Will never win nothing with AWB as regular
Sancho looks very poor, early days but shown nothing
VDB year later admitted not many mins but again shows nothing to be worthy of starting place.

Before everyone jumps on what a great defender AWB is. lucking he can time a sliding tackle because he always out of position, that don't make him a good defender, going forward he is diabolical, slows up play something chronic, as to try control every ball then stop then look around then pass and that's always backwards. Never ever is he a Top full back.

awb is the best defensive full back in the prem, he does more than just times his slide tackle,

going forward is his weakness but come on he is a good player a little over the top to says its on awb to not win anything.

sancho will need a season to adapt, look at werner, haverts etc, the kid is only 21, he just needs a run in the team and some confidence, have no worrys with sancho.

Sancho only been here 5 minutes. Get him on the right and let him do his thing and he will be a great player for us.

As it stands he is number 1 as a defensive full back. However there is no getting away from 2 bad decisions in the last 2 games.

I think it's a credit to how good this squad is now that after midfield it is AWB at RB that then looks the weakest position.

Don't get me wrong, I think AWB is a good player and a player with great potential. Currently however he is a good player with clear and obvious limitations to his game.

Those limitations might be acceptable at a mid table side, but at a top side aiming to win titles you can't be a full back who is poor going forward.

The year he signed for us he was one of our best players, but now the rest of the squad seems to have been improved/ stepped up. Yet AWB has stayed the same.

If we bought two world class midfielders to replace McFred then you'd look at our side and think AWB was the weak link.

The player he took out wasn’t the one given offside, and the tackle took place during live play before the offside was given. The offside incident isn’t the main issue it’s his lack of positioning that causes him to dive in so much. It’s worked for him in the past but as has been proven you only have to be a second late for it to be a foul.

Again i find it a bit strange because I think yesterday Bissaka was good going forward. I think he was better than Shaw.

The problem lies with management.

AWB is never going to great going forward. By allowing him to focus on defence, you can afford to play a more attack minded midfielder on the right. I assumed that the whole point of buying Sancho was to have someone to provide width on the right. But we’re still playing narrow up top, relying on the fbs for all our width.

I don’t see why a midfield of McTominay and Pogba can’t work if you play McT as the holding player on the left and give Pogba freedom on the right with AWB not pushing forward as much.

Herrera, both Shaw and AWB had one shot an both got their shot on target. Shaw however had a match high 5 "key passes" (a key pass is a pass that leads to a shot) . AWB had none.

I thought AWB showed more forward intent in the game, but the reality is that for all that intent he didn't actually create anything that lead to a real chance.

I think you're right there, Danny. Ed001 said something similar about him still playing as he would under Hodgson.

I think that's the way we play rather Shaw being so much better than Bissaka. Shaw hasn't being great for me no matter the stats and the key passes. Bissaka made some good combinations with Meison and tried to attack at pace something Shaw doesn't. Don't get me wrong he is quick and that's not what i mean. I mean he sometimes takes many controls and slows the play.

Herrera, not sure what games you've been watching but 9/ 10 times AWB either runs into a player, fails to run onto a knock on, or turns/ passes back. Shaw gets into spaces to cross, is able to find a pass inside and can get into the box. Huge difference between the two players.

It was shaw's excellent throughball that ronny scored through keepers legs.

Obe wan has been working in his attacking I think. He has proved to be very effective against some good attackers as well. He had a goal line clearance against southampton I think.

This team looks good to me. Beauty of the transfer window is we have got what we've got now. Hopefully they can gel and develop their play together and we will start banging them in all over the place. We look like we have goals in us to me. Still have cavani and rash to come back - freightening really.

Wes Brown wasn't the greatest at getting forward, but was very solid defensively and was a pillar of the 2008 squad. The issue is finding the right balance in front of AWB to cover his deficiencies. Sancho should be that, a player who can receive the ball and stay out wide.

Ludwig the game has changed since then. He needs to bomb on to offer the overlap. Sancho isn't the type of winger to stay wide. Hence why our RB needs to be able to keep his width. AWB so far cannot, he turns back, runs into trouble or misplaces a pass. Time to give dalot a run.

Any winger with AWB behind him at RB will struggle. The guy is probably the best slide tackler I've ever seen, but he is very poor on the ball. A winger needs a good FB overlapping with him, otherwise he is always 1 v 2 and looks ineffective.
