Well then, where to start?

I think I'll start by giving kudos to Mr Sofyan Amrabat - he was a machine tonight. I wonder if he arrived with an injury because, in the last couple of games, he's been like a different player.
He's almost like the type of player Mainoo needs.
If today's Amrabat is the standard of the player in the PL, then I'd keep him as backup.

Next, Casemiro. He has rightly got plenty of flak recently, simply because some of his mistakes have been daft. Today, despite one or two hospital passes, he actually grew into the game at CB.

Amad man, this lad is awesome and is certainly proving his doubters wrong - if United sell him then I'll be fuming.
It wasn't so long ago that some were ruing the lack of effort to get Kudus - Amad is better.
Antony must know now that he can't lace Amad's boots, surely the decision makers know that too.

Mainoo - what superlatives are left? There was one phase of play tonight where the flight of the ball drew him into a Geordie sandwich and he just slalomed through them and then skinned another opponent on his way towards the box. The composure of this guy is truly exceptional - we really are blessed to be seeing a real generational talent.

Onana again pulled off some outrageous saves tonight that even Schmeichel would be proud of.
I know he can make the bum rather squeaky, but that's more to do with his defence.

Bruno turned up as a captain today and I saw the return of that glare he had when he arrived - he certainly shut me up.

Wan-Bissaka obviously knows he's going, he had soggy cheeks. While I'm sure he's a decent lad, he is not of the required standard.

Nice to see Varane show up with a smile for the fans, but Martial still looked like a mardy tool - great respect for the former, but the latter can, frankly, p*** off.

Finally, Erik.
I read his speech as partly a stern counter for the recent suggestions that some players have been hiding, but also as a show of acceptance that he might not appear in the home dugout at OT again.
I really did not like his clumsy and pretty pathetic manner in seeking to avoid any acknowledgement of Shteve at the final whistle.
One of them will be going, I know which I'd choose.

I enjoyed the game. Amad was good to watch and the shape was a lot better and have us a foothold in the game which allowed us to compete. All with the same players missing. Makes you wonder what we were doing playing like we have for last 6 months.

16 May 2024 08:21:58
I liked his speech with the cup final to come i thought it was appropriate.

16 May 2024 10:03:33
What happened with Steve Ork? I must’ve missed it.

12 May 2024 21:00:29
If Casemiro starts the cup final then haaland will score a hat trick easy. Shocking on Monday and poor today. Granted he's not a cb but he's been awful everywhere he's played this season. A great player but Father Time knows no mercy and the clocks ran out on him in competitive football.

Thought he was absolutely fine today, not sure he did a lot wrong and Arsenal didn’t really create a lot.

13 May 2024 06:26:47
Well he was one of the 3 players at fault for the goal.

14 May 2024 18:43:17
Hopefully Varane will be fit and martinez too. What's happened to lindelof, he has been out a long time.

16 May 2024 09:32:47
I honestly don't understand why Kwambala hasn't played for the last two games, it's madness.

12 May 2024 20:33:03
Very lethargic by Casemiro not getting out of defense and thus playing Arsenal onside for their goal. I know he's not a defender, but surely, after an incredibly successful decade + as a professional footballer, he should be knowledgeable enough to do the basics. Other than that it was a better than expected performance, even though we scarcely troubled the Arsenal defense. Many of us were expecting a trouncing given last week's performance.

Amad looks like he is way more skillful and a better footballer all round than Antony.

I thought amad did himself no harm at all yesterday Shaw.
I'd like to see him play a few games on the bounce he spent a lot of time on the floor yesterday. The rough n tumble of the epl is not for everybody and he needs to price he can deal with it flourish. No doubting his tekkers but as we know the epl is not often the best place to showcase those skills.
I'd like to see him keep his place for the next couple of games to see if he can get a start in the cup final.

Not impressed with Tuchel taking off Kane when he did. Nobody could have foreseen Madrid scoring two such late goals but one was always a possibility and then Bayern would have needed Lanes experience to fight back.

agree and posted something similar. 30 minutes of extra time with the changes he made was going to make sure only one winner. He rolled the dice and went uber defensive and did not work. it Happens and does not make him a bad manager. its his personality that worries me the most and his preference for older ready made players.

pretty sure the new management will look to rebuild with a younger/ high potential players that will make mistakes and need time and Tuchel does not strike me as a guy, who is going to build a young team and bring them through.

Eth has spent circa 400m in his time at united.
How much of that spend was on the pitch last night?

Agree1 Disagree0

07 May 2024 18:19:37
Give it a rest .

08 May 2024 06:03:46
net spend of 300 and less than spurs, city, arsenal and pretty close to Liverpool. Go to transfermarkt and look at the numbers at least.

The real question if you are an adult is who started with a better squad from all the top teams two years ago and what have they spend on improving it comparative to United.

After all it was a team that needed open heart surgery according to someone. Is our spend as outlandish as you like to make it out.

Most of the players you hate and don't rate are still here. Undoing years of poor decisions takes a few years and not fixable in one or two windows.

08 May 2024 10:06:21
I don't hate any player ahmad.
Exactly my point 9 of that team were eth players. That's open heart surgery
Only 2 players from before eth
That's is the effect of his surgery.
An adult can see that and one that understands football.

08 May 2024 12:23:16
Ahmad look at the question how much of the 400m that eth spent was on the pitch for that game?
This is the result of eths spend out on the pitch.
I think martinez was missing from his buys.
He bought the keeper
Bought both cbs (albeit one is a cm)
2 midfielders and promoted the other
Bought 2 attackers promoted the other.
This is his team bar the 2 full backs.
So what have Liverpool or spurs got to do with it.
His players his vision his tactics.
Net spend 300m has nothing to do with it. These are the playersceth has chosen to lead our future.

Well that was embarrassing, I'm sure the manager will get most of the stick but boy has casemiro gone down hill so quickly. He needs to be one of the 1st out the door in the summer, may aswell have put steve mclaren in the starting line up.

Put Shteve in charge now for me.

06 May 2024 22:47:25
Only thing I would say Danny is,

Where’s the cbs from the u18s and u21s

Rather than play casimiro there put an actual cb there?

But casimiro today was awful his worst performance in a red shirt

A lot of players needs replacing but even that will take time.

07 May 2024 11:25:16
Jackson on the bench yesterday, Ogunneye also played there at times was on the bench.

07 May 2024 12:14:04
I have to say that, although Olise is a quality player in excellent form, it was alarming to see Casemiro get skinned so easily.

I know there will be the odd apologist, but for any player with his level of experience to be done so easily is not a good look - and being played at CB is not an acceptable excuse.

That one moment sums up our season.
We have occasionally looked dressed for the party, but we have a habit of forgetting our knickers.

Looking forward to seeing Mount in the 10 role, hopefully he can show his abilities.

Sancho playing a bliinder for Dortmund tonight - probably MOTM - in the semi final of the champions league
Genuine question- manager or player? Why didn’t it work out at United?

03 May 2024 14:39:54
If you watch the pl the marking is so tight vs a champions league match and you get time to recieve a pass and have some space.

In the pl you are getting bumped half the time you are about to receive a pass in the advance positions and that where I think sancho struggles. A lot tighter and more physical and lot less space to operate.

03 May 2024 23:34:25
Epl is a different animal. Like a different sport. It's just not for everybody.
Recruitment into the epl is so difficult.

06 May 2024 12:51:06
Player, he's got bags of talent, but he doesn't have the mentality to be an elite footballer.

He doesn't have the discipline or drive to do the hard work. He won't keep to a healthy schedule, get enough sleep, eat the right things, train the right way and put in the effort all the time, not just when the stars align.

In Dortmund they allow him enough rope to be comfortable, he is the big fish, and that suits his mentality/ ego. Dortmund also play a style that suits his game, they press high and as such the distance to goal when he receives the ball is much shorter, he has more players around him to play passes off of and his lack of pace and power are not so exposed.

In the EPL and at United his lack of pace and power meant he wasn't able to make space for himself. While United's deeper transitional style of play meant he had to make up an extra 10-20 yards when he receives the ball, which without blistering pace meant he'd often get caught.

Instead of rising to the challenge at United, training to improve his pace and power, learning to adapt his game to those around him and the league he was in, he instead sulked and licked his wounds. He couldn't handle the pressure, he couldn't handle the criticism.

EtH tried his best to support him, he sent him away to train with people in the Netherlands, got him a psychiatrist to help him improve his mentality and develop some resilience.

He then came back and was improved for a month or so before slipping back into bad habits. He was unable to force his way back into the team as he wasn't even meeting the minimal standards in training.

EtH then tried the harder approach to try and get him on the right track after the softly softly approach hadn't worked.

Sancho's reaction was to throw his toys out the pram and create a massive drama. He then refused to accept any responsibility for his actions and apologise for them.

The manager was left with little choice but to cut him loose and limit his negative effect on the squad.

Southgate with England was quick to pick up on Sancho's negative impact and lack of drive and professionalism and as such just stopped selecting him for England. So it's not just EtH who has seen these issues.

Ole and Rangnick also saw and tried a few different things to get Sancho training and playing as he should to no avail.

No doubt Pep also saw it, which is why he didn't give him the chances that someone like Foden got.

The lad simply doesn't have the mentality to be an elite footballer despite having the talent. United need to cut him loose and sell him as soon as possible regardless of who is the manager next season.

Right it off as a bad signing and learn the lesson that we need to scout the players mentality/ personality just as much as their talent.

06 May 2024 17:09:28
Why didn't it work for Kagawa or Mhki at utd either?

01 May 2024 21:38:34
You can see why ETH wanted to get Sancho out of the club.

Joking aside. How does a good player leave a club, become a bad player, and then go back to original club to become a good player again? Frame it however you want. It’s not a good look for ETH’s man management skills and will surely be noticed by Wilcox.

He’s been outstanding tonight against PSG.

If he can get Sancho to play so well maybe we should get the Dortmund manager in to replace ETH and energise a few other players too!
