Call me mad, but there is a possibility that Jose deliberately wants to sell us Mata.

1)We get Mata, we come stronger and and possibly even beat Arsenal & Man City, Chelsea's title challengers. Hence, Jose could go win the PL.
We can't have any direct clash with Chelsea, with Champions League being the only possibility where Mata would be cup-tied.
2)Probably it's a sweetner for the Rooney deal in the summer.
3)Lot of money for a player.

rohan8

1.) These reasons have been mentioned by just about every journalist ever.

2.) This has been said many a time, old news. IMO I'm sure Mourinho wouldn't sell on a short term plan however, because there will be many seasons following this season where Mata could help influence our title challenge. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm sure Jose wouldn't sell only based on this season. Yet on the flip side, if they won the league, it would only influence more players to join them in the summer. The Rooney point is interesting, surely if that was the case though Jose would want re-assurances from the player himself that he would be prepared to move to Chelsea, and that alone provides many obsticles i.e. current players talking of playing for other teams, United allowing such talks to be held etc

3.) Thing is, rooney can buy out of his contract in the summer so it can't of been part of any deal he is free to go where he wants

Who all do you see leaving OT next season?

Vidic, Evra, Buttner, Nani, Anderson, Young, RVP, Hernandez, Kagawa.

rohan8

{Ed004's Note - Rio, Vidic, Evra, Anderson, Nani and Giggs IMO are all gone then maybe one or two of RVP, Kagawa, Rafael and Hernandez though I hope last 4 all stay}

1.) I think Rio, Evra, Vidic, Anderson, Nani, Giggs, Kagawa & Hernandez will leave, obviously much depends on whether we can agree a deal for them. Nani has been for sale for years and he's still here.

2.) I think it's possible we could sell Buttner and Ev. Buy a RB, LB and use Rafael as back-up for both positions. Obviously Vidic and Ferdinand will leave. I think we will need an experienced CB to go straight into the fold. Perhaps if Song was one of two midfield signings for us this summer, he could be back-up CB, as can Carrick, as can Fellaini according to him. We clearly need a busybody in midfield, someone like Cleverley but much better and with a better goals ratio. For me we need one more attacking winger/forward who can go straight into the team. Adnan will need to be used carefully over the next few seasons. So a RB, LB, CB, CM & FW. I think we will need a young, potentially good CB too, or a midfielder like Song, someone who can play as a CB if asked but also play midfield. That's the six signings I think we need. However IMO five need to be top notch.

3.) Vidic, Evra, Rio, Anderson Giggs, are gone Nani, RvP Hernandez, and hopefully not but he may want to move Kagawa all of these will probably be leaving, I would prefer RvP and Kags to stay but think the writing is on the wall I would like us to invest in young players that have experience of first team football I think a summer of Granit Xhaka to partner Felliani Ricardo Rodrigues for left back, a top class young center half like Mangala and I said it all last summer and think it could now be on the cards Bale for the left wing with RvP going the other way we could then put Wayne up top with Mata Bale and Januzaj behind him would be great also I don't think we need a central midfielder who will get us goals we need some one to win the ball and give it to our players that can score Xhaka is a really good ball winner and he and the Wig could beat up the opposition and let Mata and co run riot

We have about 15-20 players out on loan in various leagues along with Jesse Lingard & Michael Keane who are with us currently.

Who among all those are good enough to be in our squad in the near future?
Anyone who follows the academy please answer.

rohan8

1.) Powell, Lingard, both Keanes definitely.

Maybe Thorpe or a couple of others have a chance.

2.) Also ekangamene will be in time.

3.) From the academy, Goss, Wilson and Pereira stand out.

Reserves, I see Lingard and Keane becoming squad players, a la Cleverey. But all of the other need a loan to prove themselves.

4.) I also thought larnell cole had the potential to play for the first team shame we have let him go as he was ace last season when we won u21 title. Also like the look of Henriquez and from what I've seen of Varela it looks like he would be the perfect understudy for rafeal in the near future

Does anyone here have any idea what position does Kroos play?
Does he play as No. 10 or can play alongside fletcher in the middle.
Thanks.

rohan8

1.) I'm sure when he started he was a deeper lying mid but BM had been playing him in a more advanced position in front of Swienstiger and Martinez.

Not watched that much Bundersliga this year.

2.) He plays the advanced midfield role like Iniesta does, given that the midfield gets run over as it is, adding another advanced mid won't do any good

How could we overturn this 2-0 deficit?
I'd personally sub Evra. Play rafael at LB.
Shift Jones to RB. Fletcher in the middle.
And Hernandez for Young.

rohan8

1.) Just waiting fletch to come on,
Actually he brought smalling on instead but I think your way could have worked better than the way he's done it as jones is a better defender.

It seems we'd never sign a quality CM inspite of losing all the games this year.

None of Koke, Vidal, Kroos would join us, Why would they, we are no longer league leaders and wouldn't pay ridiculous sums like PSG or Monaco.

It would be more sensible to either play Powell in CM, or buy any average CM to atleast help make us to the top 4.

Darren Gibson was a far better player than Cleverley is. Even Stoke's bench warmer Glen Whelan or Sunderland's Craig Gardner are improvements to Cleverley, Anderson, Giggs.

Suggestions:
1)Cattermole- Good DM, decent passer, lacks discipline and far better than Cleverley or Giggs.
2)Borja Valero- He has been brilliant for Fiorentina & Villareal and I feel Fiorentina won't make it to Champions League.
3)Huddlestone
4)Jedinak
5)Schneiderlin

Ours midfield is the one of the poorest among the PL.

rohan8

1.) I am getting a bit confused as to why people think we can't get players because we are 'no longer league leaders'. It just seems like another way of people being negative to me.

If you honestly think Lee Cattermole would improve us I give up.

2.) Rohan8 - you have had a shocker their mate.
Your actually saying that Glen Whelan and Craig Gardner are better thancleverly, anderson and Giggs. that is ridiculous, their is a reason why they play for Stoke and Sunderland. work it out.
And one or two of your suggestions for buying players is quite simply disturbing, Lee Cattemole. are you serious?

3.) 09 Jan 2014 13:31:01
GDS2.
Many reasons,
1.Understmiating the other clubs in transfer dealings.
2. Most players are being lined up or watched by some Top clubs around the league.
3. Poor league standings
4. A amanger who hasn't even had a full cycle in the CL in almost 10 years.

4.) Oh but haven't you seen their stats in Football Manager ;)

5.) Rohan, you answered your own question. You mentioned we won't pay ridiculous sums for the top midfielders.
Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, these sums are being paid by the other ambitious clubs. Supply and demand I'm afraid. We can either invest in the team by buying the best and paying top prices, or we can carry on along the same path as we have been doing for the past few years of buying average players, rvp excluded of course.
Just loom at how much investment has gone into city, PSG, Monaco, bayern, Real, barca and you realise that we are simply not competing.

I'd love to see Moyes sacked.
It's frustrating to see what is happening.
A manager needs luck to be successful, he has none.
He dropped arguably out best player in Januzaj.
If you look closely most of the matches we lost, it was because we played players out of position.
Fletcher should've played in the centre.
Thank god we have Michael Keane with us given the defensive injuries we have had
