Hey all,

Been a while since I've posted, as there hasn't been much to post about this season and I'm not one for griping and complaining about results. Moyes has been far from superb this season, but since March he and the squad seem to be gaining some confidence. I'd like to hear what you all think about his season/ future at the club. Like Moyes, Fellaini's season started off very rocky. poor performance after poor performance followed by some red cards and injuries. But, again like Moyes, I think that he is starting to find his feet in the middle of the park. Is he Toure? No. Is he Schweini? No. Is he Vidal? No. Is he a tall, lanky, strong, elbow throwing, afro donning, SOB that plays with passion? I think so. Although he has seemed disinterested at times earlier this season, over the past month I believe that he's starting to find his legs and become the player that we saw score 10 goals and assist 10 at Everton. Sure he played a little higher up the pitch at Goodison, but I remember a player who picked the ball up in the midfield and drove at and bursted through defenses in the Prem, causing all sorts of problems. I guess I'm saying that I believe and have faith in Fellaini to get himself sorted out and be a good box to box midfielder who can break up play, pass, and score. What do you guys think?

On another note, who do you all think has been our best player this year? My vote would be Dave De Gea, due to sheer consistency and reliability. Besides de Gea, our squad can be split into a couple of different groups: average, below average, and needs to leave. Players such as Rooney, Jones, RvP, Evans, Carrick, Hernandez, and Mata have been par, or average. Below Average: Kagawa, Fellaini, Smalling, Rafa, Butts, Young, Valencia, Welbeck, Cleverley, and Nani. Needs to leave: Vida, Rio, Evra, and Giggs.

Anyways. bring on Bayern and here's to a good run of form in the last stages of the season,

Cheers,
Sparty On

1.) I think we could see Nani, Kagawa, Hernandez, Anderson & Young all be sold this summer. Along with the likes of Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Giggs freeing up space on the wage bill we are set for a nice spend this summer. I just hope we get the players we want. Players like Wilson, Powell, Pearson etc will replace the likes of Bebe, Kiko, Amos etc.

2.) Sydney, Kagawa must stay for me. He has played really well recently and he has linked well with Mata, which are very encouraging going forwards. Also I expect Valencia and Young will stay, since we need to have a certain number of English or British players in the squad, and Young provides good cover at left and right wing, and he offers more defensively, plus Valencia covers right back and right wing, and seems to be a player that Moyes likes, puts in a great shift both ways. Hernandez not sure, I think Hernandez wants to play more, but at the same time wants to stay. Plus, with the outlay we need for centre mid, centre back, left back and left wing, I think Moyes might keep Hernandez as a back up especially if Rooney and Van Persie are both out at the same time, since Welbeck is not reliable enough. I can see Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra and Giggs all leaving this summer, although I am especially sad to see Vidic go, just not got the pace for the Prem, still class in our Champions League matches and still the most aerially dominant centre half around. Whatever happens, big changes this summer.

3.) It would be pure madness to sell Kagawa IMO. The guy is coming into his own now. He looks fitter, stronger and quicker; and with Mata, we have two world class attacking CM players' who can utterly destroy teams with their quality.

Hey all,

Been a while since I've posted but this window, in my eyes, is one of the more important ones in years as if we don't strengthen I can't see us making it higher than 4th in the table. I don't claim to have any inside info, just a supporter with a modest wishlist.

I know that everyone on this site knows that we need two CMs, a LB, and a CB. I think that it is imperative that we at least get one CM and LB in this window. Over the last couple of days it appears that Vidal could be unsettled or ready to move on from Juve. I think Vidal would instantly take our team into that next level. The guy has everything that we need in a central midfielder, he can pass, run, score from distance, and put in a tackle. Honestly, if Jubr have any interest in Nani I would shell out 35-40 plus Nani to acquire his services. In the likely event of that not happening I would love to see United put in a 20m bid for Cabaye. He'd be a cheaper option with substantial Prem experience and has great vision, passing ability, and deadly from set pieces.

In addition to a CM I would love to see a LB. Our defense had been leaking goals from the left side for years but until this season we have been able to overcome Evra's lack for concentration by scoring 3 or 4 goals a game. I have absetuely no idea who Moyes plans to bring in.

Last thought, if Mata is genuinely prepared to move I would love for United to put in an accaptable mid for the Spaniard.

Ideally I would like to see this lineup before January ends

---------------De Gea--------------
-Rafa---Jones---Smalling-Baines-
---------Vidal----Fellaini---------
--Januzaj------Rooney----Mata--
-----------------RvP-------------

I know that this is a pipe dream but I fully believe that Fellaiji will come good for us and this squad could make a late title charge if the top half of the table continues to beat each other up.

Cheers ladies and gents and Happy New Year,

Mata on the LW is a danger. he is a perfect No.10. Play him there and you get the result.

2.) SpartyOn. I agree, this window is incredibly important. but it's also a tricky one! With the world cup coming up players are wanting game time, but equally they will be looking for stability (in terms of training and comfort of whatever league they'e in). Many won't want to move I feel. The team you posted is a very strong one. it wouldn't win us the league or the CL, but it would get us top 4 IMO (I'd swap Baines for Coentrao though).

If Mata is available. we have to go for him. Mourinho bid for Rooney to unsettle him in the Summer, and it didn't work, he was never going to offer the money he knew would be necessary to land him. A lot of people are saying we won't get Mata because we didn't let Chelsea have Rooney; the two are completely different situations. I feel if a respectable bid was to go in (28-32 million), it may just get noticed.

Hey all,

I've been watching the page still but it's been a while since I've posted. I think that things are looking up for us at the moment. Both the team and Moyes are starting to get a feel for each other and with this relationship comes confidence. Sure we haven't played that well, but we didn't play that well under Sir Alex for a few years.

The squad is looking alright, but no one has hit form, besides Rooney, yet. I've been very critical of Rooney for the last couple of years and with this past window's 'will he won't he go' saga, I'll admit I had a very negative view of Wayne. Now that we're in November, we all can see that he's getting back into the game changing shape that he was in before his ankle injury in Munich. He is clearly working hard for the new manager and the club, is this because he wants a fat pay day? Maybe. I for one would like to see him sign a long contract and push us towards a Champions League final.

In addition to Rooney, I don't think Fellaini deserves the flack he is getting on here. The man can play some football, he can pass, score, and defend. Has he played great? No. But give the guy a break, he's moving to a bigger club where he hasn't found his feet yet, but he will. He hasn't even gotten a good run of games either. Also, he's playing with a wrist injury that requires an operation so that can't help this settling period.

Anyways, the transfer window's coming up and I would love to see one or two of: Gundogan, Vidal, Marchisio, Herrera, Baines, or Shaw. But since most of these are unlikely, I'd just like somebody useful.

Anyways, cheers, {Ed004's Note - I would still consider selling Rooney next summer tbh a great player on his day but I reckon we should be moving to play 3 in midfield something we can't do with Rooney as his touch and sort passing aren't good enough IMO}

SpartyOn

1.) Ed, could Rooney not play as a striker in a 3 up front though like he used to with Ronaldo and Tevez?

Surely a front 3 something along the lines of Rooney, RVP & Reus or something like that would work with a 3 behind him.

I too agree that we do need a 3 in the middle, only time will tell I suppose. {Ed004's Note - Im not sure if buying a winger would be better off. Only way I would sell Rooney is if we got in a better replacement}

2.) Ed004 so your idea is to sell Rooney so we can start with RvP up front in a 4-3-3? RvP is 30 maybe 2-4 good seasons left, don't you think that's a bit silly with the future of the club in mind? IMO they need each other as competition to stay at a high level. {Ed004's Note - Yes. RVP could play for 3-4 more years as he does not rely on his pace. Whereas Rooney does and his first touch is only going to get worse. Also once other positions are addressed we can look at replacing RVP in 2-3 seasons time}

3.) Only just seen that you said you'd sell him if we got a better replacement, apologies.

4.) Ed, how would you like our 4-3-3 to look, who would you buy to complete it? I think that De Gea, Rafael, Smalling, Vidic, Baines, Carrick, Witsel, Herrera, Reus, RVP, Rooney would be good. Although I would like Ronaldo haha. {Ed004's Note - it'll never happen but same back line except Coentrao tho wouldn't complain with Baines, Carrick/Jones beside Koke and Gundogan and Rooney sold to fund moves for 2 of Reus/Sanchez or Di Maria/Mata, players such as Evra, Anderson, Young and Nani leaving to raise funds as well}

Hey all,

Exciting times lay ahead as I sit on my couch watching Wimbledon fantasizing about the transfer window and next season. A perfect summer for me would be Thiago, Strootman, Baines, and possibly Garay with Rooney staying.

My mates and I were discussing the tendency of footballers to to overreact and play act on any and all types of challenges. Too often players are rolling around on the floor clutching their leg as if it needed to be amputated. Most of the time, the player will roll around for a minute, look around to see if anyone is looking, if not, get up and magically that horrible injury isn't so horrible. This type of behavior only really happens in football.

We were comparing this type of behavior to America's NHL, National Hockey League, where players will take a frozen piece of solid rubber to the face at speeds that go over 150 kph, shatter their jaw, get up and continue playing. In comparison to football ice hockey is way more taxing on the body and those guys play three games a week and an 82 games a season. Sure they have some protective gear, but if you have ever seen an NHL those guys beat the sh*t out of each other game in game out.

After having a lengthy discussion we came up with a solution to get time wasting and play acting out of the sport, as most of the time these are the reasons players will simulate injuries.

In the case of a real injury, a player will go down and be helped off the field. A team official will look at the player and will be subbed if they cannot continue. In most cases, players will roll around on the ground and waste a tactical three minutes, get a drink, then hop up and continue play. In my opinion, I believe that FIFA needs to crack down on this type of behavior, because the game is simply better without it. Refs should have more of a say in deciding whether or not the player was simulating his injuries, giving a yellow to players who were faking it.

I don't know, something different other than the Roon debate, Sneijder misspellings, and ed begging. Although I really appreciate everything they do, as I have been addicted to this site for the past three year, I check it about five times a day.

Cheers,
Sparty On

1.) I agree with you, the worst cases are when they get stretchered to the side line looking like they are dying then hop off magically the second they are off the pitch to help their team again.

This may seem a harsh punishment but what about once you have left the pitch for treatment etc then you cannot come back on?

2.) Gaa in Ireland would kill most soccer players Iv often got hit on the back of the leg with a lumb of wood full force

3.) I was talking to my brother about this, and 1 solution we had was for players to be treated by the opposition physio. This means that the physio will say whether they are acting or not, but if a physio says a player is fine but then it turns out he has a torn hamstring or something, then the physio's team get a small fine. Not the most thought out idea, but there is something to it.
Or we get Wimbledon back in the premier league to really hurt some of the diving players (our own included)

4.) SpartyOn

Good idea, it works well in rugby amd would address all the feigning injury just to wast time. Tbh there is so much that hacks me off that could easily be fixed. Wrestling at corners, stealing 10 yards at a throw in, swearing and bawling at the ref. unfortunately, the FA, UEFA, and FIFA do not have the balls to do it.

5.) Can't think of many footballers who would last in a game of rugby!

6.) The one I hate the most is the way every throw in is contested by both teams, even when it's clear who the ball came off last! Gets my goat, lol.

7.) The hole stoke team
caolan-2

Eds, could you answer a quick question? I know Jorge Mendes has many clients, including some on our current squad. Would you happen to know who are his clients that we are linked with?

Cheers, {Ed002's Note - Possibly di María.}

SpartyOn

1.) Isn't he Garay's agent as well

I saw a tweet by Manutdredcafe saying Jorge Mendes had been good to us. I assumed it meant the agreement to sign Garay. i'll be over the moon if it's Di Maria as well {Ed002's Note - He is Garay's agent as well.}

2.) Thanks ED002. If we do happen to get Strootman and Thiago, who would be first choice? I'd like to see a Carrick/Thiago partnership and a Strootman/Cleverley pair. Di Maria would no doubt improve our winger selection, but what wing would be play on? If Rooney stays then Kagawa has to play out left again in order to fit both into the line up. We all know that Kagawa likes that no. 10 role behind the striker, but will Moyes be pressured into starting him over Rooney? So in the case of Rooney playing the no. 10 role we would have Di Maria, Valencia, Zaha, and possibly Nani all fighting for the RW position. I have faith in Nani and for 10 mill I think we should just keep him. He had an off year and is inconsistant, but I think that he is still useful squad player, more so than Young in my opinion.

Cheers, {Ed002's Note - Think about the squad not the team.}

3.) Would like to see cleverly leave united just not good enough to wear the shirt
