Few reports about now saying Brentford now want 70 million because of all the messing about United have been doing.

About time utd just tell them to get stuffed. Seriously, this is even worse than a shambles. brought these lot in and they're absolutely feckin useless.

Not sure what's gone on only they know but it doesn't look very good or professional does it.
This has dragged on now for over 40 days and we still don't have a conclusion and it now sounds like we are further away than when we first started negotiating.
Absolute shambles of a club from top to bottom.

I take it you mean Brentford? I don’t think it’s us putting the price up.

About rite sim. just how longer can this actually go on for? New people come in, and it gets worse. It will never happen but if it got the club back to proper owners and people who actually cared, relegation looks like the only way this club is sorted. It's so badly ran by shear utter cretins its frightening.

We have a valuation, Brentford have a valuation, it’s understandable after over paying for a number of our players that we are hyper cautious.
It seems like the board are prepared to hold fire and see if Brentford move. I’m sure we have another target lined up should this one fail.
What is worse is to get bent over by Brentford, then it just tells other clubs we can be taken advantage of still. Yes we would like the player, but not at any cost.
Sometimes as supporters we just have to be patient.
What is more important this summer is getting rid of those five players, that is the bigger concern.

I wouldn't walk away from the deal, but I'd be putting it on the back burner until later in the window.
Maybe make Brentford sweat a little, keeping the player now he's unsettled is not ideal for them.
While they have an option to extend his contract by another year, they can't just do so to sell him next summer without doing a deal with him personally to avoid profiteering issues.
This year is the last chance to sell him for a large fee without getting him to sign a new long term deal first.
We have other players in other positions that we need to address.
Mbeumo would be a great signing, but if we didn't sign him then we can still play Cunha, Bruno, Amad, Mount and Zirkzee in the two positions wide of the striker. Hardly awful options.
We still need to reinforce the midfield, in goal and the obvious gaping hole at CF.
Maybe focus on brining in players in those positions, then go back in for Mbeumo later in the summer, or if Brentford won't budge then look at an alternative option.

Brentford will not want to lose their best players and it's not easy to replace strikers. The 65m they get for Mbweumo would be not worth it if they get relegated.

I think this is the silly thing, Shappy.
One of the reasons Amorim likes Mbeumo is because he acts like a genuine pro. He wants to move, but is not the type of player to throw a strop if it doesn’t happen. He will keep his head down and get on with things, like he already has with pre-season training.
For me, this is the case of United dawdling over a player that Brentford don’t need to sell, the longer things go on, the less likely the signing becomes because Brentford won’t want to be rushing to bring in a replacement.
United should have made a decision last month, and either paid what Brentford were asking, or moved on to a different option. Amateur hour as usual.

Brentford now want 70m plus add ons. yep that's happening. not! Gone from 50 to 60 to 65 to 70m. seriously get stuffed.

If the rumour of the price going up is true, walk away, no matter the impact. We have to build an entire squad over the next 3 years and get rid of overpaid players who have the talent but a rubbish attitude to their own career and the club.
Take the pain now, set your stall out you won't be mugged off, lose one player you want to gain respect and a new identity of not being ripped off, that over 3 years on several deals is worth a new player in saved excessive price jumps alone.

Go and get Eze from palace instead. He’s cheaper. Not the same type of player but has proven he can play in a similar system, in a similar position, and in the premier league.

Utd should buy Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich instead of Mbeumo.

17 Jul 2025 02:35:06
Hmm. The media narrative is always biased to make Utd look incompetent. for all we know the deal has been slow because Brentford kept changing the ask/ shopped around with Spurs/ anything else.
As such, not sure if this is the club being a shambles without knowing the full picture. but I'd be more than happy if the club publicly (and that's important) walked away from the deal.

None of us know the real reasons for this hold up, but it certainly should not be holding up other incomings and outs, lots of work to do and would like to think other pieces of the jigsaw are being put in place, surely we are doing that!
If Mbeumo comes off it does, if it don’t it don’t
Not even our bunch are just sitting there waiting for the phone to ring about Mbuemo before they tackle next task.
Seems we are always involved in one of these will he join or not scenarios can’t just be coincidence, the press love to make a story and united love to feed it.

All I’ll say is why have we not moved on to other targets? Over 6 weeks now and counting and with other areas of the pitch that also urgently need improving what exactly are we waiting for?
This reeks of incompetence yet again, or we’ve got no money which then begs the question why did Ineos choose to work with the Glazer’s?

More the question why did Glazers bother with Ineos!
