Apparently Van Gaal has shelved interest in Kroos :( . genuinely think he's one of the best midfielders around and i'd certainly take him over Fabregas or Strootman :(

MACMAN

1.) Considering Fabregas is a loyal gunner and would never join us anyway and strooman is injured and won't pass a medical leaves us with very lil options :P

Things could get worse before they get better. I remember hearing that a few weeks ago and thinking no way could things get any worse but boy was I wrong.

For me personally its not so much the results as much as the performances and the nonsensical tactical decisions being taken.

Playing out an out wingers when the wingers at the club are useless is mind boggling! We have dynamic players who can start wide cut in side swap positions and have creativity in abundance but yet they're either left on the bench or worse still at home NONSENSE!

Against Palace I actually thought sense had been seen and could see a performance that ok while not fantastic gave hope. The only change that should have been made from he game at the weekend should have been the forced change of Kagawa for Mata. I should however have realized that Moyes this season has to change the line up match to match full stop its so depressing.

There clearly needs to be a purge of a lot of the players in the team but I fear for who the club will attract without champions league football. I agree to a certain extent that the lure of United will still be a big draw for players but will those same players want to play for Moyes who is showing zero tactical noose or any sort of consistency of selection, will they see light at the end of the tunnel?

Purge
Young - Has never been good enough
Ferdinand - Great servant but is past it now and needs to go
Vidic - Again great servant but has never been the same since injuries
Evra - Terrible in defensive situations for more than this season
Cleverly - clearly not good enough and never will be
Carrick - overrated in my humble opinion never been able to boss a game against top teams like a top midfielder should
Valencia - way too one dimensional one trick pony whose one trick doesn't work anymore
RVP - This one might shock but if he doesn't want to be there then he should leave and he clearly doesn't look happy and is not trying anywhere near hard enough
Nani - Often brilliant but unfortunately too often terrible
Anderson - Already gone won't be back wasted talent he had it all
Evans - too clumsy and terrible on the ball to be playing regularly for a top team wanting to win leagues and champions leagues
Buttner - how did this guy get bought I don't even have anything to say about him

Personally I would keep the below

De Gea - Potential to be the best in the world
Rafael - showed last season the player he can be
Rooney - looks like he could get back to the pinacle
Jones - Massive potential
Smalling - good squad player
Fellaini - not his biggest fan but could be a solid squad player
Welbeck - Good squad player
Hernandez - great movement and can provide a legitimate goal threat from the bench ( prob won't be happy with that though )
Kagawa - Has massive ability
Mata - Team should be built around this genious
Januzaj - The future, top top player needs to unleashed and not rested as much he's ready full stop
Powell - This guy looks like the real deal could be a very good squad player
Zaha - Needs to be give an opportunity to show what he can do

And so it begins the words none of us wanted to hear

Asked if he would be making any signings, Moyes said: "I don't think so. I think most of the business will be more towards the summer rather than January."

Either Moyes and the entire united board are blind or deluded or both or there isn't money being made available.

I understand there is not always value to buying in January because of players being cup tied etc. for the champions league but there are players who "could" be available.

Vidal to use one example as Juve are out of the Champions League.

Benfica need money too, Garay, Gaitan, Matic any of those 3 would be an improvement on what we have.

Gundogan, not signing a new deal has made that clear to Dortmund prob would be avail at the right price.

Coentrao, apparently been told by Madrid he can go.

Di Maria, only used sparingly by Madrid surely would jump and the chance to play every week esp in this a world cup year.

I hope this isn't a case of the Glaziers being tightfisted, there was a time when the big transfers were happening or the best young talents were being made available then Manchester United would be at the front of the queue but that has not been the case for a long time.

Look at the list of almosts its shocking, Hazard, Lucas to name but 2

1.) I have not heard the interview or read the 'quotes' but I am assuming that this is moyes just playing the game and talking rubbish in his press conference. He has realised you cannot say anything as Manchester United manager without the press printing it in 700 different ways so might as well just deny everything and let them print that.

2.) Well, That is really bloody discouraging. I realize guys like Vidal and Koke might be one step too far in this window, however if Coentrao does move and we sit around and do nothing, It will tell us a lot about the manager and the owners.

I wonder where SAF sits on all of this being on the board and I assume they would need to sanction any spending, supporting spending or defending this lot as being plenty good, after all it is his team.

3.) Yeah I wouldn't read anything into that comment.Moyes used to say that every window at Everton.Players will be bought although I can't more than 2 being brought in.

4.) I hope this is a smokescreen but I fear not. Oh well Ill keep dreaming.

5.) It's an absolute joke, there's plenty of players available that would improve this squad. Moyes must now deliver champions league qualification otherwise there's going to b a big backlash at United.
Not happy!

6.) We should likely take his words with a pinch of salt. Moyes does not know how to handle the press at the level he is at. Take a recent quote, "I never talk about players at other clubs, " said Moyes."That's my stock answer. I don't think it is right. "I didn't do it in the summer and I certainly won't do now."
I think Moyes forgot his summer comments about the Fabregas pursuit.
Therefore the latest may just be the way he thinks he now needs to play the press. However he doesn't appreciate the impact he is having on the support. There is also the possibility that his fixation with Baines is a problem and the Glazers won't support him with the amount Everton want, or the players we need have taken a look at our non Champions league spot and won't make a leap of faith, or even that Moyes isn't sure about the players. Everton fans called him dithering Dave. It should be born in mind that if we don't sign anyone this window it could also be that the Glazers are not supporting him financially. Let's remember Moyes didn't go with SAFs summer targets and we have seen the result, so would the owners be holding back because they are tight or because they want to take stock of where we are in summer and have money to spend if they brought in a new manager. The Glazers saw their Tampa Bay outfit struggle under an inexperienced coach before sacking him recently after his second season. They then appointed a new appropriately experienced coach so they may have recently realised the value of experience. Let us also remember that neither Woodward or Moyes has any experience at the top end of players which may hamper us. Whatever the case we need to buy this window and I haven't given up on strengthening yet, let us judge on 1st Feb, yet we said that all summer but have the club learned?

7.) RedMan

I do agree with Moyes needing to curb how he answers reporters an some of it taken out of context and some of the stuff he says is just bad.

I don't believe it is a matter of the owners not trusting him or backing him but more a matter of what he wants and the availability of those players. I also don't believe we have not changed overnight and have never been known to pay over the odds and that might be a stumbling block in deals in January.

Finally, I follow the NFL and have done so for yonkers week in week out. The Buchs have been a disaster for god knows how many years and they have changed coaches many times in the last 10 years. Contrary to village tales on this site they have the 9th or 10th highest payroll in the NFL in a 32 man league and it is not for a lack of trying. They are like many other NFL franchises who just cannot get over the hurdle just like my beloved browns :)

If anything they have been guilty of constantly changing coaches and direction. They have also had lousy draft picks and bad luck with career ending injuries and players who have tested well in the combines but have not worked out in the NFL. Remember the average NFL career is 4 years.

8.) GCU

Thing is mate, if we don't make top 4, those targets aren't going to be available anyway. They won't want to join us as we'll be seen as a risky option with no CL football.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place and it didn't need to be like this if we'd done our business in the summer. We'd be top 2-3 by now.

9.) RED_SKY

I do agree we should have done a lot more business in the summer and royally screwed up but then again a lot of people did not believe we needed to do much given last seasons results, including many on this site.

This idea of players not joining because of cl stuff is bs with the exception of a few players mate. Look at Monaco, Roma this past summer, PSG a few seasons ago. Players joined them as long as you are willing to do business with the selling club and meet players wage demand. Look at Chelsea a few years ago or City when they were called Projects.

You should stop listening to some of the stuff as it is just pure opinions and not fact what so ever. A bad season will not be the end of United and 99% of players would give their left leg to play for us.

10.) GCU

Your looking at it through the eyes of a United fan mate. Majority of quality foreign players couldn't give a stuff about a club's history or reputation, just how good they are at present and how much they're willing to pay.

"Players joined them as long as you are willing to do business with the selling club and meet players wage demand."

Yeah, because we've been good at doing this recently haven't we?

Ronaldo, Mata, Fellaini, Baines, Modric, Kondogbia

Come Sept. 3rd who do you think United will sign? Any of the above none of the above?

Do we really have the unlimted budget claimed?

The number 7 is there as a draw for someone I believe and I hope beyond hope that Cristiano is coming "home"

Is the Nike / Chevrolet link plausible? I may be a dreamer but the signs are great . and hey its great to dream let's try to focus on the possible positives rather than the normal downbeat replies

I for one believe the club are trying their best to get the best possible players in . I have to believe that and think we all should

Your thoughts?

We are United!! Come on who wouldn't want to play for the best club on the planet!

MACMAN

1.) Personally I think Madrid will sign Bale, they will allow Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria to leave, we will sign both of them and Ozil will get number 8 or 9 and Di Maria will number 7. Then hopefully we will sign Khedira as well, but more likely we will sign Fellaini.

Hey Ed thanks for taking the time to go so in depth on the players linked.

Do I take it from what you said that in your opinion that if a deal is to be done in January for any player that you think the only possible transfers would be Vidal at the right price?

I think they should give whatever nec to sign Vidal throw Nani in as a sweetner! He is class!

Let's remember during one of our soap opera Sneijder links a couple of years back Fergie said he wouldn't be signing Sneijder during a pres conference and the reason he gave was Pogba was ready and might get disillusioned by Sneijder coming in affecting his development.

Clearly Fergie rated Pogba, there must have been some reason behind the scenes why Fergie was not playing him because let's be honest its not like Fergie was afraid to trust young players during his time at United.

It does sadden me to see the beast he has become given he is everything United need and it will be even harder should he sign for Chelski seeing him light up the Premier League for one of our rivals but que sera sera unfortunately.
