According to some reports pogba wants to sign the 400k a week deal on offer from united. Not sure how I'm supposed to feel about that to be honest. Think it's best he goes but it's looking less likely at the minute.

On a side note I see the glazers sold 9.5m shares and raked in 137m on them, up 15.7m since ronnies return. Maximising their own income as usual I see. Good business for them but as always, when they do something (sign Ronaldo) it's usually done to benefit themselves. They are selling now when the value is at a peak, if results are bad over the next month those figures will drop dramatically. They really aren't a bit slow.

He will leave on a free.

Gets to go to Real Madrid with a bumper pay packet fir him and Minio, plus join Camavinga and probably Mbappe and Garland.

Don’t blame him - why wouldn’t you?

He might hang on 6 months and go to Newcastle for 700k per week.

No doubt all the football authorities and the fans -especially the fans- who castigated the "big six" over the Super league (quite rightly) proposals will be turning a blind eye to new foreign owners with links to let's say unsavoury behaviour.

I agree that pogba should go, and Madrid makes sense. If he stays I can only see it being motivated by money.

As for the Newcastle takeover, I see amnesty international are calling for a change to the fit and proper persons test. Newcastle fans will riot if the goalposts are moved again, they already think the other clubs have a pick on them. Seems like it doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, as long as you have money.

I'd let him off, even it means he walks away on a free.

We;re better off without him.

Would a better Manager get more out of him? I really don’t know. He showed real potential in his first year but Jose fell out with him. He’s shown flashes under Ole but not delivered consistently. Is it the formation, is there a better way of playing him as clearly he is a very talented boy?

The grapevine says he’s popular, works hard, but the issue we have seen is lack of consistency. It’s very frustrating as he should be up there with the best and yet he disappoints too often for United.

Also, £400K a week is likely to cause issues with other players but nothing new there I guess.

Talented player no doubt, but I don't think he's worth the trouble.

From everyone around the club he's a popular, hard working lad. But I just don't know where or how he fits into our team. I've often seen him described best as a "Mezzala" which I suppose is something close to a "free 8". In that he needs to be free to drop deep to collect the ball and find space, but at the same time free to move into the final third.

The problem is that to do that you kind of need to set up your team around that. You can't play with a No.10 as they would often find themselves in the same areas during an attack, while the lack of defensive cover also causes problems.

Pep found a system that worked with two free 8's, but to make it work he required the wide forwards to stay wide and the full backs to tuck in along side the CDM to make a narrow three in front of the CB's with the width coming from the wide forwards.

The problem for us is we don't have the players to replicate such a system.

Realistically the best way to fit Pogba in the line up is to play him instead of Bruno, or to try and crowbar him in wide left. He isn't defensively diligent enough to play as one of the two in the double pivot.

Our side has evolved away from needing Pogba, as such there is no natural place for him in the starting 11 other than instead of Bruno. Which doesn't make any sense.

So giving him a huge contract to continue to be a problem or a bit part player seems stupid. Which makes me very confident that we will do it. The club would rather make a rod for their own back than have egg on their face if Pogba were to leave for free.

Personally I would rip the midfield up and start again (apart from Fernandes) amd for that money let him go. However, if he stays it should be on the basis that we get the right player to play in with him and Fernandes otherwise what is the point. if that is the young French lad or the AC Milan chap I don't actually care. just build the midfield around those 2 and get the best player in to make up the 3.
Then have McTominy and others as subs or rotational pieces.

AJH, I think Pogba is one of the most gifted players I have ever seen at the club during my lifetime. He's got everything you would want, he is athletic and phenomenal vision and technique. I just don't think he has it in him to really roll the sleeves up and do the dirty work, the stuff that doesn't get you in the headlines. It may be a mistake to renew, and I think if he does it is because he won't have the options to him that he expected perhaps?

Since he's came, it has pretty much been about unlocking Pogba and we have had different systems and now two different managers try. If he had some more defensive discipline to his game, he would be perfect in our midfield 2, or else in a midfield 3. For me we shoehorn him into the side a lot, and I think there will come a point for Ole or any other manager to be brave and pick our best team, rather than our best eleven individuals and that imo might have Pogba on the bench.

Im with Brad, start again with the midfield.

Get rid of the lot of them; Pogba, Fred, Mctominay, DVB, Matic.
