whether Rooney stays or goes, and judging by the reception he received on his appearance this afternoon, most supporters couldn't care less! is this not a case of the tables being turned, he the one who threatened to depart due to his perception that the club no longer matched his ambitions, then that same club having lost the premiership by the narrowest of margins signed the one player whose ambition and drive promptly helped them win it back again! Robin Van Persie it seems is more perceptive than Wayne Rooney.

cheetham lad

1.) He has never been the main man and I think he cannot handle that. First was RVN then Ronaldo now RVP.
I personally don't see how he fits in the team anymore, doesn't warrant a starting place that's for sure.
To put in not one but two transfer requests shows he hasn't got the club in his heart anymore.

Melwing28

2.) The true supporters support the jersey. players come and go, we love many and some remain in our hearts, but a guy asking for a transfer twice in three years shows little respect. maybe if he gets himself to the proper fitness he should have and got his act together he would be much better. his standards have dropped, ours haven't

3.) It's time for him to go. As you said Cheetham Lad, the tables have been turned and the fans are now showing an indifference towards him. I still feel he has something to offer, but to put in two transfer requests is disgraceful and the club should let him go to the highest bidder. We as a club always move on and we will will next year after the upheaval that has gone on.

Red Pedro

4.) Let him go, or more like taxi for Rooney. I have no idea what is wrong with him. Perhaps he needs to do a job that is not fun like myself. I then spend a lot of money to see someone like him go through the motions. I would have loved the chance to be a professional footballer and to have been at United would have been the best life could offer. Rooney needs to take a long hard look at himself and hopefully for his sake figure out what a great life he should have.

5.) Personality I would perfer Rooney to go, £40m you can have him.

I would love a swap deal thou Rooney/Nani for C. Ronaldo but can't see it happening

Richmond

6.) Utd should tell him the price is 35-40 million, if some club is stupid enough to pay it then fine, if not tell him the reserves are training on another pitch and he's no longer part of first team squad. his sponsors will soon get fed up of him not playing

7.) Just like SAF said, he's upset about being taken off a few times but a Wayne Rooney on top form would not get taken off! So true but you think of Wayne's poor immature narrow minded attitude with it all I now couldn't care less if he left.

Infact offer him to spurs with £10m for Gareth Bale! He wouldn't be dangerous playing for spurs as he'd have even less motivation than he does now at one of the top clubs in the world.

Ozwald

8.) Do us all a favour rooney and head off to spain or france, i'm sure there are hair resteration clinics in either of those countries.

9.) Maybe Rooney's reaction is due to a player who last season scored 34 goals (second time he's done that) being shuffled around and seemingly not given much of a chance this season. How would you feel if you were him?

Interesting comment from Roy Keane, saying that United's inactivity in the transfer market over the last three years has now caught up with them, huge respect for Roy but I wish he would pay attention! we didn't buy because "there was no value in the market!" I am surprised he missed that comment, it must have been repeated several times!

cheetham lad

1.) That no value in the market comment just gets even better when you look at the players we could have easily got, for example hazard, even if he was a few million more (for agent fees) than what we wanted to pay, players like him come around once in a blue moon and will more than likely be worth double what they paid for him in 2-3 years

2.) Keane definitely has a point. We've stood still transfer-wise for a few years and Moyes has been left with a mess to sort out. But he's already been £65mill and can't get results with what we have. It's no title challenging squad, but it should definitely be a top 4 squad.

3.) Red sky moyes has spent 65 million agreed?!. But how many games did fellaini play? Due to his lack of fitness and injuries
barely.what 5
He impressed me in one game against everton playing midfield but his lack of fitness showed when he ran out of steam by 70mins Atleast let him get back to full fit ness?

4.) Vidal - 14m
Hernanes - 15 then 20m
Cabaye - 4m
Sneijder - multiple values
Witsel - multiple moves
Dembele, Ericsson, gungoden, Martinez etc etc etc hundreds of cmers capable of having improved this cm at some point along the line yet never mind we have scholes and giggs to come in and plug the obvious gaps and instead make spending 30-40m a time nesecary just to keep in touch with the rest!

I said it was a joke back then and we can all see that now!

5.) Die ReD

Speaking with any common sense at this time is prohibited and punishable by the DOOM brigade. They will send you to the gallows be careful and call you names :)

6.) Die red/GCU

Fellaini might still come good. Might. I'm not done with him yet.
Even if he does, we still need a CM player and a world-class one at that. Or haven't you seen how sluggish Carrick/Fletcher/Cleverly have been this season?

7.) Die Red, we don't deal on here with facts like how many appearances a player has made.

We deal in gut feelings, deliberately misinterpreted quotes, tabloid rumours, and our own player/manager prejudices presented as facts.

Please bear that in mind for future posts. That's two sensible posts you've made on here in the space of a few days. Don't let there be a third.

8.) StevieK

"Fellaini might still come good. Might. I'm not done with him yet.
Even if he does, we still need a CM player and a world-class one at that."

There's a fact for you mate.
Even the great David Moyes has confirmed this fact by actively scouting Vidal, Kroos and others.

You don't deal in prejudices? Course you do, felzy.

Every single post you make is a passive-aggressive, sarcastic stab at fellow Utd fans who don't see things as rosily as you. You can't resist it, every single new thread seems to include a sarcastic comment from yourself having veiled digs at fellow posters. You're as prejudiced against 'negative' fans as those fans are against Moyes.

9.) What's new about it red sky?.
even if fellaini turns out to be the best player ever. we need a creative midfielder or a box to box one as our interest in kroos and Vidal gundogan Herrera koke etc shows
its sad really sad that we don't give chances rather judge a player even before he had a.chance to show his mettle

10.) RED_SKY, before you get your knickers in a twist, and go off on one - I was referring to Die Red's comment about Fellaini playing 5 games as a rare fact on this site, not your comment about him coming good. It wasn't even related to your comment. That aecond post of yours hadn't even appeared when I posted.

Is that ok?

I don't see everything, 'rosily', as I've pointed out several times my doubts about Moyes. But any comments I make, are only a spit in the wind against the tide of unending, constant criticism that seems to pervade this site.

If people who are willing to give the manager a chance, are constantly mocked as 'head in the sand' dreamers, and held up to ridicule by the mob for having the temerity not to jump on their bandwagon, then I do feel I'm allowed to hit back, and often sarcasm is the only way to argue with some of the unrealistic, unfounded hysteria that gets on here.

And I can assure you, if you read this site, or at least Danny's posts, that sarcasm is not the sole preserve of myself - 'even the great David Moyes', ring a bell?

I love this site, and I also love the differing opinions on what has gone wrong this season, all feasible honest opinions, I myself have my reasons as to why we are in the position we are, but! the bottom line is David Moyes is the manager of Manchester United and as such will get my full support, ok this squad won the premiership last season, that is history, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool, are better than they were last season! we have several players, some by virtue of age, some by lack of the talent needed at this level, who need to be moved on, Sir Alex Ferguson did an unbelievable job for this club and now he has gone, David Moyes I feel was very brave to take the job and I applaud him for that, he has identified what the team needs to challenge again and I am sure will address this in the summer, judge the man on his signings not on his inheritance! as for the so called report that several players want to leave, let them! in two days time we will be remembering lads who were honoured and proud to wear the shirt, I may be old fashioned but is it not still an honour and privilege to play for Manchester United!

cheetham lad

1.) Very good post all sounds good to me

2.) Very good post cheetham. We would love Moyes to succeed and of course some of us have different opinions. But as long as we can get this club where it belongs and the team playing attractive, exciting football, then we will all be happy!
You are right if there are any over here who are not fully committed, then the door is open. The club has to get people who are willing to give all for the cause, this applies from the dinner lady to the players and manager.

3.) We have not stagnated whilst everyone else have improved Cheetham, we have gotten worse whilst everyone else have improved. I don't care about the other clubs, we are talking about why MU have gotten worse with the exact same players plus Adnan, Fellaini and a fitter Rooney.

I do not think it's physical, I think it's mental. I do not believe the players have adapted well to the manager transition. I believe if SAF or someone like Jose was in charge of us, we would be doing much better. Not because we would have better players, but because the players will be more confident.

I am not saying we should be winning the league, but we should be playing better. Why aren't we playing better?

4.) Ditto. Good, sensible post, mate.

5.) Agree with the whole post Cheetham, and you are correct, if a player doesn't want to here then they can go, whether it be Evra, Nani, Rooney, RVP or whoever. If they don't have the fight and desire to get us back where we need to be then they shouldn't be here. I don't think we'd be much better of with Mourinho personally. We may have a couple more points but the football would be as bad. let's face it, for two and a half years the standard we have played has been pretty pathetic, most of the time and only a good overhaul will sort that out.

Ok so the jury is still out (just) on Fellaini, David Moyes has now been in the job long enough to have formed an opinion about the players he inherited, those players over achieved to some tune last season, however in the cold light of day some of them have been found wanting, Juan Mata is a class act and surprise, surprise, he wanted to join us! Paul Pogba is also apparently making encouraging noises about his former club, I feel there are more surprises to come, let's give the manager a break and judge him on what he does not on what he inherited, we need specialist players in specialist positions in order to regain the balance required to challenge for the premiership and in Europe, all right David Moyes is not everyones idea of a Manchester United Manager, but let's judge him fairly, and that means giving him the time to prove that he is the right choice!

cheetham lad

1.) Interestingly enough, it was the team, rather than most of the players, that over-performed last season.

2.) Fellaini will come good for us.

In reply to AJH re my earlier post, believe me I remember the 70s, however my point is we profess to be the best but try and be the best by not spending too much money! with the calibre of players we had in the 70s expectations were not high, in recent years United raised the bar, I repeat there are several players in the squad at present who quite simply are not good enough! the lack of class in certain positions can sometimes be glossed over by others ie Van Persie last season, and Rooney this, pulling off rescue acts, we see the consequences when those two are missing, I make no apologies for saying what I do, I have earned the right to speak out as a supporter, David Moyes is the Manager and as long as he is I will support him, but the facts speak for themselves, if the players have anything about them they will go out onto the pitch against Sunderland and earn their wages but more importantly remember who they are playing for!

No ifs, no buts, no maybe's, we have been linked to several players recently, scouting trips are fine as long as there is a signing at the end of the comings and goings! and please, please, do not come out with the old Fergie chestnut, "no value in the market!" I have watched United for over fifty years and the current crop of players apart from the obvious (too obvious to mention) are among the most ordinary we have ever had at the club!

cheetham lad

1.) Utter nonsense, remember the 70's and 80's?

{Ed002's Note - If you remember the 70s you weren't there.}

2.) We do not need value. At the moment we need word class players. Whether we pay over the odds for them or not is irrelevant.

3.) I was born late 80's does that count?

4.) AJH

the 80's under Ron wer far better than the 2013's under moyes. 2 FA Cups. and several top 4 finishes.

If its the SAF 80's you may have a point.

5.) Treble1999, how can you compare "the 80's and 2013"? But I suppose you are right, Moyes is rubbish. Any decent manager would have secured 2 FA Cups and several top 4 finished in 6 months.

6.) Betty

Save your energy mate, some of the guys are so hard core there is no talking sense to them.

7.) {Ed002's Note - If you remember the 70s you weren't there.}
That's the problem Ed. A lot of us were young and do remember it. An FA cup team who could not get near the first place. Christ with this weekend coming up we're no longer even that good. give me five Remi Moses in our present midfield any day of the week ( I know he just missed the 70's!)

8.) I'd take coppell over nani and Valencia to be fair

Well said! agree with every word, no amount of demanding will get success, spotlight shifts directly on to Moyes, will he sign the right players? but perhaps more to the point do the Glazers trust him enough to allow him to do so!

Thank you lfc, might I also point out for those unaware of it, that Liverpool Football Club were the first to offer support in terms of loan players, in the aftermath of the disaster.

Hear! Hear!, play him not him, sign him not him, sack Moyes, give him a chance, if it isn't about opinions then try reading the posts on this site! fact is David Moyes is Manager of Manchester United, and like all Managers in any job needs time to do things his way, painful I know but true, I really do feel sorry for him, some players are letting him down, come the summer the clearer!

Goldboy, if you pardon the pun you are "spot on" pressure is part of being a Manchester United player but! missing four out of five penalties is terrible! (if the staff at OT are still looking for Welbecks effort try the car park opposite the ground!)
