prestige and standing inthe game come second to money etc now.
Its about time we realised this and caught up with the rest of Europes top clubs.

I agree in part , in that we did have a lot of possession yesterday. But we mustn't forget that both Chelsea and Liverpool were set up so as not to loose, rather than going for the win. Over the years that has been case with most teams, especially at Old Trafford. Thankfully, we have in the past had enough threat going forwards to break these defensive minded teams down. What is worrying though is that recently we have not carried that same threat. We lack ideas going forward, are too slow and pedestrian in midfield with too many sideways and backwards passes. I agree we need to retain possession, but possession alone does not win football matches.
The longer that we go on looking short of ideas going forwards, the more teams will realise that they don't need to be so defensive against us. With the current squad this will cause us big problems. We badly need a defensive midfielder, an another who will carry more more of a threat going forwards. In my opinion , the back 5 who started at Anfield plus Carrick and Van Persie are good enough. The rest are, unfortunately not good enough. Welbeck too often flatters to deceive, though does at times look promising, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Cleverley is I suppose steady, but is not good enough to be a starter. Giggs has been a legend but it is time to bow out gracefully. Young is just not good enough.
Throw in a fit Rooney, Kagawa and even Nani and Anderson (if they both stay) and we are not in too bad a shape.
Add a good defensive midfielder, and a good creative player plus an alternative for the inconsistent Evra and we are in very good shape.

If we signed Ozil and Fellaini how would we fit them into a starting line up. I think Cleverly would make way because as good as he is he isn't good enough. He is "Safe" in the same way that Carrick is, but can we play with two players in that mould. So do we play Fellaini and Carrick and Ozil on the left? But then what of Kagawa.
I think we need to offload Valencia. I think there is a mixed reaction to him at the moment. He has lost that confidence, that drive to beat his man and whip in crosses. Ashley Young did it in the 10 mins he was on last night.
I think last night was crying out for Kagawa or Zaha. Someone to do something slightly "exciting" or different.

Sambo1

1.) Carrick is the best midfielder in the league although I really like the look of Spurs new guy Paulinho.

2.) It's a squad game mate, we would need all of the players mentioned, not just a first 11.

3.) Yes I totally agree, but all summer people have been asking for signings. We are looking at Cesc for £35m, Ozil for the same. Would you say they were squad players? No they are 1st teamers. So someone has to drop down. i'd say Cleverley. Yes he played well last night but he is so conservative and riskless. It suited last night, but when we need that bit of creativity where does it come from? Giggs. Carrick. Anderson. Exaclty. None of them have it.

I keep reading "We can't let Rooney go" or "We can't win without Rooney" but for arguements sake say we did do a Rooney Mata swap.
We would make a massive saving on wages. Mata is 2-3 years younger, and I thinka better player. don't get me wrong Rooney is good, but even the most biased will have to admit his form has dropped off in the last 18 months. So I am struggling to see how we would lose out in that deal. {Ed004's Note - We wouldn't. Mata is one of the best players in the league and I'd happily do a straight swap}

Sambo1

1.) I honestly would take a straight swap for either one of Mata or Lukaku for Rooney as I believe Mata is already top class and would help our attacking play speed up a lot and Lukaku is just a pure beast who imo can be better than Drogba in his prime and we haven't had a physical forward in years.

2.) I think Mata would be a brilliant signing, but why would Mourinho let him go? Mata is Mourinho's new Robben at Chelsea - Mata will stay at Chelsea and Rooney will more than likely remain here. If we do get a versatile forward I can see it being Ozil.

3.) We won the league at a canter last season with a rooney in indifferent form, add Mata firing behind RVP and our forward line would be immense imo

When Moyes was appointed I was impartial, I sat on the fence as I wasnt sure what to think. He looked like he did a good job at Everton on the infamous "shoestring budget". He looked solid, and had the longevity to him that Utd needed.
I work with a couple Everton fans, they said he will make Utd hard to beat, but will take all the fun and excitement out of the game with negative tactics and defensive approach.
I argued the point at the time, saying its Man Utd, Moyes will have to adapt and learn the way we play. Low and behold its gone the other way, we are playing boring, uninspiring football which is painful to watch. I read something yesterday which said "How to judge Moyes, is to look how Everton are doing now they have rid themselves of the Moyes burden" Its a great point. Martinez plays attacking football and Everton are looking good. We however look poor.

Rant Over. for now

I have said this for the beginning of the window regarding Fellaini and Baines. I said that we will be linked with all the biggest names in Europe and nothing will happen. As time goes on the more desperate the club appears and the fans are. Then we will sign Fellaini and Baines, who the fans at the start of the window would not have chosen, but will now accept with open arms because we have done nothing else.
