just saw a rumour that united will move for calvalho if the vidal move fails. who would we prefer? I think carvalho would be wiser, with him being younger and we could develop him.

manton

1.) Carvalho is a good player and if the Vidal deal collapsed then he would be the player I'd want instead.

2.) No, we got enough players with 'potential'. If we want to compete we need world class players. The way I see it is if we want players with potential to flourish we nedd to integrate them slowly into a world beating team. that's why we saw how well nani did in the 07/08 team. Barca do the same as we've seen with busquets and pedro

3.) I think Vidal would be the wise option for the team this year, we need to get back into the CL and he will have an immediate impact.
However, if Van Gaal sees Strootman as a box to box midfielder then getting Carvallho now and Strootman in the future makes sense.
Either way we need at least 1 additional CM this window.

4.) Erm, let me think.

Would you rather Suarez or Gareth Ainsworth?

5.) Carvalho is going to be a beast in the mold of yaya(maybe more defensive)and if he goes to arsenal he will be a huge player for them,I'd love him and think he is more the kind of player we need than vidal ,but if it is vidal I'll still be ecstatic

6.) I've got a feeling we'll regret it if Carvalho ends up at another Prem team. I'd give Cuadrado a miss and go for Vidal and Carvalho.

7.) Brad76 - I think LVG sees strootman as a ball-playing defensive midfielder, Carrick's long term replacement.

Herrera will be the main box-to-box midfielder, although Strootman can cover this role too when needed.

LVG won't buy a cm just for the sake of it, if he can't get one he wants, he won't get one, and the current group should do until January when Strootman will be fit.

Someone like Blind who can cover another role might be possible though.

8.) We will not bid or get carvalho

9.) Thorne, totally agree with you on Strootman. However he is an adaptable player who could play both roles.
Carvallho I think would be good, Blind would be cheaper option with more adaptability.
You are right, he won't buy for the sake of it which is a big change from the Moyes era

Do you know of any bid for Di Maria I read something this morning saying a £55m bid has been put in just wonderd how true this was

just saw a newly published article stating that arsenal have triggered the £22M release clause for fellaini. of course it could be media talk but this could kick start a potential bidding war between: arsenal, chelsea and united. any thoughs edds on how accurate it could be? {Ed004's Note - Hoping it is true tbh}

manton

1.) Hope arsenal win that war personaly

any truth in hernandez to everton on loan?

manton

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn't think so.}

1.) 22 Aug 2014 09:10:00
He may move to Either Inter Milan or AC milan

sly spurts reporting, thiago has signed for bayern.
will be interesting to see who we go after for the midfield now. maybe modric?

manton

1.) Oh that's great news, europes best want someone they get them, we dither, our midfield has average in Europe for years now, more worrying is the report that Moyes wasn't sure his style would suit premier league, like mata has been poor, silva hasn't fitted in, maybe a premier league third rater would suit Moyes, europes best teams get the best players we are falling behind, but people cannot see it
Thiago u21 captain, scored ahat trick wouldn, t suit us, you mean can pass the ball?

2.) Maybe Sneijder, Hazard or Moura!

just read an article (possibly not a reliable one) that said moyes is considering purchasing thiago's younger brother, Rafinha. in order to persuade thiago to move with him. barcelona are meant to be looking for a loan deal for rafinha with everton one of the former potential suitors.
as always this could be paper talk. just curious to see if any of the Edds have any info or knowledge concerning a move for rafinha.
cheers.

manton

1.) I would be so happy if we got Rafinha as well! he's such a talented lad!

Reminds me of a 19 yr old Hazard in that he always looks to take on his man but knows when to pass.

The Moon.

there has been a lot of speculation about who would follow moyes to united. obviously baines and fellaini have been top of the register but I would much rather ross barkley than fellaini. I think he is a very promising young footballer. edds do you know of any interest from us or anyone else?

manton

1.) Mirallas is a good player.

Sydney!

2.) Sydney

Finally you have seen the light:)

Shahram

3.) I have been mentioning Mirallas for a while mate. I think he would be a much better player in a better side.

Sydney!

4.) I agree. I think in a martinez system he could do even better as he play a more expansive style.

I would not mind one bit if we got him for under 10 million as he might turn out to be a really good investment.

Shahram

5.) He is young, versatile, can speak three languages fluently, therefore intelligent. He works hard and wouldn't cost too much in both transfer fee and salary. I would sign him for perhaps a little more than £10m.

Sydney!

6.) I brought up Mirallas around a year and a half ago, and was met with ferocity in reply, stating how being at Olympiakos he wouldn't be good enough.

Now people have seen him in the Premier Leagye they have seen the light.

In a team of which he is given freedom to roam, he will do very very well.

MPez

7.) OMG! I didn't know knowing 3 languages makes you intelligent.

8.) Sorry, he speaks four languages fluently. I would say that is pretty intelligent, especially for a 25 year old.

Sydney!

a website reporting that united are (along with arsenal) interested in jovetic. this is the first i've heard of it, haven't seen anyone post on here concerning him, could he be a potential replacement should rooney leave? any thoughts edds? I wouldn't mind. although roo did impress me for england against brazil the other night. he was clearly out to silence the critics, not sure how silent they are though. {Ed004's Note - The more I thought about that today the more I think it would be a good move. Saw the article earlier. Jovetic is young and technically very good. He seems hard working and he is versatile. I reckon he could comfortably play in a 3 of Di Maria, Kagawa and himself behind RVP}

manton

1.) I've always rated the guy - flexible as to where he plays across the front, which would be ideal for the type of football we're looking to play, and like you say Ed, very good technically.

I think it would be a toss up between him and Di Maria, with Di Maria being the more experienced, but Jovetic with the potential - though he has been a regular in Seria A for a few years now.

2.) Ed004 - Not sure I want Rooney gone and TBH Jovetic doesn't excite me that much BUT I have to admit I think that front 4 could be very effective.

3.) I love this site, I posted 6 months ago how I really like this guy and everybody goes on about overrated an not united quality. Now that supposedly we are interested everybody loves him LOL.

I don't believe it until I see it, it sure is an indian summer and you boys are in heat for any signings lol.

Completely with you there Dan. barkley looks very promising for the future and of course baines will be linked to united although his defensive capability isn't reliable despite his ability going forward.
